Will Platinum achievements be on other consoles too? And will it work on PS5?
Will these achievements convert to real money or a free additional game?

Free gam—the hell? Something tells me you’ve never played a PS3, PS4, or even Vita game ever before. Were you being serious? The only part of your post that wasn’t preposterous was your Platinum trophy question and no, those are exclusive to PlayStation’s trophy system. It’s just one additional trophy (aka achievement) given to you after getting every other trophy in the game. But many times smaller games don’t have a Platinum trophy, vis-à-vis this thread I created.

Achievements for me is to finish a game. Since it had such a fancy name I thought it had something more to it than mini-goals. Ofc I can Google it when I am home to understand the difference between Platinum, trophy and achievements. I mean, if I finish some games and earn points, shouldn't that be worth something? Or is it just points that doesn't do anything? On any system for that matter? I hope PS5 can handle discs. I have backed PS4, since Vita was discontinued.

Enkeria Sony had some sort of offer awhile back that if you earned so many plat's you could get a free game, I don't remember the details of it though, but by and large, no you can't do anything with plats or trophies in general, they are worth points but all those points do is increase your profile level which does. Absolutely nothing. I believe that developers have been given PS5 kits to work with and start planning games for it, and Sony will probably announce the PS5 either this year or next, but nothing solids been revealed yet.

Achievements are digital collectible "badges of honor" that some people care about and others not. I tend to be somewhere in between on them - I think they're neat and amusing sometimes, and it's cool to see the thought and ideas developers put into their achievements sometimes, but I almost never go out of my way to get them.
You and other players can go compare your trophies to someone else, and it can be a motivation factor when there are "hidden trophies/achievements", giving you the idea that the game has something you haven't seen yet that the dev may want you to. Getting them increases your overall gamer "score" and "level", which absolutely does nothing but again, some gamers care about the bragging rights and in their mind this plays into obviously the "completion" of the game. It's certainly a lot of work and something to be said for getting a Platinum in a game like Bloodborne etc, whereas the only one I remember getting is the extremely easy one for the original Telltale Walking Dead game. I wasn't even trying to get that, I just did the other story path it had and since that's all you can do in the game...and yeah lol.

Personally, it depends on the specific game for me. I've only ever bothered spending time trying to get all of the Achievements/Trophies [all the way up to earning the Platinum Trophy for PS3/4 titles] for seven games so far in my entire life (yes, I've kept count).
And it looks like Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is going to be number eight on the list of games I want to "Platinum".

I love video games, but my favorite trophy was gotten when I was 12 when I competed against a 16 year old (wonky age brackets). He was a full foot and a half taller than me and I was 90 lbs soaking wet.
Still, landed a perfect wheel kick right in his temple. Out like a light. The whole crowd in the arena gasped from the sound of it.
Call me old-fashioned, but most of these 'trophies' don't come with a story. I patently don't get it.

Lol, I hope nobody noticed the obvious typo in my previous reply... Speaking of which, maybe one of the Trophies will be purposely done in Engrish?/Broken English?

I'm pretty sure we'll see a platinum. Most games have at least one. COTM was sort a mini-game and the trophies that it had were mostly for beating the game in slightly different ways, the few games that have no platinums tend to have a pretty short overall trophy list. I must have trophies in at least 50 different games, and I can only think of 4 with no platinum.

Im getting Bloodstained on Switch, PS4 and on GoG, So at least the consoles, once I have them. I can collect some achievements, see if that is something for me, as a playstyle.
"Giving you the idea that the game has something you haven't seen yet that the dev may want you to." < Very intresting, and by a riddle of sorts without guide or aid from the web. Right?
Achievements is rather new to me, sure it happens on Steam but I pay no attention. Thanks for clearifications guys. Just confused when it comes to new terms. An achievement is an achievement, I didn't know Platinum was just the same (or .. whatever it really means).

Some people make achievements/trophies seem like this complicated, abstract subject, but in reality it's anything but. You're just playing games and completing tasks/goals just as you would while playing any game, from any generation. On your last point, it's really just a difference of name. Xbox, Google Play, and Steam all call them achievements, but PlayStation calls them trophies, which can be bronze, silver, gold, or platinum. The platinum trophy is only ever earned if you have every other trophy in the game, so it's a mark that you've done everything.

An achievement is an achievement, I didn't know Platinum was just the same (or .. whatever it really means). Trophies and Achievements are exactly the same with the exception that Trophies are what Sony calls them. They come in the bronze, silver, and gold variety depending on how difficult it’s to unlock it and they generally have one additional Achievement (Trophy) that’s not present on Xbox/Steam which is the famous Platinum trophy which you get after unlocking every other Trophy from the game. And I say “generally” because some “smaller” games don’t come with a Platinum, ergo me creating this thread asking/suggesting that ArtPlay makes sure Bloodstained RotN does come with one because Curse of the Moon sure as hell didn’t have one. Take into account only the Switch platform doesn’t have some sort of system wide achievement system unlike the PS4, PS3, Vita, XB1, X360, Steam, etc. So if you want these extra challenges and incentives to get the most out of Bloodstained you might want to stick to your PC or PS4 release instead of Switch. PS: we know absolutely nothing about the PS5 (aka, it hasn’t been announced). There are only rumors and speculations pointing at it releasing in 2020 but it’s all conjecture. And I’d be shocked if the PS5 didn’t come with a disc drive, I wouldn’t worry about it. PS-2: By the way if you own any of these three Sony systems you can view your entire Trophy Collection regardless of platform meaning that if you check your list on your PS4 you’d be able to see what trophies you’ve gotten on games for the PS4, PS3 or Vita so I’d expect the same with the PS5 trophy system once it comes out.

I’d be willing to bet that at least one Trophy/Achievement will have a retro inspired broken English or corny translation theme. Either a “what is a man” joke or some Castlevania 2 terrible localization reference.

Although, going by recent news, the Switch might get access to XBOX Achievements when XBOX Live comes to the system. If I understand correctly, the Switch version of Minecraft already lets you connect the game to your XBOX Live account and earn Achievements, so I assume other multiplatform games might work a little bit like that. The GDC meeting where they plan to elaborate on all this isn't for another few months, so I'm curious to see what becomes of this.

And even if they turn out true we don’t know the details so for all we know we’d get cloud based XBLA without achievements so let’s hold our horses until we know more. Right now this is neither here or there.

That's quite a bit more substantial than a rumor. But you're right; we don't know the details yet, which is why I said "might," not "will."

I'll be honest: Most of the time once I discover an interesting 3rd-party Switch title, I will try to find out if it is also on or going to be on PlayStation just for the trophies. For example, while watching the recent Nintendo Direct for the Switch titles, my mind was in *MULTI-PLAT ALERT* mode as to warn myself to hold off further interest in certain "seemingly Switch-only" titles until I know more about them and to avoid making a mistake purchase. Sure, I love Nintendo because I need my Mario games, Zeldas, Metroids, Kirbys, and Mario Karts. Switch is totally worth it for me just for 1st-party games and I'm fine with that. But there's only one place so far, that I can think of, that I can potentially get a Platinum trophy in Bloodstained
