I played through the demo today and overall greatly enjoyed it as it was exactly like DS-era Castlevania games which was what I originally signed up for. However, it is still a beta, so there were some issues.
1. Sometimes when I tried to switch direction to hit an enemy that had gotten behind me, Miriam instead sorta shuffled backwards. This seemed to mostly happen if I only did a short nudge of the stick or tried to attack immediately, but there might have been a few cases where she just slid backwards. I was using a Dual Shock 3 controller with third party software, rather than Windows' built-in support for Xbox controllers, but since the game was registering my input and moving in the correct direction, I suspect that it's a bug instead.
2. The lip flaps during conversations look really awkward and could do with some polish, as well as adding some body language. The minor, villager characters also had weirder, worse looking models than the leads, but in a way where I suspect it's because they haven't been finished as much as major characters yet.
3. If possible, adding a bit more dialogue when accepting missions from Lindsay would be nice. Getting essentially the same line no matter who you're avenging is a bit underwhelming, but voice actor time is costly and need scheduling, so this might well be impossible to address.
Only the first of these issues had any serious impact on my enjoyment of the game, but that one does seem like it needs fixing or later, harder areas could get quite frustrating as you die due to fighting the controls rather than the enemies. The other two would be nice to have addressed, but didn't seriously undermine the experience for me.
