My question/suggestion is simple:
Will Bloodstained Ritual of the Night feature a Platinum trophy on PS4? Because it very much should. Heck, Curse of the Moon should've too but it didn't.
I dont know what are the guidelines by Sony of which games are worthy of a Platinum and which aren't but one thing I do know, they must be confusing as hell.
A couple of years ago a dumb game about clicking on a jar of mayonnaise came with a freaking Platinum trophy you could unlock in seconds by tapping the jar a bunch of times. That was it. It was called My Name is Mayo and cost $0.99 and had a Platinum and yet bigger and better games that aren't $0.99 (but not $59.99 either) like Bloodstained Curse of the Moon, Ducktales Remastered, Megaman Legacy Collection, Castlevania Mirror Of Fate, and many many others didnt feature one. What gives? What happened here?
Anyway, concerning Bloodstained RotN which is certainly bigger than CotM but doesnt seem its going to be a full $60 retail release I'm afraid might not have the privilege of a Platinum trophy. Will it have it? Can you guys insist to Sony and point to the stupid My Name Is Mayo $0.99 game that did have one in case they're saying to ArtPlay "no"?
Thanks.
PS: if this has alreay been addressed and we have an answer I'll request a thread lock (after I'm told what the answer was, of course).

I don't know if this has already been answered and I'm too lazy to search, but I'll add my thoughts anyway I don't think RotN with have the PS4 Plat trophy. I believe this may have something to do with why Curse of the Moon never got one: being on multiple consoles. In addition, there may have been an agreement made so that there will be no console with any perceived advantage that may sway consumers, only intending to buy one copy of the game, to the console with that particular advantage. Case in point: the PSN Platinum trophy. And I think RotN will follow this strategy as well since RotN will be multi-platform. For the record, I have 100%-ed Curse of the Moon for the PS4 and I'll admit I was a bit confused over not getting a plat (which I rarely go after!). But just seeing the "100%" on my PSN trophy page for this wonderful game is almost as good as a plat in my mind

No version with a percieved advantage? ...darn, I guess that rules out a Goofball amiibo.

But just seeing the "100%" on my PSN trophy page for this wonderful game is almost as good as a plat in my mind This console parity nonesense holds no ground. If that were the case then only Sony exclusives would ever get a Platinum trophy which is very much NOT the case. Plenty of downloadable/under-$60 multiplatform games get a Platinum. Just recently the $40 Megaman X Legacy Collection 1 and 2 have each one Platinum. And that’s not to mention all the $60 AAA multi platform games that have a Platinum. Look, it’s not like I’m saying Bloodstained won’t have Xbox Live and Steam achievements, of course they will, it’s just that PlayStation will do so too and should come with a Platinum as well. The only reason Nintendo isn’t getting any is because they don’t have this system and if platform parity was a thing then Curse of the Moon would’ve gotten no trophies/achievements at all because the Switch and 3DS didn’t have them which turns out was a non issue and we still got trophies and achievements (but no Platinum) regardless of Nintendo’s lack of an achievement system. If a stupid $0.99 My Name is Mayo game can get a Platinum so should Bloodstained. And by the way, this dumb as a rock game that did have the ultimate trophy was not a Sony first party game nor it was a PlayStation exclusive. That game is also available on Steam.

A game being granted "Platinum status" if you will, is something that Sony has say over so far as I know and not the developer/publisher. No one has made there exact requirements public (again as far as I know), but it's mostly around the size of the game, but there isn't really any consistency for what games have plats and witch don't, for example, there are several Telltale games where all you need to do is watch and occasionally push a button till you see the credits to get a plat, yet a game like Hard Corps Uprising which is infinitely harder to 100% and requires ALOT more time doesn't have a plat, when Back to the Future was originally released it was episodic and back then Sony didn't group episode titles together each one got it's own list, yet when they re released it it got a plat, even though it's the same exact game. Trophies are also points based much like achievements from Microsoft, so it's likely that a game needs so many "points" before it can get a platinum, this would make sense then that bigger games get more Platinums.
Regardless I personally would be shocked if Ritual doesn't get a Plat, I wasn't particularly surprised that Curse didn't given the size of the game.

