I don't know if this was intended or not, but it seems like a bug to me.
In the inventory and shop screens, when browsing the menu or a list of items, holding up or down with the left analog stick on the Xbox 360 controller or W/S on the keyboard doesn't auto scroll item-by-item. However, using the D-pad on the controller does work.
