yeeeee, loving the new hairstyle, hope theres a long braid or long hairstyle thats super flowy
love that the swordbreaker (dagger) is held like it is in sotn, hoping that if you hold the button you get the old guard stance too since its super useful for farming weak respawn enemies

Woo! I love it when I can customize my character's appearance with different equipment! That being said, I really hope the Body slot will also show up in-game. Leaving it at accessories and headgear only would feel pretty incomplete and the colors could really clash. I expect you'll at least have costume swaps for the main clothing, but having the breastplates and such show up too would be great!
I also hope that we can eventually customize the appearance regardless of which equipment we're actually wearing (as in vanity slots). I wouldn't mind if this was locked until late-game though.
It's also always good when you can choose not to have a slot show up at all, if you prefer the look without it.
I'm excited for the updates in the coming month!

I can't help but think that the big hot surprise we'll hear is... that Iga successfully obtained the Castlevania IP from Konami. I mean, didn't we have a relatively recent dev update where one of the devs says something about Dracula coming back? Or maybe I misheard or something...

Angel-Corlux I would suggest putting (Update 57) into the thread title to make this easier/better for archival processes. I'm also embedding the outfit video below in case some people can't get it to work on the KS page or don't want to head over there. I gotta say, Miriam looked a lot like Vergil from Devil May Cry with that haircut at the end This begs the question though - how/where does Miriam change her hair? Is there going to be a "demonic" barbershop in the game? Will this be done from the in-game menu? Stuff like bunny/elf ears, maid headress, etc. are all cosmetic items and don't effect your stats right? We still don't know much about how the "Customize" system is supposed to work and how it will differ from normal equipment that also shows up on your person. Looking forward to December update(s)! I hope they don't disappoint

Angel-CorluxOkay, I absolutely love this update. It's something I always enjoy about my favorite castlevanias - the customization. The scarfs being changeable while expected is nice to have actual confirmation. I think the hair style stuff is pretty cool too... I do have one criticism but funny enough it's not really about the topic of the debate- The Fire SwordIt looks absolutely awesome, but is that the actual sound it will have in the game or placeholder? To use SOTN as an example ( I'm so sorry I always do this ) but part of the great qualities is the cool unique swords felt even more unique not just due to the visuals but the sound associated with them. 2:46 in that video and that deep bassy sound really sells that it's emitting fire. Now, it might just be placeholder but if not ....I guess that's my only criticism...that the unique weapons will have unique sounds

Okay, so much as I dig all the hats and hairstyles and scarves I gotta say the hypest bit for me was that amazing flaming sword. The game's visuals are just so pretty.
I'm also quite happy the bunny and maid stuff exists, because to me part of the essence of Castlevania is that for all the Gothic architecture, Vampires, Werewolves, Zombies and Banshees about the games always had a funny side to them, be it the Electric Guitar from CoD or the pie and paper airplane from PoR. I'm glad to see the humorous side of IGA's games is alive and well.
And I really dig the giant rat. I especially like how it gets more freaky looking the longer you look at it, at first its just big rat but then you notice the bone/spines on its back and THEN you see all the EYES. Was this thing a pet of the Witches of Hemwick?

Well Dan, this sword might just be the "Firebrand" and the N...Marsil equivalent, the "powerful sword of flame" probably won't be until later. After all, there isn't a stronger fire weapon. iirc the Firebrand made a normal attack sound. That said, it's a good point to make and bring up again, and it leads into what I wanted to say actually:
The two handed axe's sound. It sounds like the lighter swish of a sword swing, but could really use a satisfying clang or heavier woosh.
That is my scientific woosh clang assessment

Lovely update! The sunglasses at the end of the video were pretty funny. I like this hairstyle too, really gives her look a different "attitude". The new weapons looked really cool as well. I agree with Dan that there should be a fiery sound for the fire sword though. I like that rat enemy. The eyes are damn creepy! Could be a cool familiar too.... maybe?
The promises of big surprises in December sound cool but I'll not get too hyped up about it. Let's just see what comes when it comes. This update for instance surprised me - and I was happier about it than I would have been, had it been announced as the biggest thing ever.
To read that they are in a crunch period seems a little disconcerting. Are they not on track so they have to do crunch time? I wish for the team that they don't overwork themselves even if it results in a later release. Take care!

