Redogan avoid cooking if so. She needs food. We all do. What does that mean? lol I repeat I haven't seen the animation in question yet, but it's fair to me to be a little perplexed if a girl in a demonic castle full of malevolent beings threw a dance everytime she has a meal haha everyone needs food, but not everyone would get crazy over it, especially not in a dangerous environment.

The dude throws peanuts in the air and catches them in his mouth. Goobsausage Where is the image? Did you guys see it? Did you take a photo on it? I mean, some of you were there. C'mon. I didn't take my own picture because I thought the rest of the internet would've noticed it on the stream and pointed it out along with the Vepar changes. Sorry about that. I think it might be noticable in the recorded stream. I haven't watched it, so I don't know how good the gameplay footage video quality is, and I don't remember what time it was on screen, but I think it might be your best bet to try and find it. I'll make my exit now...

Vepar 1) Vepar's new look has smaller and less "bouncing" breasts. What do you think of that?I know this is a less popular idea but I liked how she looked before, not because her boobs were crazy big or bouncy, but because THAT was what the original creator envisioned... Over here we cry out "No Censorship!!!" but look what we just did... we ended up censoring ourselves... and how much of the game will now be (pre)censored because we made such a stink over boobs? In my opinion if Vepar was big and bouncy for no reason, then yeah there is a reason to be upset but that monster had a reason to be that way; to lure "men at sea" to their deaths... anyway I am not gonna cry or complain bout the change, but in my personal opinion its sad to think the dev teem has to second guess themselves when thinking about their art style or direction. 2) Did you liked Vepar's darker look?Yes I did like Vepar's darker look, I would have been fine with how she looked before but this darker look makes her look more sinister... 3) What do you think Vepar's shard will be? The Shards on her body changed from Red (Trigger?) to Blue (Effective?) if that's any indication, although Shards colors and enemie's colors doesn't have that link in the game...
I don't know... it could be anything... but if I would have to guess, maybe the water attack she does... or maybe tentacles? hahaha... Miriam grows Vepar's tentacles that swipe enemies and enemy fire down protracting Miriam... but again I don't know Food and Cooking 1) What do you think of the feature of increasing Miriam's parameters by using a new cooking item for the first time?
I just hope the game is really harder if they are adding all of that... 2) Miriam's animation while cooking is cute / kawaii japanese style. That kinds gives her a carefree vibe. Do you like that or do you think it doesn't fit due to the game's darker nature?As long as it fits her... we don't know how her personality is... all we know is how badass she is (and we don't know the depths of her badassery. I think it will paint a richer more in-depth character if she shows different sides of herself. 3) IGA said during the interview that the game will have some subtle signs on where the "natural flow" of it will go and that if you get lost you may overpower yourself a bit by leveling. It seems that alone was a reason to make the game a bit harder than those of the past. Considering that and considering food give permanent bonuses by cooking and using it for the first time, do you believe the game may end up being too easy?
I am that kind of person... I will end up waaaaaaaaaayyyyyy over powering myself (I like to explore and find souls/shards/items) I just hope this does not make me too over powered... also I still think there should be an experience blocking item in the game (like a null exp ring or something... or an exchange exp for gold item and/or ability early on lol that would be aweosme). Familiars1) Do you believe Buer's old Shard will be fit in some other enemy or is gone for good?naw they will have his old shard (or that ability) in the game some how. 2) IGA said in the past that the game will have a good number of familiars, but it will not be a ton of them, probably to better develop each one. For now, we have 3: Armor (placeholder name, winner at fan voting on Kickstarter), Dullahammer Head and Buer. We have no idea how Armor will behave, Dullahammer Head is a flying one that attacks anything while Buer must be somehow "stimulated" to really do something. How many familiars do you expect, and also, you expect other gimmicks like Buer?I like there being less familiars... they can focus on each familiar's personality and maybe their growth... I would love it if the familiars grew and became a more evolved version of themselves... not like pokemon but more like slight changes as each one levels up maybe somthing you don't notice until you see the enemy again later in the game and look at yours and then you'll notice they are way more different then when you first got them. Hey all, great to see such detailed discussion! I'll be uploading a "post action report" to try and offer better images / video etc. as well as give you a glimpse of other stuff you didn't see behind the scenes!

To be completely honest, I think her new boobs look better. Not to come off perverted but I mean the bigger they are doesn't always mean better folks, visually they look really nice now. Proportionally I think she looks way sexier and less cartoony in a ......monster sort of way of course.

