I fixed Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition on Steam. It even shows 360 button prompts. Why Capcom hasn't made a proper HD version of that game with some actual graphics options or even porting that HD version they made for PS3 and 360 to Steam(again with at least some minimal options) is beyond me. Easy money, or at least I think that would qualify as the easiest money they could make since the Mega Man Legacy Collections. Impressions: Anywho, with that game it was like riding a bike. I'm doing a lot better than when I first played it and eventually beat it after taking about a year and some change to do so. Funny little tidbit, after doing so I did a revenge run of DMC1 which was notoriously terrible. I didn't buy abilities, all I did was up Devil Trigger and buy a TON of items. I deleted my old profile because why would I play hard mode with a terrible profile like that? I deleted it and started over and I found myself getting higher than C's in style meter. Yay! For this run of DMC3, I'm getting S's a lot more often. I'm using jump cancelling and weapon cancelling and all that jazz. I have a hard time using Swordmaster for some reason. Gunslinger and Trickster was pretty easy. Royal Guard might be the hardest to use from what I remember. I'm not that good at timing at all. It's going to take some practice. But I like how I'm better at this game than the arguably easier Bayonetta and definitely better at this game than Devil May Cry 4(SE). Also playing Nier Automata again finally. Not much to say: Dynamic music is back, but it's not as fluid as in the original Nier. The transitions are jarring for different areas, but those singular areas have great transitions for their own songs. So, it has mostly dynamic music this time around rather than fully dynamic. Cool, but a bit disappointing.
No, I have not gotten any endings. I got a long way to go with that one.

It's been a while since I last posted on here (well over a year) so I'm not gonna bore y'all with a long post talking about every single game I've played since my last post. Currently replaying Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II - The Sith Lords via Steam, and with the Restored Content Mod.
It's really funny how you can save the galaxy (doing what a hero/"Light-Sider" would do) and still be an evil Sith Lord in this game, with the maximum Dark Side bonus. Just take advantage of Influence with your party-members, exploit one certain glitch, and even select the [normally hidden] Dark Side option on Onderon after winning the civil war for Queen Talia.

I'm restarting my second playthrough of Persona 5. I got the bad ending on purpose last time because by that point the save file wasn't good, but I didn't want to lose any demons. I almost maxed out all of the confidants this time. Only ones I'm missing are Tower, Hanged, Hermit, Empress, and Strength. I also have a ridiculous amount of money for what I actually need in the game. 1.5 to 2.5 million yen. Not as insane as I've seen people have, but waaaaay more than enough.
So far, I still HATE the Okumura arc. Unlike a lot of folks, I don't hate Ryuji. Thing is, it's not like I don't get why they hate him. Thing is, I can't stand Morgana. I think I dislike this arrogant feline more than Teddy from P4. Thing is, my dislike for him is partially the devs fault due to how at some points the game would force me to go to bed...when all I'm doing is waiting for someone else to do something and not because I'm tired. If I'm tired, I can just have Kawakami come and..."massage" me. This is infuriating and it gets old. Back to Ryuji and Morgana, so that's why their little pissing contest just came off as obnoxious rather than compelling or interesting or funny. Ryuji lacks tact and is a total moron that never owns up to certain mistakes, but Morgana is far from innocent. He takes nearly every opportunity to shit on Ryuji unprompted, even during battle. I did a comparrison and Morgana has talked more shit than Ryuji 9:1 up to shortly after the Okumura arc. Yes, I counted. If anything, Ryuji has more patience than Morgana and that's sad.
I still don't know what happens after the police station when Akechi shoots me in the head for no reason. I heard the way the thieves get out of this police situation is 100% bullshit. I don't know what happens, but I'm already soured which is a shame. I wanted to see how on my own. Thankfully people have been surprisingly cool about not spoiling this game. More so than usual. I'm still staying away until I see that true ending. The game is still good, but I wouldn't call it game of the year. That goes to Nier Automata so far for me. I'm also playing Kara no Shoujo after hearing so much about it. My friends said it was only ok and not memorable and others say it's pretty exceptional. I'm playing it and so far I'm agreeing with my friends. It's not amazing. I wonder if the sequel is better.
Also killing Tojiko was cheap shock value and made no sense within the plot. Even when you consider "crazy killer", targeting her is way too out there.
Actually the second mystery as a whole felt unsolvable by myself as far as details. The who, maybe. But after that, no. First mystery was better. I still gotta get the True Ending/Toko ending. But so far, not that impressed with it. That's it for now. I aim to finish Nier Automata before Christmas.

