Hey! Some folks in Shoutbox below our forums started to talk about Mac & Cheese.. " purifyweirdshard : Why would anyone want nega-mac? I need mega mac" It got me thinking
We have a shopkeeper in the game (or well, at least two.. Anne being an apprentice of Dominique), or maybe more. I remember that we could sell rings in Symphony of the Night (SotN), but that was like what we could sell overall in that game. I also remember discussions on the forums for a cooking minigame of some sorts. This perhaps would be translated into crafting instead which are part of the game still. Find stuff to create stuff, simple idea and cool concept. When it comes to Buying and Selling at the shop. Would you rather, (sorry no poll, too much going on in this thread, please comment instead)..A1. Only buy ingredients, items and food.Ingredients means objects, bodyparts, stuff that you need to craft something, either food, new weapon and armor or potions of any kind. Items being thing already crafted items in the store. Food is.. food.. Tasty! A2. Only buy items and food.Duplicator included? A3. Buy/Sell some items and food.Random system, or not.. Just not full range of items can be bought. Could also be locked until you finish x% of the map, or gained a specific level. A4. Buy/Sell all items and food.Better inventory overview, ofc you can never sell important things. A5. Buy/Sell some ingredients, items and food.Semi-full control of your inventory at the shop, ofc you can never sell important things. A6. Buy/Sell all ingredients, items and food.Full control of your inventory at the shop, ofc you can never sell important things... or? AND.. B. Do we want a buyback option if we can sell most of the stuff?AND..C. Would you like to buy a Mac & Cheese at the shop? If yes, do you want to find the ingredients first and have it as an easter egg? In any case, would you want Mac & Cheese, Mega Mac & Cheese and a Nega Mac & Cheese (that might poision you, or work as an anti-poison perhaps?) My personal reference:
A:5
B: Yes
C: Find ingredients first, cheese and macaroni if I want to craft / make it at the shop. But also find finished ones in the castle. And all three of them, making Nega a pretty magical treat with perhaps a random buff, or curse when consuming.
Thoughts?

I don't cooking will ever be implemented in the game, as there is so much to put in already.
I feel that food is usually obtainable as is... a list of ingredients would make it fun, but much more complex... and then imagine if they were monster drops, mobs would basically end as piñatas. *grins*

A: 3 Can't buy everything, and shop upgrades as you progress. Good way to prevent cheesing harder fights. B: No. Essentially I want anything you can sell to be something you could get again. Impossible to make a permanent mistake, but at the same time you would need to be sure you wanted to sell a rare item in the first place. C: No. What would be better than finding Mac N' Cheese in a wall?

A. Either works for me. I like grinding though so I would want with gold. B. Buyback would be okay as long as it only lasts until you leave the shop, otherwise you could just have an interest free pawn shop essentially. C. Enemies and chests also work. Not a fan of crafting food in my Metroidvania.

I think food could either be bought, dropped from certain enemies or found in barrels/walls/etc.
The whole crafting food gimmick reminds me of Tales of Symphonia: "Lloyd failed to make a sandwich". It seemed somewhat out of place then and I don't feel it would fare any better now.

I agree on the food guys, but its important to brainstorm too. Eventually some smart guy might come with a brilliant and fun idea, and helps perhaps out with creating a Castlevania 3.0, who knows? Food found already made is nice. I just curious about crafting, perhaps there will be enough of things to do with armor and weapons when we know more about it, so no need to take food into consideration.

Sorry if my post came across as harsh - that certainly wasn't what I intended. It's hard to convey tone through text. I wonder if we could craft potions though? Normal potions such as health and mana would be nice but even ones that provided temporary buffs would be great (rage effect for 120 seconds and so on). Previous games had uncurse and anti-poison but it would be cool if they would expand the selection.

Time 4 TeaI never saw any harsh in it?! Maybe I did sound offended, haha, I didn't all good. I just likes to talk about Bloodstained and I am most of the time happy about it. Yeah about crafting and forge and all that.. Its anyones guess, we have no clue. We know its in there but no details have been brought to us. I just think that if you kinda find 1 ingredient, you unlock something in that shop, since they now have the ingredient to make.. Potions or whatnot. A shop could be level-based only too, or just have everything on the go. Gonna be fun to know more about it.

Welp I guess I stand corrected. Someone mentioned that there will be cooking in this game so color me pink . I do like that Johannes will function as your alchemist; I find NPCs stand out more when they actively help you rather than simply existing to further the story.

My opinion:
A: You can by everything at the shop: Gear (weapons, armor, acessories), healing itens (potions and food) and materials for crafting. And you can sell anything at the shop. Obviously, you cannot sell key itens and stuff like that. But you can even sell one-of-a-kind itens and equipments. THe shop doesn't start with everything, of course, and it upgrades slowly as you progress in the game.
B: A Buyback option is nice if you sold something you didn't want to. As long as you are inside the village, you can go back and buyback what you sold by mistake. Get out of the village, and it is LOST FOREVER.
C: Mac & Cheese must be a crafting food item. BUT you can only craft it AFTER you find one in a wall.
