...The question that was asked a few times was: What is the fork for? One brilliant mind then said "wall mac, of course!" I'll never forget that day.

Speaking of familiars, is anyone else kinda worried about them in this game? ....
The aspect that I loved about them was for the most part outside of the Bat in SOTN, they were unique to the enemies. They really had a personality and character to them. Does getting them from Shards worry anyone else that the familiars are more of an afterthought in the personality/originality department? or do you think we might see some of those shard pillars that might give us actual unique familiars in the game?

I think, since we are getting many familiars. They all will react diffently. Putting in some personality into each familiar is hard and I think we will see more of the SOTN "ghost" rather than Bat or Faery. I think a few will be a bit more polished than the others, and they will all have colors (not blue tint). The main familiar would be the Armor, which were voted by a few backers. That one might be the strongest in terms of personality. No matter how they are in combat, I really hope they are used for more than just running around in the castle and let them kick ass. If everyone could to a few different things each, it would be nice. The IMP had a button to press in SOTN, which I found interesting as a mechanic. I really hope the familiars are sorted into 3-4 different categories, where each category can do one of either things: push buttons out of reach, pull a lever out of reach, are so heavy they can balance out your weight or make you go higher somewhere and perhaps even aid you to grab stuff. Perhaps including a way for miriam to breath, having one collect airbubbles for her and perhaps push her to "swim faster". Others could be something that swirls the mist away so you actually can see, or light up the way for you to go in otherwise pitch black areas. The list are so long! But I guess the time and concept are probably already nailed down, and I do not think they will do much more than attack at random encounter.

I think they've said the familiars will be able to do different tasks. So, I IMAGINE they won't all be as simple as the Dulhammer Head. I'm just hoping that we haven't seen the full extent of it. Maybe some familiars you find in one of those shard pedestal things. Maybe those Familiars will be more like the Fairy or Demon familiar in SOTN that actually had voices and more things to do. That's my honest hope at least.

That's my honest hope at least. I think Mana said she didn't actually knew (not at the time of the xmas podcast anyway), but she thought they would be similar to SOTN. But with "many" familiars, it could be an issue, unless they all can do the same things, or like I said, divide them into categories. I mean, not all familiars would like water or darkness perhaps? Dullahammer Head was to be like the Ghost, floating skull. It didn't do as much as the rest of the familiars, which felt a bit off - but knowing they are under development bring my hope up. I do not ask of them to make all the familiars super intelligent, just that they are triggered in some situations to reveal an alternate path or options for us to investigate things we else would miss out on. Voice lines for familiars would be fun. I wonder how Goofball would sound like... Making insane giggles? Or " doh hjuo undhurshand he wohds cohihng out of my mouh?"

Enkeria , what about "familiars will grant passives"? That said, I believe that equipping them beforehand would be a tad annoying. Oh and used more than once... or having two passives, a situational one and one for battle/recovery, but also one active skill/spell (if not more).

Oh and used more than once... or having two passives, a situational one and one for battle/recovery, but also one active skill/spell (if not more). Think passives are exclusive white shards only. But if... Familiar had triggering buffs or surrounded nerfs, then perhaps. Perhaps even block the resistance completley if we get poisoned or struck by fire, ice and so on. I doubt it however. It would be too overpowered during some boss fights. Having them trigger things like an AI would be very interesting. Like saving us quicker in random encounter, when we are turned into stone, if thats a thing.. Just grab the familiar hammer and break us loose. I am having a hard time seeing familiars as special, when it comes to so "many", its too much time spent to make every character, even smaller in size, more personal. I would like a few of them to stand out, but just with voice lines and perhaps a greater purpose than just "fly around, killing at random".
