I am fine with this, I prefer the game to have more quality. There are still many games I have to play on Switch that I just don't have time for, and now I got some time while waiting for Bloodstained. I wish SotN would be somehow released on Switch as well. Fun idea, not sure if it's possible tho, what with SotN being on PS. Not even VC can bring it on that I'm aware of. :/ Konami can release a Switch port, I think. They released a Super Bomberman game for Switch. Symphony would be so amazing on Switch. I think it would sell many copies.

I don't think Konami's too interested in releasing anything anyone actually wants. But it would be awesome if they'd rerelease some of those older Vania titles. As far as I know, the only way to actually play the DS titles is to have the cartridge and a DS or 3DS. At least there are a few options for SotN if you have a Sony console or a 360. DXC's a good buy, and the 360 version has achievements if you're into that.

So yeah, I think I more or less agree with you when you say the original quote probably shouldn't be treated as an absolute. I think, especially through a modern lens, the quote speaks more about Nintendo's philosophy towards patches than anything else. Their games have occasionally had a serious issue that needed patching (like in Skyward Sword and Pokémon X/ Y), but they generally like to try and get it right the first time (I believe the Hollow Knight devs mentioned this when working with them to get their Switch port out, but I couldn't find the interview :'c). Reviewers generally don't re-review games after patches come out, but even if they did, I think it would still be hard to deny the power of a first impression.

I'm just slightly annoyed they delayed it without giving an actual release date like Angel Corlux said he would if it got delayed again. The PS Vita port cancellation hurts most of all though, hopefully Nintendo does indeed release a Nintendo Switch with better specs and improves the quality of the physical product so I can get it there as the only other portable option.

I prefer a delayed game that a non-perfect one. Games nowdays have thousands of patches, day-one patches and fixes months (and even years!) after release because they are all rushed, it's ridiculous.

No Man's Sky Next generated quite a buzz recently, most are positive. It's hard, but it's still doable.

Delay was expected. I'm not even touched personally by the Vita cancellation but in the last few months this project has taken a turn in a bad direction, not entirely of course but certainly a bit. I can't help but think if maybe the game would have been better (and would have took less time) if it was more focused and all the resources went into solid, unchangeable objectives. Because announcing the game for a portable console (while all the other options are home consoles or PC) and knowing beforehand that having fifty millions stretch goals would make it impossible to release the game in the original expected date and beyond it's a very, very puzzling decision to me, now more than ever. Oh well, nothing left to do but wait for the final result now. Putting up a kickstarter campaign and completing it are two very different things, even with an established studio. Stretch goals always seem doable when you write them on paper. You're not wrong that a smaller scope would have been more efficient, but hitting the bigger scope (while riskier) can result in a much cooler game. Risk/reward. Games are made in a similar fashion to movies. You hire a producer and director and fill in all the space below with craftspeople to put it all together. It's an amazing and maddening process. Despite movies being over a hundred years old, nobody knows how much one will cost or how long it will take. There's too much human factor involved because everything is handmade.

But the feeling in the air, at least for me, is that it is taking a very long time with no target or goal in sight. Think about all the talk about releasing a release window in a future update. Internally we have targets and goals, but production needs to hit certain milestones before we can know if those targets and goals are obtainable. Until we have those boxes checked, we'll be cagey about an actual release date, but we aren't letting production be aimless. Bad news is always bad news, but if you look at CotM, Inti Creates got bad PR from how the codes and everything were handled, but once the game was available, people really enjoyed it because at the end of the day, the game is what matters. While we hate to disappoint even a single backer, we want to be open about the process and make sure that when we reach the end of the journey we can be proud of what we accomplished.

I do wonder if this delay is to add polish to the game? (not that it doesn't need it) or they planned originally set the release towards the end of fall/ beginning of winter 2018 and they don't want the game to compete with something like smash brother ultimate.Another possible Iga must really want this game to be released on a March 20 since he missed it in 2018 he wants it to be released in 2019. Regardless a more detailed update on where the game is would be nice. This is not a case of delaying the game just to avoid a busy gaming season. If it was at a releasable state in 2018, we would launch. We feel (and those who played the demo can see), there's more work to be done if we want to knock it out of the park.

Bad press about CotM? I scarcely remember any at all. The press (and of course reviews) were all overwhelmingly positive. There were many frustrated comments, but not so much articles or reports that I can recall.

Thank you a lot for your answers Question (that sentence sounds odd lol). I already stated what i think, but i wanted to add two more cents on the whole discussion. First, i think the negativity about the delay can't be avoided. As i said above, the Mighty Number 9 ghost is still upon us and people keep remembering it. I think the damage made by the delay can't really be healed completely. It is just something that happened and that's it. Second, i really believe IGA wants to do the best that he can, and that includes listening to fans and backers...sometimes, a little too much. From Vepar's look to Miriam's walking speed, IGA listened to everything people complained and i really think he shouldn't listen to fans and backers that much. I'm sorry if this will sound offensive, but people need to learn to be a little less demanding and stop complaining about everything. As i said before, several games nowadays have tons of delays. Doom 2016 took nine years to be completed. Mass Effect Andromed., on the other hand, was made in roughly four years, with third-party studios to speed things up...and we all know what happened due to that (i didn't even played it, due to how awful it looked and sounded).

There were people who didn't realize that COTM was a different game (with all that entails), and some of them got the impression that it was an issue with the main project. That's what I had in mind, not the more positive gameplay reviews.

While we hate to disappoint even a single backer, we want to be open about the process and make sure that when we reach the end of the journey we can be proud of what we accomplished. I hear you, and I do appreciate the reply. From my point of view, I suppose it just feels like we've been hit with several unfortunate surprises lately. A few new screenshots (with shaders etc. included), gameplay videos, new level previews, or progress hints would go a long way toward addressing the feeling in the air, as I put it. Those would be nice surprises. That is the kind of openness that I had hoped for, I guess.
But we are told that such things are being saved for a time closer to the release. And since we have no idea when that will take place, it can begin to feel like there's no good news to share for some indefinite period of time. So, while the intent is to be open about the process, maybe there is a (self-imposed?) limitation on how open you (plural) can be?
Just my feeling. I don't pretend to speak for anyone else, and I do appreciate that this forum allows for respectful discussion and difference of opinion. It makes this a much better forum than most.

That has been a worry of mine since the beginning. So many games these days get multiple patches and they still aren't in great shape. I just started Hob, and despite being on version 1.17, the game crashed twice within the first hour. I'm sure Bloodstained is going to end up with a few patches, but I really hope the game plays well enough and doesn't force me to consider waiting until the game is patched in order to play.
