Brainstorm time!Would people like the idea of unlocking cross-"promoting" things if you own both games? For example, having beat the prequel, the 8bit tracks could be unlocked and played in Bloodstained. While beating Bloodstained, the modern music could be unlocked in the prequel? What more could we have?- A secret message, which need both pieces (both pieces of each game) to see the whole message. Maybe something from IGA?
- If same small part of an environment are the same in both games (like a statue, a tree or something), if we do something around or on it - perhaps it will reflect in the other game? Just as a backdrop piece of thingy.
- If used same familiar(s), perhaps we could unlock more talk from them, if they have stories to tell us about the prequel days.
- If owning both, perhaps unlock a pixel enemy in the modern castle somewhere, and a giant beast in the prequel?
Any more ideas?

In Castlevania Judgment, if you connect Wii to Castlevania Order of Ecclesia on DS, you unlock Aeon and Shanoa at the start, without the need to beat true story mode with them. There was also two acessories that could ONLY be unlocked by doing that connection. So, i believe that this is a cool idea and should be implemented somehow. My idea is based on two stances. Having the prequel game itself (having it's save) and / or having beaten the prequel game. So: IF YOU OWN AND / OR BEATEN BLOODSTAINED PREQUEL, BLOODSTAINED: RITUAL OF THE NIGHT COULD UNLOCK ONE or MORE of THESE:A) A special familiar shard that is a pixelated two dimensional 8/16 bit goofball. It shows up as a breakable Green Shard candlestick inside Dominique's shop when you sucessfully obtain / beat the prequel and Dominique has "no idea how it got there". Goofball does not add to the game's % completion, so, players that doesn't have the prequel can still get 100% of Shards without it. B) Dominique's shop is updated with all the soundtracks from the prequel (in the form of Vynil disks, like Order of Ecclesia) that you can buy and listen as a substitute for the in-game music. Same as above, prequel's vynil disks aren't added for the % of the game's completion, if that exists.
C) A costume for Miriam that is basically Miriam dressed with nothing more than a robe and bandages (the look she had when she woke up from the coma) is added at the inventory. Since the prequel will happen during her coma, it kinda makes sense. Same as above, this clothing isn't added for the % of the game's completion, if that exists.

How will we get the prequel, by the way? I remember reading that the prequel would also be out for 3DS, but I also know that the game itself will not be on 3DS, and you can't select any 3DS version to back. Will it just be free for everyone, or will we get a code with a game that can be used for 3DS/Vita?

Prequel is a stand-alone game, which you can buy on all those systems you can choose for the Bloodstained - Ritual of the Night. There is no mention of 3DS anywhere, but Nintendo Switch and Sony PS Vita will get the game along with Steam, GoG, Ps4, Xbox One. For backers, this game will be included (saving a few bucks?).

So, for backers the game will be included on the cart/disc and for others it will be a separate download that will take up memory space?

Perhaps one of the other two playable characters in the main game (who I assume you won't normally have access to until clearing Miriam's story), will be the main character in the prequel.
In which case, beating the the prequel would unlock that character in the main game earlier maybe?

I like the idea of features unlocked in the main game. Personally, I'd want to go for unlocked music, illustrations, zones, NPCs, symbolic items... (but not listed as in the menu, simply secret content. Imagine people not owning the prequel trying to obtain it then raging much upon learning the truth). I don't think that having the two other characters unlocked would prove any good. It would dampen/annihilate the motivation to clear the main game.

In which case, beating the the prequel would unlock that character in the main game earlier maybe? I think the main character you play in the prequel are Zangetsu, which most likely will be the 2nd playable character in the main game. When it comes to actually "unlock heroes" by combining games, I dislike the idea. DLC for prequel or main Bloodstained would do better with new character, I however dislike that idea too. The mentality around DLC should not be "pay-to-win", it should be digital goodies that does not change the core gameplay, story or attributes. Only virtual things like a new set of wings for Miriam running around with, or an aura around her. Maybe items that are applied "onto" an item you already have to change shape or color, but not strenghten it. Lootboxes / DLC in games that use the nisch "you do not need this, but it looks cool!" are a mentality I enjoy. Giving us options that are equal in execution is hard when it comes to balancing numbers. Those numbers (stronger, faster, better in general) are almost always given to new characters.

For me it's a solid 'no interest'. I've always deplored companies that hold back content for players that don't have two separate pieces of a franchise, or rather, two games. That's one thing that I hate about Pokémon, for example. Gotta have two versions of the same game to fill the Pokedex? c'mon. Or when Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS were released, and Mewtwo (The first playable character DLC) took a while to become a paid DLC? C'mon. Really? (Game Freak/Nintendo)
No I've no interest in this. Sorry.

I agree with that Pokémon example. To enjoy a full game. This is however not the idea. This is about making Pokémon blue instead of yellow. DLC is a no go on characters, like I said.

I don't think it's possible anyway since there's no way for 3DS/Vita data to speak to PC/Xbox One and so forth. For this to actually work, it would have to either be the same platform for both the prequel and main game, or at least the same parent company...(3DS to Switch, Vita to PS4, etc). That would make for extra hassle on the team, though.
There are bound to be a lot of players that want the prequel mini-game on their 3DS due to the portable legacy of the franchise, but the main game isn't on the 3DS and/or they don't have a Switch. So...how does any unlock data move to their PS4 version of Bloodstained from the 3DS? It doesn't heh
What I'd like to see from this though is something I brought up two years ago or something now, but essentially, playing through the prequel and paying attention gives you subtle hints to certain obscure secrets in the main game. Maybe a clue as to solve an otherwise impossible puzzle, or a background piece being/not being present in one version or another gives you an idea of how to find an item. My specific example was story-related, too...
Say during a prequel cutscene, Johannes, fed up with the alchemist's guild, casts away a signet ring given to him by them into the waters/moat surrounding the castle (which may not have been there then). You learn at some point in the main game that the alchemists' rings transmute into innocuous rocks when submerged in water. Later, you're able to freely traverse the huge body of water around the castle, and if you can recall the general area of where Johannes threw the ring away, you can navigate to that area and (like other areas) there are rocks that can be moved like Yorick's head, i.e. kicked around. If you use the subtle hints to figure out which rock is the ring, you can navigate the waters with it, using clever movement, kicks and platforming to bring it to the surface. If it's just a rock-rock, well, you wasted your time and it just rolls ashore. If it's the ring, when it hits the air, you get a useful artifact.
I think specifically this one would do like, +% of finding craft materials or success rate of the process, if that's a thing.

Maybe a clue as to solve an otherwise impossible puzzle... How about hints for the future?? Other game franschies mention things, even predictions, poems. Later on when the next game were released, and the following Expansion, stuff was as written yeeaaaars back. That is kinda awesome. But hints, secrets and tricks for both games are something I would enjoy, that Johannes Ring example was awesome.
