Someone said that the game feels somewhat off to them; and the thing that strikes me as off the most is how new and sparkly the castle feels. It doesnt feel lived in; play symphony of the night and youll notice the little touches and things that give life to the world youre playing in.
The trees in the background and the broken buildings of the town all seem so unnatural. For a game that is still under development in 2018 the stages could use a lot of polish in the way of making things seem more real than they do right now. I cant help but feel like I am playing my way through some plastic playhouse.
Even the character models look dated, especially during dialogue. The game play feels a lot like castlevania with a few odd things that others have covered (like range and hit boxes etc..) but it needs a ton more polish to have that look and feel to make it perfect. The engine being used to male the game feels underutilized.

I think it's important atmosphere to make it feel lived in. On the other hand, its a new castle Gebel made for Miriam if older info holds true. So... new place looks new because it may be new.
I'd rather have a well lived in castle though. Making the setting feel like something that was there and has a history long before the main character experiences it lends to the world building. CV has always been about that.

Procedural generation is an effect that will be in the final game to achieve what you're looking for, imo. While I'm hoping you are right, I'm not quite as optimistic about the effects procedural generation will have as you guys are. I have a feeling the impact will be relatively minor.

purifyweirdshard That vid does make it look more lived in but it also tones down the lighting effects A LOT which is what's causing a lot of issues in the demo currently. Get the procedural stuff back up and crank the lighting effects and this game would look more appealing. I'm with Valtiel though. I think the issue overall can't be fixed by procedural effects alone but the art style/layout/shader. I think those things are more at play than anything else. A good example like I allllllwaaaaayyyyys use..... the original castle entrance from 2016 is from when there was no procedural elements but the lighting/art direction/detail made it look not only more lived in but just more appealing to the eyes in general.

That alone, no, it's a piece of the puzzle with the fixes that I think will be coming along naturally, some of which seeming to just not be active right now in the demo that may presently be in the main build as we speak. The team either way is well informed of it now.
