Way to go team Cherry, you promise DLC and accidentally make a whole new game. Like... who does that...? anyway...
I'm actually super pumped about this. Hollow Knight was an EXCELLENT Metroidvania style adventure game. In this one you get to play as HORNET, a recurring boss and optional ally in the original Hollow Knight. Thoughts?

Hollow knight is excellent, I am still playing it. The art style, the gameplay, the music, the athmosphere - everything is amazing! I am looking forward to the sequel. I would have liked if Bloodstained was similar. I prefer this 2D style of game than 3D from Bloodstained. Team Cherry is made of just 2-3 people and they have done a fantastic job, Hollow knight is praised by everyone.

Didn't know Team Cherry was only like 2-3 people though. That must be an immense workload. :0 Especially with the amount of content that is packed into Hollow Knight, what with the original game, and the DLC and all that.

Hollow Knight, for me, is in a special category of games that would almost certainly be in my Top 10 if they didn't have spiders in them. With other games in that category, like Donkey Kong Country 2 or Resident Evil: HD Remaster, I have ways of coping with it. When you have to play as Squitter in DKC2, I can squint and look at the edges of the screen. With RE, if there's a room with giant spiders, I can just close my eyes and peek at the map when I need to. Hollow Knight's different. There really isn't a practical way of avoiding all those spiders that crawl along the screen in Deepnest, not to mention the eggsacs that explode or the spider enemies that emerge from the foreground.
That's one big reason why I'm hugely excited for Silksong. Since it takes place in a new kingdom, it seems unlikely that they'd just do another Deepnest.

Yeah the new kingdom looks spectacular. And the plethora of new abilities, areas, enemy AIs, I'm super pumped for it. Team Cherry definitely refined their talent on this one, and really flexed their chops. I'm also super intrigued as to how this game will correlate with the original, as I've gotten all the endings in that one and know the game quite, quite well. :0

Based on the trailer, it looks like Hornet's going to be a fair bit more agile than the Knight. Do you think this means we can expect more agile bosses as well? If so, what do you think about that?

Wow, found one place in the forum where being a Hollow Knight fan isn't some kind of treacherous offense to Igarashi's games or something. Very hyped for Silksong. I really loved HK up to the Grimm Troupe, the Godmaster update I kinda dislike with its focus on boss gauntlets and artificial super hard versions of past bosses, but otherwise that was amazing and this trailer is looking spectacular. LeoLeWolferoux did you also get the final Godmaster ending? If so, hats off to you, that's a titanic feat. @autumn I personally expect more "humanoid" (well not really humanoid but you get it, as big as the player or something like that) bosses but also some big bosses that have gimmicks around Hornet's agility. Or not-so-agile bosses with vicious AoE attacks so that the challenge would more be about dodging with the new abilities than hitting.

LeoLeWolferoux You mentioned ending s, right? That's something I always find pretty interesting about sequels to games with multiple endings. Some Western RPGs, like Fallout 2 and Knights of the Old Republic II can get away with acknowledging the events and characters from their predecessors in vague terms. There are also the silly ones, like Mass Effect 2 and 3, which will detect your old save file and accommodate whichever ending you got in the last game. Then there're most other games, which can really only branch off from one specific ending for the story to make any sense. They all seem like unique challenges in their own right, writing-wise. I'm a little conflicted. On one hand, I'm kind of curious to know which ending(s) folks think Silksong might branch off from. On the other hand, I only managed to earn one of the endings while playing Hollow Knight, and I generally don't like to know too much about endings I didn't earn. I'd rather not know that Hornet is actually the Doctor from Doctor Who, who brought a medication from the future to cure the infected denizens of Hollownest, only to be stopped by her long lost brother, the nefarious anti-vaxxer, Batman (the Knight's true identity all along). Alas, they both meet their bloody demise in the tragic final battle. With his greatest political rival now out of the way, Zote effortlessly becomes Prime Minister of Australia, and almost singlehandedly brings about the Western world's second Dark Age. With no more food to eat, the surviving humans are left with little choice but to set their sights on Phylum Arthropoda, thus bringing a conclusive end to Hollownest's long and storied history, y'know?

Mr. Welldone Yes, I have actually. Sorry to not clarify. I've just about gotten 100% completion, minus the Godmaster content. I played around with it a little bit, but as another user said, not too keen on boss rush/artificial SUPER TOUGH varients of bosses. freddythemonkey YES. I LOOOOVE HK. I'll add you on the forum, we can geek out about it some time. Also no, I didn't finish all the Godmaster content. Fuck. And. That. ahahahaha. I played it a little bit, but for me the game was already pretty difficult as it was; it was virtually impossible for me to beat a boss without taking at least 2-3 hits; with the exception of the Dung Defender .

This is a great game! I grabbed it during a special discount, over at GOG. Punishing and rewarding, one of the very few games that actually manages to make you want to git gud! I managed to beat 75% of all game content (achievement count/metrics) with my own skills, then i used invulnerability mod, in order to experience the entire of the game's content (beating pantheons with handicaps? Beech, please!). My only problem with it is that sometimes, controls aren't as refined & responsive as they should, leading me into tragic deaths. Using keyboard...
That be a masterpiece, really. But they shouldn't have made it so much hard, the final content of DLCs (pantheons and king grimm were pure sh_t, difficulty wise). They should have shown more love to the casual players, like in the vast majority of the main game!
I love how those guys treated their stretch-goals and i secretly hope that Iga will pull off, something similar. Silksong for Hornet would be a great example, for Zangetsu. And imagine that Hollow Knight's stretch goals, not all of them had been funded, unlike Bloodstained's... Whoops.

I played Hollow Knight to 112% completion. It's my new favorite Metroidvania game of all time. Super Metroid, Castlevania, step aside. Hollow Knight is the new king. The time it took me to complete Hollow Knight a single time was enough to play through Bloodstained twice over on normal and nightmare difficulty while completing the bestiary, and maxing every single thing imaginable. Hollow Knight is massive, and I haven't even done all bosses on Radiant difficulty or attempted the Pantheons with bindings or Steel Soul mode. It's insane. And insanely cheap. And the DLC is free. What the hell is this perfection? I cannot wait for Silksong, damn it.
