Yeah... That's kinda bummer for a update. But i can understand why. Here's what i think.
ABOUT THE UNDERWHELMING UPDATE
I said, long time ago (and i actually create a topic about this long time ago) that, they would reach a time when Updates would be less frequent and less informative, game-wise, because they simply can't spoil the beans every month. If they keep giving us information about the game, with concept arts, enemies, screenshots, new characters and such, when Bloodstained finally went to stores, we will know 50% of the game, at least (that's what happened ot Might no 9, by the way) and that's simply not fun. We are treated like secondary investidors. As such, they need to keep us informed about technical progress too, so, that's why they are telling us about the new dev team. We have the right to know that. But they simply can't keep spoiling the game once every month.
ABOUT DICO AND MONOBIT
I never heard of them, but looking at their sites seems legit enough. IGA is working on a mobile game company too, so, it's only natural that he knows people on that area. Besides, Inti is still with them, and those two were selected to help on the game development. In IGA i trust, and we all know that he is adding developers to the game and such, to not happen what happened to some other kickstarter titles out there...
ABOUT LESS UPDATES
We are getting one update each month. I assume that less updates means maybe one update every two months. As i said before, i know this is kinda bummer, but not only they need to focus on the game's development, they can't keep spoiling the game for us until it is finally released.
ABOUT FORUM ACTIVITY AND BLOODSTAINED DISCUSSION
To be fair, this is what made me more worried. This forum is the main contact between backers, non-backers, and overall fans and everything kinda stopped greatly due to lack of updates. We need to keep this community active, and, to be honest, i did a lot of threads in the past for that reason, but some of them didn't even had a single reply...
CLOSING COMMENTS
Eeeh.... There isn't much to say, this was a underwhelming update, but as i said, i can understand why. We need to have patience and wait. And keep discussing things here, i guess...
That's all folks!

It is good to know who the new teams are, I was wondering about that. As everyone, I would have liked anything meaty from the game development, even if it was just photo of IGA or developers working on the computer Also, it would be good to know soon what is happening with the Wii U/Switch version of the game. As updates will be less frequent, maybe Mana can provide some unofficial tidbits from the office from time to time. Anyway, I am just happy to know everything is going fine.

While this update didn't spoon feed us a lot of information it did provide some critically important details we can use for speculation. As many of us may know, making a video game is a monumental task. A team of easily over 100 people performing work on every aspect for a minimum of one year can reinforce that idea. The addition of a separate team that'll provide technical support for the engine itself can make their current deadline an easier target to reach. The amount of knowledge needed to make a game is rather large so a team that is focused on knowing the details that the developers won't know, for various reasons, is definitely beneficial.

I made a poll early in the campaign about monthly updates: bloodstainedfanforums.com/thread/272/poll-monthly-ks-updateAt this point, they already shown us Miriam in action, a boss fight, spells, various weapon animations, music, some of the stages, ... Anything more than this would fall into 'Spoilers' category. =) P.S. I voted 'prefer to know nothing until the game releases' in the above poll.

Hmm, it seems like Dico has put up a webpage with a message: bloodstained.dico4u.com/ (language selector at the top right, it defaulted to Japanese for me). What I find interesting is what is in the footer: Artplay, Dico, and Monobit, but no Inti Creates. I found the above page from a Japanese news article that the Bloodstained twitter linked: www.gamespark.jp/article/2016/11/24/70144.htmlFrom what google translate gives, it doesn't seem like Inti Creates is mentioned here either.

Still find it really concerning Never heard of neither of those two teams DICO and Monobit as for thing that matters to me the most, I will be looking at DICO They better don't start censoring the translations while localizing it to the global audience, they better don't Monobit is to help with the polishing and also clearing out bugs I think? since they are the technical team, I would assume that Monobit will be doing just that or more

The interview on glixel.com is a nice addition to the update as I am always very interested to read what IGA has to say.

Okay I re-read the whole thing, so DICO is in here not only because of the localization...DICO is here because they're handling the procedural aspect of the game, as Mana has cleared. Let me cite the IGN interview article again: bloodstainedfanforums.com/thread/1383/ign-article-10-delay-publisherConsidering IGA had already said the game is too big to be all-handcrafted, and Inti might be lack of experience with procedural generation tools that Unreal Engine provides, it's pretty clear why IGA bring DICO & Monobit in at this particular time. My wild guess is, BS is ready to get into the mass content production stage, which means the bone of the game is basically completed (like the whole visual style etc.), what we need is lots of flesh and blood to enrich the game, and Inti can't handle this kind of massive content creation due to their unfamiliarity with procedural generation tools, DICO could help IGA in this particular stage. ...And maybe that's why IGA said "DICO will be on the frontline for this stage of the main development. ", Artplay & Inti might work as a supervisor to confirm the content is fitted with the game.I really have no doubt that Inti is still invovled, Yuji Natsume is the one who provided the concept art after all.So based on my guess, everything laid out so far: Concept & Core development: Artplay & Inti CreatesMassive Content Production: DICONetwork & Online features, Debugging etc. : MonobitPublishing: 505 Games
Localization: Not decided yet. and I'd really like to hear opinion about this update from someone who is "inside the scene" dareka EDIT: I have to say the updates that we recently have are a little bit fuzzy. If you're chasing news or interviews of IGA and BS (and read the forum post regularly), it might clear things a little. You connect the dots, you get a big picture. The problem is, not every backer actually does that. If we only look at updates, we might ended up thinking the project is constantly changing things, they're changing timeline, they're finding new publisher, they're bringing in new devs without telling where the old one goes to... It's not until you read the IGN article, then start thinking "okay Inti is probably not capable of generating lots of game contents, so we might need new devs for that." That's... not a good sign of communication, from this point I totally understand why people is concerning about whether Inti is still involved. Things happen because there's a cause, the update (especially THIS one) only shows the consequence without giving the cause, and even the result is not clear enough. We should know DICO & Monobit's work from the update, not from Google. ...Maybe I'm just asking too much, idk.

