No. Pixel art does hide flaws better than any other style. There is less amount of details that can be contained in pixel art, so a lot of the picture is completed by your imagination, excusing a lot of imperfections or inconsistency. A 2D HD game, with HD graphics shows just as much as flaws as a game with 3D models. The thing is, the more details, the more work you have to make it looks consistent.