Dragon_of_Dojima Automata is pure gold, enjoy it especially Route C onwards. It feels like a different game. It's not as perfect as many deemed it IMO but it's undoubtedly a masterpiece. Also, envy for Persona 5. I want that game but I have to wait at least till Christmas to get it. I bought Devil Daggers on a whim for PC, it's an old school FPS in which the goal is surviving into an arena with fixed enemy spawns at different times. It's an extremely skill based game and getting do 270 seconds on my part required 8 hours of practice. There is one achievement (the only one) for getting to 500 seconds and I wanna get that but I'm afraid it will prove to bee too much for me. My current personal record already seems like a titanic feat to me lol I also completed Ori and the Blind Forest recently (I missed it until now), pretty good but also really frustrating for the wrong reasons at times. I lack a "main game" to play besides Devil Daggers at the moment. I have stuff on Steam I never played and I will play some of those game, just... not now. My next "big" game is probably going to be Rise of the Tomb Raider.

freddythemonkey I need to get around to Automata, heard good things about and it alot of stuff about 2B. Anyway, probably soon. Rise of the Tomb Raider is great and you'll enjoy the fact that it has more tombs to explore if you felt that was lacking in the 2013 reboot. Good stuff all around!

That game is definitely some good times and I've often wondered if it may have any hidden ties to a couple characters in the new trilogy. Great game, though and even better with the mod to fix some things.

Arcueid Brunestud : what was your operative system? I'm a massive Lovecraft fan and I've already wanted to play Dark Corners of the Earth but I always held back, scared by the tales of complete unplayability and horrifying bugs on modern OSs lol I bought some things thanks to Steam sales, but no big games. Currently I'm playing Okami HD on PC (it's as incredible as I remembered, no wonder it's my 2nd favorite game of all times), as well as the first episode of Hitman 2016 which is currently free (I didn't think it would have interested me that much but I'm hooked, there are so many possibilities and unlike the older games the feel is very smooth) Might & Magic Clash of Heroes (I already played the DS version years ago, fun little game) and Electronic Super Joy (to satisfy my thirst for tough platformers). I have a ton of games to start. To name a few: Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep and 3D from the PS4 Collections, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Tales of Berseria (just bought for sale, never played a Tales of but this one intrigued me and the price was low enough), FEZ and Layers of Fear (which I grabbed for free on Humble Store). I shouldn't buy anything new for the time being (time is what it is and exams are incoming, I can't play hours and hours every day...) but I'll PROBABLY pick up one new game for the PS4 in the near future. Either Horizon or Crash N Sane Trilogy.

I gifted myself Persona 5 for Christmas. Now I'm so pumped, can't wait for it to arrive. JRPG is a genre that I really want to love but I am extremely picky about it and I don't enjoy too many games. Persona is one of those series I love so I'm really excited.

Motoko: it's here! I try to restrain myself from playing it too much haha in two days I've played like 8 hours... anyways, it oozes style, it's so incredible to watch. Currently at the first palance which I wanna complete ASAP, then I'll start exploring the world map for S Links and stuff. I'm almost completely blind, I don't have the same OCD to do everything that made me anxious in P3 because I know there is a very exhaustive NG+ in P5, so I'm able to play the game at my own pace not worrying if I miss some stuff. I'll have to alternate it with Hellblade: Senua Sacrifice, which I started today. This game is haunting and incredible so far, imo it's how a "walking simulator" should work. Make an engrossing atmosphere and story, keep some actual gameplay mechanics: if the game is finely crafted, they will corroborate the overall experience, no matter how simple.

I beat A Hat in Time and...Doki Doki Literature Club in the same day. I did the latter first and was proud of myself for getting the best ending. The former...the final boss was heart pumping. Especially when I equip the fireball power up. Then it becomes a "shoto battle" like Ryu vs Ken. Next up is continuing Automata. No, still no endings yet. Broke my hopes to finish before the new year. Also, first post of the year. I also played a bit of Axiom Verge too. It's a great game that is definitely worth the $10 I paid in my opinion.

Doki doki is pretty creative, though after Undertale and Pony Island it was less surprising for me haha Get on playing Automata 😎 it will blow your mind in a similar fashion. Axiom Verge is a game that's very well received but personally I hated it. I love Super Metroid, Fusion and so but part of those games'charm was FEELING lost. In Axiom Verge I spent more time wandering around aimlessly and trying every power everywhere and it became very frustrating 😂

