How would you convince someone who backed Mighty No. 9 on Kickstarter to Slacker Back Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night on Fangamer?
I fear that the total number of backers + Slacker Backers is not optimized is because people fear backing a game that may become bad.
I wish to come up with a list of logical solid reasons for people to trust Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night (before backing it).
The Early Alpha Demo of Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night had positive feedback. Mighty No. 9 had negative feedback from Early Alpha to Beta to release.
The incentive to back at the $60 pledge is to obtain a secret room, weapon, in real life slip case. This edition will not be in retail. With Mighty No. 9, there was no such scenario.
Hopefully, but not confirmed, the Beta Access will be released with time still to back via Fangamer. You can wait for 1 month to gather feedback from the Beta access before backing. If there is negative feedback for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night Beta Access just like Mighty No. 9 Beta Access, then you will know that Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night will be a bad game.

We like to distance ourselves from MN9 as much as possible. Even this thread is something we can honestly do without.
Don't hard sell the game to people and try to use logic to make someone like the game. Promoting the game is as simple as just being a fan, and sharing the things YOU personally like about it. Share some art or music, or just use opportunities like if someone is asking you about games you are looking forward to.
We are the army of the night, but we aren't spreading the love of the game forcefully. Naturally is much better.

You could always tell him, that IGA isn't whatshisname, and that he shouldn't let one failure dissuade him from others.
If you really want to push it, finish off by calling him a racist, and that he is prejudice from one experience with the Japanese and applying it to the rest. That'll go over REAL well.

I'm not entirely sure what you mean. The fundraiser pulled in ten times what it was asking. Even comparing MN9 and Bloodstained in that regard it did better. I don't think there's really any need to convince somebody to slacker back if they weren't interested. Especially of they backed MN9 and felt burnt.
On the other hand if somebody comes to *you* asking what's different you can point out that the first demo they put out is well received and runs pretty well. Also if they point out the common point of IntiCreates then it's a good idea to point out they've done a variety of great games before and after MN9 and that they really only did what they were tasked and told to do.

exalt9: So is the issue that your friend is already interested in the game and the backer exclusive content but is afraid the game may go south quality-wise? Well to be fair, there is always that risk with crowdfunding. If they aren't already interested in the game I see no reason to push them on the subject. If they ARE interested in the game than clearly you should just get them to play the E3 demo (or watch some videos) to help encourage them. Show them successful KS campaigns and their released games like Shovel Knight and Shantae 1/2 Genie Hero to show these sorts of games can come out well. Show them Indivisible which is also a 505 published game Metroidvania-like game (though there is little to no development staff shared). If there are still uninterested after all that then let them be.