Like I said the lack of clarity and consistency from Sony on this matter is infiuriating.
I apologize for bringing this back again but if My Name Is Mayo thats $0.99 can get a Platinum trophy and not Hard Corps Uprising something's broken.
Here's another bewildering example: classic series Megaman Legacy Collection 1 and 2 neither got a Platinum (and they were two separate releases years apart) and they both had 10 games in total. Meanwhile Megaman X Legacy Collection 1 and 2 (which you could get both on one physical 2-disc package) had one Platinum for each of the two collections even though theyboth carried only 8 games instead of 10.
It makes no sense.
I know Sony has a final say but that doesnt mean Artplay/505 couldnt or shouldn't insist.

Ultimately, even if it's only BECAUSE there is no consistency, Plat's don't really mean anything, there fun and I myself do try to collect them but at the end of the day, alil ding and electronic certificate that says I shot all of the Mr. Raccoon's in RE2 doesn't mean anything, so I doubt Sony will ever change on this, some Plat's are embarrassingly easy to collect and others aren't, most of them aren't "hard" so much as they take persistence and time which isn't truly "challenging".
So it doesn't really bother me, but I do understand the frustration.

I confess to not giving a fresh rip about achievements. Then again, beating a game back in the era of Nintendo *was* an achievement.
Can someone explain why they're as big a deal as they seem to be?

Mr. Welldone People just enjoy the extra challenge of getting them mostly and the process of fully exploring the game in so doing, and it can become abit like Pokemon... "Gotta Catch Em All!"

I don't have a lot of experience with PlayStation or Xbox, but in the brief amount of research I did to catch myself up to speed, I found an old news article that said players who earn the Platinum Trophy in Spider-Man will receive an exclusive avatar for their PlayStation account. Do Platinum Trophies usually come with a reward like this, or is this unique?

@autumn I am reasonably sure that is unique. Generally a platinum trophy is awarded for just "getting all of the trophies" out of all the PS3/PSVita/PS4 titles I've played over the years. Given this, I would imagine that implementing a plat should be no different than just implementing any other trophy in a game. But maybe in practice it's not really like that and as simple. Not sure!

@autumn No thats not the usual but I've been wishing that they would do stuff like that for years, I don't know why it's taken this long, I didn't realize they did that for Spider-Man. So far as I know it's the only example of it happening. I know that Sony did have a thing where if you earned so many Plat's you could get a free game, I never used it though so I don't remember the particulers.
And yes, Plat's are rewarded for obtaining all other trophies in a game's main list of trophies. Alot of games have extra lists of trophies through DLC and such those don't count in obtaining the Plat.

I'm very sure it will have a platinum trophy. On Reddit someone posted some sort of log for the achievements on Steam, and there were 47 of them. If the game doesn't have a platinum trophy, they would need a different set of trophies, since 47 would be way too many for a game without a platinum trophy. And I'm sure they will use the same list for every version.

You can go all the way back to 2010 with Final Fantasy XIII giving you a theme for earning the platinum trophy.

Did this already leak this far from release? 47 achievements sound like a lot not to have a Platinum. Things are looking up, if true.

I’m not sure what I’m seeing here but I don’t see 47 achievements like I was just told, I see 51. I can only see a description on one of them and hilariously it’s the Crate Boss one. Why just one can be read correctly?

My assumption is that they agreed on the original fifty at some point, only to later realize that a lot of people really wanted an achievement for the Crate Boss, so someone added it in more recently.

When I first saw it, they skipped over 26, 32, 33, and 35. I figured those might get added in for a total of 51, but nonetheless, there was a total of 47 at the time. A few of them will most likely be story related, so I'm sure they don't want people seeing the full list for as long as possible. You'll probably have to wait until a site like www.exophase.com/ finds it. Anyway, 51 is an even more common amount for trophies. The first four PS3 games I played all had 51 trophies, so at the time I actually thought all games would have that amount.