Now playing:Pokemon - Ultra Moon:It's about freaking time that I try to get into the whole Pokemon craze, and what better way than to finally play a mainline Pokemon game! Just started the game and chose Litten as my first Pokemon! Seems to be a light, easy-going RPG compared to the games I recently played, and, in all honesty, a great game to play within my current gaming rotation. SMT Devil Summoner 2 - Raidou Kuzunoha vs. King Abaddon:This is the last SMT title in my PS2 backlog that I haven't completed yet and coming from a recent play of the first Raidou game. It is so nice to get back into an SMT title that has Meguro's guitar and the Kaneko artstyle! Really dig the battle music here, both the normal and the boss versions, after completing Raidou's trial. And two demons fighting with you at the same time? Oh yeah! Final Fantasy VI (aka Final Fantasy III) SNES:Really enjoying the back-to-back SNES FF playthroughs so far since all of these titles are of such high quality relatively speaking. I played this title back in the day for a short while before I traded this game with a friend for DKC, which I have deeply regretted. Now it's time to finally give FFVI a fair shot after all this time, and one hour in so far, I'm having a blast! >>>> Update to my previous post below. Will try arranging based on things spoiler-y and non-spoiler-y this time!Etrian Odyssey V - Beyond the Myth:Finished the game with clear time of 112:33:46. Completed the post-game with the best ending as well as defeating the superbosses. About 20 of the 110+ hours were for party prepping seemingly required for post-game. I used the Wizardly DLC which immensely helped in experimenting with party member combinations and getting them up to speed during post-game activities. A really good ending for what may be considered the very last true EO title. Oh, and the FM synthesis BGM has been godly and proved to be so worth the purchase! Starting party was Masurao Pugilist Harbinger / Necromancer Shaman. I stuck to this party until the master classing became available, which is when I switched out my Pugilist for a Fencer, switched out my Necromancer for a Warlock, and switched out my Shaman for an Herbalist. And so my party which I kept until the final boss was Blade Master - Chain Duelist - Deathbringer / Elemancer - Merciful Healer. This team held up quite well obviously, but it wasn't until losing to the final boss where I felt I seriously needed to do analysis and find the best party make-up in order to have a chance against it. I liked the gameplay dynamics involving the crystals in the fourth stratum. It was a fun experience in how FOEs react to the sound of the crystal barriers being hammered, and together with the warp crystals helped contribute to a nice flow and an engaging atmosphere uniquely. I felt a huge rush of excitement after finally defeating Tyrant! This made my efforts in going out of my way to re-strategize my party after going so long and 4 stratums in a row with what I called “my main party”. My Tyrant-defeating party ended up being 3 Barrage Brawler Pugilists in front, with a Shield Bearer Dragoon and Merciful Healer Medic in the back. The Pugs were absolutely necessary for trying to achieve a constantly head-bound Tyrant to ensure a victory. As it turned out, I only used this party makeup for the Tyrant fight, and only briefly for the start of the sixth stratum, I went back to my main party.
Using a suggested party makeup from a gamefaqs thread, I was able to defeat Star Devourer within 4 turns. My party was 2 Therian Chain Duelists, 1 Deathbringer, 1 Deathguard, and 1 Barrage Brawler, all at level 99 and were retired once. I also had a bunch of various binding items in my inventory for my strategy. It mainly involves having lots of luck on my side in landing AoE binds on SD and all of his parts and seeing my Chain Duelists trigger chains upon each and every successful bind landed. The first two turns were for prepping the fencers, while turn 3 was basically the make-or-break heavy damage dealing section of the fight. Mostly I was able to get SD's HP down to ~40-50% at this point, but this wasn't enough and will pretty much guarantee a gameover and a restart. On the third or fourth try at SD, I was able to get SD's HP down to ~10% on turn 3, and turn 4 took care of the rest. Disgaea 2 - Cursed Memories PS2:Got the best (cannon) ending at 78:52:02 on the save file and Adell at Lv 92. I expected some sort of continuation from Disgaea 1 and was not disappointed in that regard. The level grinding is just as addictive. But the story I felt wasn't as good as Disgaea 1. I never needed to consult a guide or go online for an FAQ or walkthough for this game (and also for 1), and this is a huge plus for me for the Disgaea series in general. It's obvious from the start that this game is about Adell and Rozalin. But it was really neat to see some old characters back, such as Laharl and Etna, to work alongside Axel the Dark Hero, Tink, and Yukimaru (zam!!!). Laharl really stole the show for me once his cameo cut-scene took place. Really great voice acting, including from Tink and Etna. I just can never get tired of hearing prinnies in their prinny voices say “dood!!”, I love it! Plus, it's always funny attacking chests to obtain their contents, especially during a 3-4 character group attack. Objectively, it makes absolutely no sense, but it's just so funny! After the final boss fight scenario opened up, I found out about the “Nekomata trick”. This is where, due to the rules of how enemy capture works, it's possible to easily obtain a