Hello dear Bloodstained Backers and Dev/Mod Team,
so I've just played through the whole Beta while replaying to search for stuff I missed. (Which were a few items here and there + upgrading to bunny boots etc.)
So for the TL,DR:
It looks like a lot of fun already - can't wait to actually play the full release and see how it will turn out.
Annoyances:
First complain while playing the Demo I noticed the sound doesn't work if you have the sound output go over HDMI - dunno if it is my hardware or there is an issue in general.
changing my default sound device to my headphones fixed this though and the sound worked again.
Second thing that annoyed me during the playthrough is that the voice actor pronouced "Gabel" once with a hard g (like in gift) and other times with a soft g like Goerge, age etc. Now since it was only once or twice and the majority is voiced as the soft g, I will guess it was one of the first recordings and was an oversight - might be worth adjusting that though.
Other point mouth animations during conversations are horrific the only one that didn't make me cringe was Johannes but I heard it's being worked on already. Others pointed out in discord that we might even consider not having any of those mouth animations since voice acting by itself + portraits like in the older ones could be more than enough.
Feedback:
Different weapons:
I've tried them all to see how they feel however I must say if the enemies won't have specific weaknesses (which they probably have or will have) I don't see me using anything besides the boots or lance. Guns are also nice if you have ammunition for range killing they did pretty decent damage. However everything else felt really slow or didn't do nearly as much damage as the other two options I mentioned. Might be worth tweaking on those a little so everything is viable to use.
I really liked the skill based attack Un, deux, trois combo of the boots. No idea how I did deux and trois but I get Un pretty consistantly with something like "down, left/right attack". Not sure if other weapons have the same but if they do, neat.
If wanted I could go more in depth about each weapon. But I don't think that is quite needed.
Skillshards System:
Ok we get told that if we have too many of them stacked on us we might get some kind of malus, not sure if it is in the demo but I didn't notice anything about that. I liked the feature with having it increase in power if you get more than one of the same kind though. Being able to sell them for coins seems neat too if you get some that you don't want to use. Animations of the Skills were nice and pleasent to look at nothing to flashy or too boring (besides maybe "bone", but well it's just a bone we throw).
Bossfights seemed too easy. Ok they are both only the first ones and maybe I was overleveled since I tried to get a shard from every enemy (Consider my full playtime was only 1 hour until I finished it the first time though, 2 after collecting everything). They had a few different skills though which was nice in general.
Example why they are too easy (with full gear that you can get in the demo):
Castle/Map design:
That's one thing which I might say to take with a grain of salt. Since we will be getting the biggest castle yet I don't understand why there are a few rooms which we aren't able to reach right at the beginning of the game. Why make us go all the way back just for maybe one treasure chest. I could see it being a reason if we had a normal castle like the older games but in this I just don't see why it is neccessary especially on the boat. But like I said, can be taken with a grain of salt since I dislike backtracking for only a single chest in general.
Liked the secrets, e.g. going under the bridge or jumping on it while it moves to go on the castle.
Interactions with the invironment like kicking an enemy into an iron maiden... Was awesome, would love if there are more things like that.
Crafting
Looks like a nice way to get better gear. Let's see how it actually will work out. For now it was ok - made me kill a few more of those Lion guards to get those 2 Ruby's.
Can't think of anything else right now, Hope that feedback will help you to make a better game.
