Hey guys! As you may have noticed from the latest mini-update, the Fangamer team said "Your regularly scheduled update is coming very soon! IGA has prepared introductions for three of the characters Miriam will meet as Bloodstained gets underway…"
So, who do you think it's gonna be? I have some ideas:
1: I bet we'll see a female shopkeeper type character, like the jeweler from OoE or something. More girl power! ;3
2: A character that helps with weapon/item fusion, since we saw weapon alchemy in the initial kickstarter concept art
3: A recurring villain type character, like Gebel's right-hand man or something.
What do you guys think? Any ideas? :hype:

Those are pretty good guesses, I think. lol, the OoE jeweler certainly had her fair share of...power ;p
I'm expecting kind of like village NPC people, maybe two of the three, and the last one perhaps someone you see in the castle. A merchant, story character, someone who has to be rescued, etc.
The recurring villain concept strikes me as the most interesting, though. I've been wondering personally, what will be our "Death" in the series? Or will Gebel himself be the recurring, non-final villain, like a Shaft or with how the end of LoI played out.

Laura sure had a lot of "power" and plenty of "plot". I would love to see a new character as "powerful" as her in Bloodstained. (I'm not kidding).
Anyways, there is an aspect of the plot that IGA said a lot of time ago and very few noticed, in a interview. This: "The Alchemists’ process of grafting magi-crystals into Miriam's flesh has turned her into a beacon that calls demons down to earth—an experimental puppet. And there are dozens more like her, abandoned children and orphans whose disappearance no one would ever notice. When the Alchemists took the children in, they formed friendships with each other—the only others dealing with the same situation. Gebel was one of Miriam’s closest friends."IGA also said that those children ALL had special powers, but none of them survived. What if some do survived? I thought that, maybe, one of the characters could be one of the children cursed with the magi-crystal curse to became a beacon to call demons down to earth, that also survived the curse and received unique powers for itself. He/She could be a supporter for Miriam, maybe giving out quests. Or maybe he/she is a supporter of Gebel, on his dream to wreak havoc in everything. Another thing i thought is that maybe Gebel could have a cult of followers. 10 years has passed between Miriam's curse and her awakening and Gebel was cursed before her. During those 10 years, Gebel destroyed the guild and probably did other hideous things, (Zangetsu is a demon hunter, he hunt demons during those 10 years). That is enough time to build a cult of followers. Maybe those three (or two? or one?) could be followers of Gebel, in his plan to bring the "fall of mankind". Gebel's reasoning is something we also have little information as of now. He wanted to build a place for Miriam, but the curse devoured his mind and now he wants to destroy everything. Why? Insanity? Revenge? Evilness? There are a lot of details we don't know yet, so, it is a little hard to speculate.

- A merchant or a special quest giver would indeed be one type of NPC. Possibly female, to maintain ratios. I'd rather want a mature, collected, charming, concerned one rather than the spunky, witty, energetic type. - Another type of character would be the naive, overconfident fake hero/heroine trying to rival you, wishing to test your progress and strength, but never succeeding in the end. - The master, always willing to teach you new techniques. Let's just hope it's not the old man type. I am tired of them. - Finally, the rather cold yet not cruel foe linked to Gebel that wishes Miriam wouldn't snoop around but live a "peaceful existence"... How could she be fine while afflicted by a curse and witnessing the planet being invaded by demons? (Let's hope it will be someone with a personality and characteristics different from Death)

i could see an armory run by a duo (one does the framework and the other does the fine detail and polish) that have cool lore/vague hint banter if you stay in the shop long enough or show them certain items youve found, or a general store run by a demon of greed that helps you because theyre hoping you offing a few powerful demons will help their chances at promotion (plus you buying stuff means more money for them and not dying to you, so win/win, plus theyd be the perfect person to use the phrase "evil, not stupid" >P)
im more interested in the quirky personalities these people can bring, these people have to either be nuts, desperate, or too bound to this town to not want to leave, and that can make for some very interesting dialogue

Just had a plot idea that at various points throughout the castle (probably locked behind boss fights) are magi-crystal cursed children chained up and used as summoning beacons to keep demons flowing into the castle. You have to free their souls and stop the flow of demons to that part of the castle.

I'd be happy if even just one of them would tease Miriam by calling her "Frilly McPoofy Pants."

I like the Floofypants thing too, as well XD XD

I don't remember who originally suggested this one, but I'd also be satisfied with in Bloodstained with "Little Miss Poofy Shorts". Just as long as it has "poofy" in their somewhere... As for the three new characters, my guesses are: -A shopkeeper -A secondary villain -A character heavily involved with the backstory, but has little involvement with the events going on in the actual game. OR -Three characters with different personalities and physical traits mentally/physically combined into one character. You know, because it's a horror game and that could end up being creepy and unnerving.

I think they're going to delay the update until the 1st, come up with 3 really, really odd characters as a joke, and then a bunch of people are going to want them included in the game anyway even though the next day they posted what the real 3 characters they intend to showcase are.

-Did we have archaeologists in this time period? If so, I'd say an Indiana Jones type would be refreshing. They would be exploring the castle to find relics of the past. -If Indivisible can have a super hero party member, then we can think of something. Perhaps a super hero demon, like Etrigan....with less rhyming.....or more. -A right hand man/woman villain would be awesome. He/She could be a reflection of Miriam in that she fully succumbed to the curse and is REVELING IN IT! He/She could be the rival character. -Last but not least, I'd like a demon chef. Why? Because. Make sure it's a giant gorilla. No, I will not give up until we have a monkey in this game.

I'm loving Dominique and I hope she ends up playable - she looks legit skilled and powerful in every sense of the words.

crocodile and CastleDan Well, we do get the happy little shopkeeper girl in there, but she's not overly energetic. And then I'm sure Alfred is not a good guy, he will be one of Gebel's henchmen/his advisor. I'd rather give the role of final boss to a demon... unless he became one and still has this disguise. Note "was" and "lost his former self". Deadly hints. I'm also confident that Dominique will be playable, as Anne can take care of the shop while she is away... And you'd think an exorcist would be called to stay around and twiddle her thumbs. The reply's no. It's not like in that sort of game NPCs wander around (Where? Why? Aren't they afraid of monsters?) to do errands and other mundane stuff. Miriam is the tasked one to complete quests, after all. P.S.: Hmmm, plot power. Approved. *Ahem*

We don't have enough solid info to support Alfred being one, I was thinking something more along the lines of a sidekick/minion/servant character for Gebel (I should've been more specific on that), and if he ends up being a bad guy he could end up being the final boss/main villain instead.

actually, id be more willing to put alfred in a different state if he turns out to be villainous id say he becomes the 'death' analogue, not the power controlling gebel
id say he finds the book halfway into your quest and he slowly starts manipulating the castle with it and growing more powerful and powerdrunk as you go on, eventually seeing everything connected to the incident as plagues to be wiped out, not necessarily an evil character to start but gets far more black/white in his judgements on the quest to regain the past and recreate the alchemists, finally succumbing to the madness and facing you just before gebel as he unleashes the books power and becomes a far more twisted version of gebel with little control over his form and power due to his short time exposed to this power (sort of a 'weak' spray and pray chaos type boss as opposed to gebel being a very calculating opponent that keeps you on your toes through devastatingly focused attacks)

Maybe Gebel persuaded Alfred to become his ally, or was it the inverse? Do they really work together? Is one ready to betray the other? Back then the idea was to save Gebel if possible. Now Alfred is in the mix. Who can redeem himself? Who will be destroyed for being beyond redemption? We will get the answer once Bloodstained is fully prepared!