Whatever floats your boat CastleDan, I agree with you they look better and i can see they work better with the new art style. To be clear the point i was attempting to make before was i wouldn't want the japanese feel of the game to be compromised in an attempt to appeal to western audiences; I seem to remember IGA saying that he was gonna make a Japanese game for a Japanese audience and if the rest of the world liked it then it would be a bonus. I get that designs change over time and less cartoony proportions fit with a less cartoony aesthetic. I just wouldn't want this to be the first of many artistic compromises in order to appeal to a wider market, I know it's a stupid thought though as IGA wouldnt compromise his vision for Bloodstained.

m0nkf15hI'm totally with you and it's definitely not a stupid thought. I don't think anyone here wants a compromised vision from IGA. I think it'll be easier to judge the character model when we get crisper pics but i'd wager they will look good in proportion to the character whereas I get the premise of why they were big to begin with but it was almost a little goofy and distracting before. Having said that, again I get why you'd have concern that people might censor his original takes of his ideas but I wouldn't worry too much about that. Angel-Corlux has already implied that isn't the case in this instance. Let's be real, Vepar looks like a total fox now compared to her old self..........just a bit more scary at the same time ;p

Almost every game out there has some kind of cooking system that gives temporary status boost, so you're encouraged on using them only in certain situations and, in the end, you never uses them (well, maybe the only exception are Final Fantasy XV and Trails in the Sky saga). With this first time parameter boost I'm going to feel compelled of doing every possible combination of dishes just to get the permanent effect.

"Cuteness is justice". It shows she has personality and in the end is just a normal girl. I don't really think that the game "daker nature" is an excuse for characters with the same type of personality. And, well, immersion is a failed concept in my opinion, so yeah.

I mean...honestly, it sounds a little strange, but "booby mode" actually sounds exactly like the sort of silly cheat code that had been promised--it's funny rather than gamebreaking, and doesn't seem too difficult to implement. However, clipping might be a problem, so I think they may want to hold off on that if increasing any characters chest size means having to redo their clothes, etc. :blush:

On Vepar: Definitely prefer the old design. She's a lot less intimidating now, the color is drab and her design is a lot more generic. Old Vepar looks like a monster that's out to kill you while this new thing looks like the figurehead of the ship got blown up and turned backwards. Why does everything with a slight human resemblance in games have to look more 'realistic' or 'relatable'? I play games for the fun of it and for experiences I can't get in real life so the crazier the better I say. Nuts to political correctness. Nuts I say! Regarding her shard; don't care, I'll adapt.
On Miriam and food: All fine with me. Her looking cute while she cooks will provide a bit of a breather from her regular seriousness.
On familiars: I'd rather not have too many and will try to make do without them as much as possible so I have no strong opinions on that subject.

In fact - and I was one of the people who didn't like the boobs - what many of us said was not that we were offended, but that we thought they looked silly. The feedback Mana relayed was "boss color palette/breast size & physics." So it was never about censoring, it was about atmosphere - the look was too cartoony. Now, here's IGA's answer to the question of why the changes...(translation from transcribing the original japanese)... えっとですね、2年前のE3で、最初にデモを送れたと思うんですけれども、その時にちょっと、背景の雰囲気というかゲームの雰囲気に比べて、ちょっとカラフル過ぎるとか、まぁ、色々、こう、ユーザというか、バッカーの皆さんから、色んな意見を貰って、で、そこで、まぁ、あの、全体的にその、あの、まぁ、物理シェーダーというか、そっち側にちょっと絵を寄せようという時期でもあったので、じゃあ、もっとモンスターぽく、なるように、かっこよく演出できるようにやりましょうという風にして変えたんですね。 Well, it was back at e3 2 years ago that we first offered the playable demo, and at that point, we got a lot of feedback from players - from backers - that the look was a bit too, like, colorful for the backgrounds, the game's atmosphere, and so, well, um, it so happened we were at a point in development when we were making the game's overall look more in line with, I guess you could call it phyics-based shading, so we said, alright, let's make some changes to it look more monstrous, with cooler behavior and such.
In other words, they were already thinking of making some changes. Feedback from the backers helped them decide. One thing we need to understand is that what we saw, in the demo, is similar to a look at the first draft of the first chapter of a book that's a work in progress. In no way does this represent the writer's original vision - it's an attempt at getting somewhere with the story, and the writer wants feedback in order to finalize his or her vision. Also, bear in mind: the original Vepar was made by Inti Creates. We don't know if they worked on this model or not, but ArtPlay is not the same entity, and IGA's not a dictator - there will always be a push and pull between the artists, directors and programmers, and the final product might not be any single one person's original vision. That's just not how it works. So don't worry, guys - making changes based on player feedback is not the same as compromising one's vision to conform to censorship. IGA's making the game he wants.

Good points about the Vepar redesign....
The glowing eyes and limbs and you can see her top face more clearly
The bad points....
The metallic looking skin is ugly
The redesigned teeth on her lower section just looks bland and uninteresting to me. I actually really liked her teeth in the original I did'nt realize how much till I saw the redesign. Also her "fangs" now cover up the teeth witch sucks.
The color changes and darkness to the colors don't do anything for me, I clearly remember Vepar from the demo because she stood out and was noticeable and I thought the colors really complimented the stage, she could have been alil more darker but as she is now I honestly have to go back and keep looking at her to recall cause she so forgettable looking now.
And yes her boobs, the only thing that is better about the new boobs is that they come to abit more of a point suggesting nipples witch I like but otherwise no I don't like them, and it sucks that Iga felt the need to change them cause some people were or may upon release pitch a fit, I know that they've suggested that thats not what happened but from the wording in there responses it seems to me that thats exactly what happened, I'm not mad at them I understand there reasonings. I'm just disappointed. So altogether no I'm not really a fan of the changes.