purifyweirdshard You bring up a very valid point that did escape me. I forgot there were two fire type swords, I guess in SOTN it didn't bother me because there were a lot of unique weapons with unique sounds and unique looks. However, I could throw that criticism at SOTN as well.....there's fire on the firebrand so it could have used a slightly different sound effect, even if it's a bit weaker of one. The Heavy Axe comment you said, same thing....the more variety in sounds and effects the better. Question to people in this thread : Does anyone wish for some of the special weapons to be a bit slower in the swing? Like a normal sword might be very quick but weak but something like a Fire Brand be a bit slower when she swings from one side to the next but deals a bit more power. I just think it'd be nice to see the visuals a BIT longer and to have that added oomph to a special weapon. Not sure if there will be differences in speed between some sword types within the same style but I think that'd be a good thing to mix it up. ( if it makes sense to the team at all ) Edit: I wanted to add - While we've seen that environment a lot ( not sure if it's the same entrance area we've seen or just one of the repeated rooms you see a bunch with slight differences ) but I'm seeing much more color and detail going into the environment. The floor has some color, the yellow markings, the tile has some color to them. More of this....that's what the game needs

Love that last hairdo w/sunglassess look (think that's the look I'm gonna try to give Miriam when I finally get my grubby little hands on this game ), even though it makes me think of Trinity from The Matrix trilogy

Wow! Another update! I think this is the first time i'm actually online when an update shows up haha. Well, as usual, here goes my analysis. Now with detailed feedback, since Angel asked so nicely. THE BUNNY COSTUME
I'm late! I'm late! This bunny costume is REALLY cute. I loved the small details, like the faces at the stockings and the fact that the scarf also has the same pattern and even her shoes. One constructive criticism through, are those bunny years. I just realized it was bunny ears when i actually read the costume was bunny-themed. They are too dark for the rest of the costume and looked a bit more like weird horns. The rest of it is great. THE ELF EARS AND MAID HAIRBAND
An elf maid? That is a great combination... Nothing to complain here. The elf ears look like elf ears and the maid headband looks like a victorian maid headband. It's interesting that, even with those visual costumes, Miriam still looks badass. THE FIERCE HAIRSTYLE
Spiky anime-hair! I LOVED this hairstyle! It makes Miriam looks even MORE badass than she already is. Spiky-anime-like hair with strings covering one eye is a killer for any good character. I also have no complains here, it really looks good. THE RAPIER
Stabbing with elegance This rapier, blueish at it's blade, with flowers close to the handle, is a beautiful sight. That stained glass and flower pattern of Bloodstained is quite something, and it is impressive how unique and beautiful it looks at a weapon like that. No complains here. THE KNIFE
Ripping flesh This knife looks wicked, it seems to have some scale cut at the other side of the blade. Putting that thing inside someone and pulling it out is guarantee to rip it off some flesh. A cruel weapon for a cruel mission. No complains here. That kind of knife is a given. Any game that has knives as weapon, will have one of these. THE FIRE SWORD
Bloodstained's version of Firebrand (SOTN) / Laevatain (AoS/DoS), Agni's Flame (PoR) NOW that's the real deal. The first obviously magical weapon revealed at the game. It's nothing special if you think about it, it's just a Sword engulfed in fire, but it looks so damn good at Bloodstained and it's so great to see weapons like that in the game. I really hope we have weapons like that for all the other elements of the game (ice, light, lightning and dark). My only complain is the same as CastleDan . A Fire Sword must have a fire sound. And that one doesn't. THE KATANA
Miriam, the Ronin
This is a really big Katana, with a thick blade and a big range. I find this weapon to be the most "plain" of all weapons at this video. Nothing much to say about it, due to that. My only complain, i think, it's due to how plain it is, but that is a given for a game so long and big like this one. THE AXE
Cutting down some demonic trees? I love how you can see and feel Miriam's strugle to attack with such a oversized axe. This axe is also kinda plain compared to the rest of the weapons, but even so, it stands out simply due to it's size. I like it. No complains about it. THE LANCE
Range is everything
This lance is truly beautiful and it reminds me of those overly elaborated chinese weapons of the past. I like it how long and detailed it is and it's pattern is awesome. It reminds me a bit of Alucard's Spear from Portrait of ruin and that's a good thing. THE GIANT RAT
Coming straight from the 70's D&Ds
I totally agree that any game like this must have a rat. A big, menacing multi-eyed spikey giant rat to bot. I really liked how ugly and hideous (in a good way) this enemy looks like. I'm sure it will not be much, more or less like a fodder or an annoying pest to be killed, unless this giant rat is really huge. I believe it will not have a shard, like Morte, but if it has, it will be either a Trigger "Summon Giant Rat" to summon copies of it to walk around or some random stat bonus from Enchant Shard. It would be REALLY WEIRD AND FUN if such a monster could be a Familiar...but i fail to see what that thing would do. CLOSING COMMENTS
The costumes are fun and raise a lot of questions that i'm sure going to make sometime later in a thread, but the weapons are the most important reveal for me, at this update. I was worried that Bloodstained would end up having "plain uninteresting" weapons because that's all we saw since the first demo back at 2016. Just plain swords, maces, knives and such. It's so refreshing to see those weapons, specially that Fire Sword, because that confirms that Bloodstained WILL have great-looking unique weapons. I knew the game would have that, but i really can only believe in something with actual proof. And here's the proof. So, the dev team is on crunch time. According to the internet, this means: "Crunch time usually occurs during the period between the next-to-last scheduled milestone and the final deadline for delivery."
Also, i don't know if it is just me, but the scenario at the background looks more detailed and colorful, doesn't it? [CastleDan ]Damn, my posts are big so i end up not seeing what other people posted! I asked something but you already answered before i asked haha. I'm also dying to know what will be the annoucements in December that Angel is suffering so much to keep his mouth shut about! Anyways, thanks Angel-Corlux ! Great update. Small, but with quite a lot of stuff to talk about. OOOH, AND SHE HAD SUNGLASSES AT THE END. Just noticed because someone else said it. That's all folks!