Hi everyone. Checking in here to see the update reaction. I'm hoping we can squeeze another game content update but I can't guarantee it yet. I'll try to answer what I can as of now. Starting from Thomas's questions (I could only answer two for now). Thanks for the update thread btw! Why are they adding more development groups? We touched upon this lightly in our delay update - IGA mentions that he could not keep the quality of the E3 demo from the current development style. He goes into details in this IGN interview - "One of the issues is that their (Inti Creates) style of building on a game, while it does tend to come up with high quality when they spend the time on it, they don't necessarily have the true understanding of how to procedurally use the best tools in Unreal. ” This is the reason why we added new developers who are experienced with UE4. Check out the explanation I gave for how procedural generation is used for in Bloodstained here. What happened to Inti? They are still working with us, but their work will be reduced as they are not making the procedural aspects of the game. --- I think we have a bit of a confusion here. Although DICO is known for their localization and global development, that does not necessarily mean they will do so for Bloodstained. They will be in charge of the main development of the game but localization has not been decided yet. I also want to apologize for not posting as much as before due to so many internal changes in our development assessment (lot of translations!). That's why, announcing the new publisher and developers are really important to us even if they don't seem so from the backers' perspective. What this update really means is that we could start speeding our development, start implementing contents we really want to have in the game, and focus on delivering. I'll keep all of you posted when I could answer more questions. Also, we're confident that DICO and Monobit will deliver results that will validate their skills in the future.

Great post, Mana. I have a couple of other questions, I hope they're good ones but you're not obligated to answer, of course I'm wondering, can you explain a little more about why IGA selected these companies specifically? It might ease a lot of concern if us backers hear what, exactly, makes IGA confident in them--it's an honest question, since most folks haven't heard of either before. Was there a project they worked on they really aced, or do they have particularly strong resumes...something like that, just a bit of insight into the choice

Did I find this update a bit under-whelming? I'd be lying if I said no. Did it bring something I needed. In many ways, yes.
I'm glad that Iga addressed the question of who were the new players (but not replacing). And to tell us this quickly. But above that, I needed the cold shower of not having extra gameplay stuff. It reminded me that I was starting to get a bit spoiled with all the stuff we've been getting the past updates. Arigato Iga-sama (and team) and thanks Fangamers.

If I can be blunt about this Why pick a company that is specialized in localization, to do the actual main development of the game? that seems really weird to me, this is just me want some answer because I thought at first that DICO will be doing the localizations

This just raises more questions. Why are they adding more development groups? What happened to Inti? Why are we being kept in the dark about actual development progress? What is the status of the content contributors? What are the dev teams plans for the holidays? What is with all these silly questions, you should be taking this seriousl... Ok, now we're talking. If the new guys can answer this while doing a handstand on a speeding bike just before it does a jump through a burning ring of really hot fiery fire that is conveniently placed above a pool of sharks (equipped with lasers, of course), I'll be convinced that they are skilled enough to handle this job. I don't see how they could fail this task, though, as they are making a bodily investment of 200.6% (a number too precise to be a lie) and that is almost 300%, which constitutes as MAXIMUM EFFORT.

I mean this is going to be a big game. Knowing things is not the same as playing things and in the grand scheme of things we still know very little about the game (even though its admittedly still early) to say nothing of all the legit secrets they will pack into this game (weapons, items, bosses, enemies) that I can assure you won't show up in any update. For that reason it's hard to meaningfully spoil the game as long as you avoid talking about the ending(s) or any major plot twists. If you're worried about spoilers, the onus is on you to avoid the updates not for others to play footsie with those who might be hyper-sensitive to spoilers. It's totally cool if you want to do the whole media blackout thing but that's not necessarily an opinion shared by others and as a KS project its important for the developers to be more open and discuss/show more about the game than usual before release.

Honestly it's not like they have to spoil content at all. I've said this many times already but some of the meatiest, most interesting updates were from when the Kickstarter campaign was still raising money. There was multiple sections, developer quotes, things to read and usually a piece of concept art. You don't NEED to show bosses, you don't need to show off areas of the game, just talk about the game! Also, did anyone find it interesting and weird that IGA mentioned someone he worked with in the past who's an excellent programmer is on one of these teams but proceeded to not tell us who. I'm curious what they worked on together! Lol
