Operation: Akumajo announcement Fellow Bloodstained fans. Operation: Akumajo has considered changing their mission statement regarding the Castlevania series. This is big news that should not be taken lightly. The facts were counted and it wasn't a decision that was easily made. cecil-kain Is a great voice of the people that has effectively communicated the desires of fans to those who need to hear them. This groups combined voice has let IGA know that we support him, and who knows how much confidence that gave him to move forward with what we now call Bloodstained? I am saddened by the state of Konami, but if Operation: Akumajo's future lies with Bloodstained's path then we are in very good company. Consider that during the Kickstarter campaign this group was concerned about the IP rights belonging to IGA. As soon as they had solid information from IGA via the Reddit AMA they were quick to respond with a positive reassurance to the community that we can indeed trust that the future of this endeavor of a game belongs where it should.

I'm not sure how I feel about this... I mean I love the fact that Iga can make the game he has always wanted to, and now he has the proof to back up the idea that these games can still command a following.
But at the same time, Castlevania is VERY close to my heart as an early favorite in my gaming world. Abandoning it/setting it aside to me would be equal to having to do the same to Metroid or Zelda. While it does indeed look horribly bleak, it's not as though Konami has officially announced that there will be no more Castlevanias period. So in that, there is a small kernel of hope. But it is admittedly VERY small.
I guess I can understand the change in direction, but rather they start a new group for Bloodstained. I mean Bloodstained is a new beginning so why not start a new group? And just on the off 1 in 10 trillion google that Konami were to bring Iga back to make another/one last/more Castlevania game(s) I would like it if Operation: Akumajo was there to support it. I mean maybe it still can be even with a change in direction to support Bloodstained, but I'm not sure how easy it would be to support both ends.
I guess I'm really just torn between support for what I know vs. support for what I know could be....

I, for one, never understood the draw to mobile games... that is until I noticed that my wife on her down time likes to play those "3 in a row SAGA" type games. I tried one out, heck I even tried a hidden object game and some RPG like game. Not at all do they have the feelings and emotions and just the mere jovial reactions I get with a console (yes PC included). The mere escapism I the reason I play a Dragon Age or an Eat Lead. I WANT to be that character... and yes a 40" or 60" TV helps with that but the music and controls and the visuals... it all makes the experience cohesive. A cell phone just doesn't do this. Yes, I can burn an hour with mind numbing "ooh I just got a 5 in a row combo red!" but as a gamer... and more importantly, as someone who in their 30's spends alot of money on games... I EXPECT MORE. I want my moneys worth. If Konami or any other company wishes to not cater to me, well just like my fast food options, I will gladly super size somewhere else. Since our voices seem to not be heard, lets have our wallets speak for us!

While it's quite painful to admit that the castlevania we know and love is resting inside a exquisite gold-lined coffin guarded by the most powerful of foes, we have bloodstained to look forward too! And Bloodstained itself will be imbedded with the very DNA of the series we know and love, just refined and redone to make way for a true spiritual successsor that I'm sure we'll cherish for many centuries to come The army of the night is immortal! |