I can't spoil things just yet of course, but I would say rest assured, because this hair style isn't the only other one, and every single one I've seen the team make makes Miriam look absolutely gorgeous, and I say that as someone that is baffled how most games put in a character creator with like 200 hair options and only 3 that are even decent. -_-

CastleDan Hey there, happy to hear you liked the update, and don't worry about referencing SOTN, it's totally natural, and you know I've told you before that I want to hear the good and the bad, so don't worry about it, really. To answer your question, it is indeed placeholder, and although not *every* weapon will have its own sfx, there are lots of different sfx for lots of different weapons. An example of this can be found in the fashion show video itself if you listen to the standard swish noise of most weapons and then hear the sfx for the heavy axe.
Regardless, I will make sure to communicate this feedback to the team to doubly make sure. Thanks for the constructive feedback!

akuwa Haha those are actually historically accurate of the period, and although you don't see them when Miriam isn't fighting, I agree they could stand to look a little less pronounced. Will bring it to Iga and see what he thinks, thanks for the feedback!
Yän Fair enough, I'm not trying to overhype things, just really excited about all the cool stuff I get to talk about in December. Definitely always keeping in mind the balance of not ginning people up TOO much because then they expect Iga on their doorstep with a SOTN cake haha. As for crunch, it's crunch in the sense of we have certain internal deadlines coming up and lots of cool stuff we want to make sure we get just right.

Hello! Agreed on the bunny ears, I had already noted that for feedback to give to the team, so they will hear us hehe. For the fire sword, you can see my reply to Castle Dan above, and yeah just like there will be amazing beautiful weapons, there will also be some more "ho hum" weapons that are meant for early game or even just for those who want a "simple" or "realistic" look.

estebant A little late to reply to you, but now after Angel-Corlux has confirmed that nothing Konami or Castlevania related is happening, this is what I was originally talking about:
"The resurrection of Count Dracula is at hand" ........... I'm not sure anyone caught this and questioned that strange small portion of the update video, and this video was from all the way back in June. Maybe I'm just wierd
