Ever since the Wayforward announcement I've been seeing some alarmist posts on other sites wondering if Dico was removed from development duties for RotN. Is there any chance we can get an official statement on this? Either way it seems like a good idea to nip the speculation in the bud.

The last two posts have shown nothing about Dico. Nov post talked about Wayforward, and Dec. post showed pictures of Artplay's 6 person studio in Tokyo. I tried looking to see what i could find. Dico still lists the game on their website, and their last news update on their site is about the awards BS got at E3 2018. That is the last evidence i could find of Dico working on the game. Is Dico still working on the game? If yes, then what is the relationship between Dico and WF? If no, is WF the main developer now?

When Wayforward was announced, my gut instincts told me that their involvement was more than to simply quash bugs. I would *really* like to see some gameplay footage of a new area or something concrete besides monster reveals.
I hope I'm wrong but it wouldn't surprise me if they are now a lead developer for this project at such a late stage.

That explanation has never sat well with me. I've never heard of a developer like WayForward being hired solely to fix bugs, nor does it make much sense.

They were reluctant to disclose Inti Creates termination as the primary developer until several posters on this very forum pieced together the clues at which point Artplay admitted that Inti Creates would take on a greatly reduced role (ie. they would only be involved creating Curse of the Moon).
I truly hope this isn't deja vu, but as I said earlier, my gut says Wayforward has a greater role than what we are being led to believe. For the next update, I think it's absolutely crucial that they show some gameplay footage of a new area even if it would only be a minor part of a teaser trailer. I cannot speak for everyone, but many posters here and especially on the Kickstarter page are sick of seeing monster reveals; such reveals were fine during 2016 and early 2017 but it's time to prove that genuine progress has been made.

Why hasn't WF released any statement about working on BS? The Chinese branch of Artplay may have shut down. Artplay was founded by Chinese businessman Jacob Feng and Koji Igarashi in 2014. Their first projects were Code S Plan and Bloodstained. Code S Plan never materialized. The Chinese branch was listed on the Artplay site as late as 2017, but not on the current site. The third Artplay project is Revolve8, a mobile game developed by Artplay and Sega. Initially Artplays' mobile games were to be handled by the Chinese branch, but Revolve8 is being handled by the Japanese branch. It is not clear how much the project is an Artplay project vs. a Sega project, but Artplay CEO Jacob Feng tweets about it a lot. Artplay's role in the game might even be over. Also interesting to note that Iga left Konami specifically because he didn't like working on mobile games. These seem to be facts, but below I will post speculation. Speculation: The company may be in financial trouble, had to close the Chinese branch, and take on another project. Revolve8 will have higher priority than Bloodstained since there's a set deadline, and they're working with another company. It could also be the other way around, where Artplay's role in BS is mostly done (they were doing the directing/designing), and all that's left is technical programming which WF is handling. Speculation: It might be that they don't have anything else to show. WF hasn't worked on the game long enough to produce something akin to a new demo. And Artplay's 6 person team might have been busy working on Revovlve8 as well. We don't know when they started working on the game, or even if their role is complete. WF might even be re-building the game in a new engine.

If you would like to be sure that 505 doesn't miss your questions or concerns, you should tag Question and/or Angel-Corlux like so. Thanks. That's pretty out there, fightingcomelightly . I don't think ArtPlay is developing the game at all. I think Iga's involvement is merely just as stated - he assisted with character design and that probably ended before we even heard about the game. Feng's tweets about it, far as I can tell are all just retweets - it doesn't seem that the Revolve8 account follows him either out of 450. He might have helped Sega get up with Iga for his part or he may have some other vested interest in it, but as far as ArtPlay development, they're only Bloodstained. XombieMike asked Iga's agent about Revolve8 during a podcast around Halloween this year if you want to hear his take on it:

purifyweirdshard I'm keeping what seems speculative separate. Dico not working on the game, and the Chinese branch being closed seems pretty straight forward. Tagging Mana as well.

As for DICO, they are still working on Bloodstained with Artplay and WayForward.

But what about Monobit? Since it wasn't said specifically it's obvious they all were blood sacrifices to Lord IGA!