level 9999 Nekomata for your party. I indeed had one level 9999 Nekomata in my party availability roster, but used here very sparingly. (No, I don't consider this cheating!!!!) The final boss fight with “Zenon” was fought fair until 9 of the 10 summoned party members died, and Zenon had ~2000 from his 22000 hp left. I then summoned my Lv9999 Nekomata to the rescue. Fair fight overall, though! Final Fantasy V PS1:Finished the game at ~54 hours. I managed to reach the final save point in the game at around the 39 hour mark with my party level at the low-to-mid 40s. From that point on and for the next 15 hours, it was all about level and ABP grinding. I ended up maxing out all jobs and bringing my party members' levels up to the low 60s. X-Death is one of if not the most ruthless villain in all of Final Fantasy. The enemy called Tonberry makes its debut appearace (as “Dinglberry”) here. My initial party was Knight Bartz, Blue Mage Faris, White Mage Galuf, and Black Mage Reina. I quickly picked up on the fact that the character length of each party member's name is five, which is what this Final Fantasy title is numbered as! Pretty neat! Overall, I felt cozy and right at home playing this game, despite the fact it's not a good port of the original. I loved the theme of trees here, and the usage of green and brown/tan color is amazing and done really good I think. It may be very well due to the fact that I was playing this in front of a CRT through component cables. Also worth mentioning is that this is an old-school RPG where once you finish a fight with one or two ailments inflicted by your once-alive enemies, they don't automatically go away. Better use that Eye Drop outside of battle! The most difficult part of my playthrough was at the final area. This was due to enemies having some really nasty attacks. BehemoKing can totally own me if my attacks just don't happen to defeat him in one go, since then he'll cast Meteo (sometimes multiple times in a row) which can easily kill off one or two party members. There's the Roulette attack which randomly chooses one person to insta-kill and even considers the spellcaster. But the most nastiest is the Zombie status. If one of your party members gets afflicted with Zombie, not only is that party member rendered dead, but also is “possessed” and uncontrollably attacks other party members! But once the battle is over or during battle, the ONLY way to cure the Zombie status is to use Holy Water, which is only available as an item. This effectively works as a Phoenix Down, in that it brings the cured party member back to 1 HP. Then you need to get the party member's HP back to full with Potions or a Cure3 cast. All that work from a single ailment affliction! I can wholeheartedly agree on the consensus of this game being a not-so-good port. Wyvern is translated to 'Y Burn' (why), and there is a red-colored bunny rabbit enemy called 'A Rage' (it does cast Arise before it dies, so maybe that 'question mark'?). Faris' dialogue as a pirate is completely unnecessary doesn't match up to the source material, but it helped to keep in mind that the translation is not good from the get-go. There are obvious in-the-way input timing issues and sound compromises too. Seems that when there's either some visual or background AI activity going on, cursor and menu movement gets a bit jerky and ruins the gameplay flow. And that's not including the five-second load time between battles! After completing the game and checking out a video of a live run of FFV on the SNES, I can confirm that it's not just most of the sound effects sounding muffled as the only sound problem, but also there may be something like an additional sound channel not in use on the PS1 port. The music from the SFC version has a much richer sound, and in knowing this right now, I really owe it to myself to pick up a copy of the original sometime soon and do a more thorough playthrough with it. On my new playthrough, I will also go for the superbosses, which in the PS1 playthrough I did not, including going for a set of the best weapons recommended for the superbosses. Still, I'm thankful that there is -A- version legitimately available to play and that I had the chance to play it. I really wish I could have played this game before playing and finishing World of Final Fantasy, as there are so many references I would have caught on to and enjoyed WoFF more if I'd have done so. Main example is Gilgamesh! Now I get why and how he is what he is. And also the Iron Giant, who was a very important late-game experience grind enemy who I got to see for a long time. Happens to be that the Iron Giant in my WoFF run was one of my most used L size monster for my stack. Endgame party: All bare jobs, lv 61 Bartz with Sshot and Mimic, lv 61 Faris with Mimic and Summon, lv 61 Krile with Redx2 and White, and lv 60 Reina with Mimic and Summon. I was able to easily defeat Neo X-Deth with barrages of Bahamut summons with the help of each party member's Mimic function, and occasional doublecasts of Holy.
Krile looks SO CUTE as a White Mage! I wonder if this was an inspiration for FF9's Garnet.
Faris obtaining the Hydra summon and hearing one more cry from the Hydra , and the ending sequence where Krile is comforted by her party members, were some really powerful moments in the game for me.
Very cool ending sequence, with the 3 party members riding a chocobo and Krile flying on a dragon in 3D, which fits really great as for a lead-in to the start of FFVI, and later on in the sequence, the character stats with the bloated pixel art of each character.
