Quickly attacking after jumping results in no attack

If you press Jump and Attack really quickly, Miriam will jump and possibly start an attack animation, but instead immediately lands back on the ground. I regard this as a bug since I intend to jump and attack, but the attack doesn't follow through.

Compare with another game like Symphony of the Night where you can do a short hop and attack in the same manner. In Bloodstained, it seems the short hop is much too short for the attack animation to be allowed to finish. It feels clunky to me.
