I thought I'd make a thread dedicated to the most obscure songs from the saga. We all know the great classics, but what is in your opinion that song struck in your head which should really get more recognition?
As far as I'm concerned, I'm a sucker for the majority of the OST of Castlevania Legends, even if I never played that one myself. In particular, this piece is a work of art and, albeit short, one of the most beautiful boss themes in Castlevania history.
I really love the energy of the track and the very Baroque inspiration (which is common within the whole OST). The almost contrapuntal way the two melodies intertwine is also remarkable.

Ryngar Acia: oh yeah, that's a fine piece! I think they recognized it when they decide it to re use it for Adventure Rebirth (which was a bit hit and miss with track selection, but had some really nice musical moments).

Don't Wait Until Night was worked into Julius' theme, so I'd definitely say it's appreciated in that way. Haunted Castle's OST is pretty solid in general, neat to see it was released on PS4 recently. Kind of random though, honestly lol. Man that game is hard...
My plan was to link an individual OoE song, but I think that's too hard. Every single piece of it is under-appreciated lol. shit

For me it has to be Original Sin from Castlevania II: Belmont's Revenge. Never reused, never remixed by Konami... It's sad. Also one of my favorite games of the franchise. |

doesnt sound like much but it fits the area perfectly with sounds of steam and churning machinery making up most of the song
both games dont get near enough love for their awesome ost, loi especially

I'm really fond of Mad Forest from Dracula's Curse. Aquarius (also from CV3) is "the little song that could" to me since it was basically forgotten after CV3 until CotM. After that it appeared in Adventure: Rebirth and Harmony of Despair. Mad Forest by comparison only showed up in Judgement, though thankfully the composition in that game is excellent.
Also I happen to really like Boss Opening from Rondo of Blood? It's a goofy song, but it's unsettling and puts you on edge as you anticipate what kind of weird and creative enemy awaits you in the next room.

haha Galamoth, those weren't some of the OoE songs I was thinking of, but they're good. Now since Generic brought up Castlevania 3 (I've always liked Aquarius/Mad Forest and consider them fairly popular)... THIS song tho: OoE version. The song and the extra level they use it in, PRETTY TITE. Funkdoc told...me, or his stream can't remember, that this was his favorite song. It really benefited from the extra sound chip the Fami version of 3 had. But yeah we both played Guilty Gear so I know him, same for Kayin (guy who's making Brave Earth: Prologue) ;p |

To be clear, I wasn't thinking of Riddle when I said OoE songs. More like the OST as a whole, including just about everything that's original to that game. Rhapsody of the Forsaken, for example. You never hear those songs brought up. Sapphire Elegy, Ecclesia, and I really like the distorted guitar-y songs too...

One of my favourite Castlevania tracks ever. It is kinda short though. This is what I hear when I think of Castlevania or classic horror such as Dracula.

Many great tracks in here folks! I have to say that unfortunately I dislike the vast majority of the Nintendo 64 'vanias' OSTs for some reason. They just doesn't click with me, or the atmosphere I have in mind when playing Castlevania. On the other hand the PS2 vanias have probably my favorite OSTs in the series. Curse of Darkness sure is my favorite, but LoI is also a gem.
