I played for approximately two hours. I did almost everything I could. I enjoyed the demo a lot, but I have a few issues.
Controls were superb. I had very little issue with how Miriam controlled, but I do feel her base movement speed is a bit slow. A slight speed up may alleviate the backtracking woes.
Combat:
1. The whip without jump canceling is absurdly slow.
2. Claymore weapons attack a bit too fast. Faster than a whip.
3. This is a personal thing, but the whip has no straight attack. It's essentially an angled sword. One of the benefits of using a whip in CastleVania games was the distance you can keep from enemies while also hitting them with low-medium damage output.
NPC interaction:
1. Talking to NPCs takes forever. Speeding this up would improve the whole experience. Regardless of whom the player talks too, the fade in, voice lines, and fade out take far too long.
2. Shop keepers take a bit too long to get to the actual shopping aspect, again due to the length of general interactions.
3. Lindsay (Quest Giver) interactions are annoying. Talk > Wait for fade in > Wait for dialog to load > Menu > Accept ONE quest > Booted from menu > Repeat. Portions of this are skip-able, but the time save is negligible. Allow the player to mass accept quests in one interaction. This is my biggest complaint.
3a. Quest progress tracking would be nice on certain quests on the menu -> Kill X Y [X/8 Y killed]. X being updated with how many the player has killed out of how many Y are required.
Example:
Quest: Kill 8 Mortes
Progress: [3/8 Mortes killed]
3b. An extra confirmation that confirms the player received the reward items..
Other:
1. Some of the candles and other elements in the background caught me off guard. I thought they were objects that I could hit. Probably some lightning issues. BG and Foreground blend a bit too much.
2. An option to mute and reduce Miriams attack sounds would be appreciated. Her VA is spectacular, but her attack grunts are a bit too much. Make this a frequency slider to allow appease all people - Some want none, some want a 50% reduction, etc. 100% = Default.
3. Option for Dualshock 4 icons.
4. Minor issues with room titles. They do not fit the area in some cases (Stone room on a wooden ship)
