Aye, so it turns out the article that I found when I was avoiding doing all the homework I should be doing, doing my daily check of somethings wasn't lying. The little bit of gameplay I saw...pretty impressive. It is looking really good so I'm sure I'll be impressed by what it looks like when the came comes out.
Can't say I'm familiar with 505 Games or any of their work. The only ones I've even heard of were Naughty Bear and Rocket League. But, all power to them if they're publishing Bloodstained.
Whelp, time to get back into my three hour descent into the deepest pit of Gehenna, my homework.

Basically agree with Pure Miriam on everything. Didn't know how to feel about 505 Games, but if they don't have content control, then it makes sense to get a company to publish it. And the game looked beautiful.

It sounds to me like the only reason anyone out there doesn't like 505 is because the developer for Payday 2 blamed 505 for Micro Transactions (MTs).
No one has heard 505's side of that story from what I gather.
Even if it's true 505 was pushing for MTs in Payday 2, it is obvious to me by their reactions BEFORE they revoked the MTs that they also supported the decision to instate them. Everything after that was probably damage control in response to their community.
IGA responds to his community. MTs do not fit an IGAvania. Does anybody seriously think MTs will be a remote possibility in a Kickstarter game from IGA? This is not an issue to me, and to those who are concerned about that I hope my opinion alleviates some of that.
Professionals aren't often judged by their accomplishments they are judged by their failures. Didn't they man who invented the Game Boy also invent the Virtual Boy and lose his job because of it? It's all a matter of perspective. My perspective is focused on how impressive Bloodstained is turning out, and how thankful I am that IGA has the opportunity to make this game when so many people had turned him down.
Thank 505 for that.

Just saw the video on my Youtube Subscriptions.
I admit I know pretty much nothing about 505 Games. I visited their official website and didn't really see anything that bothered me, so I'm largely okay with this. At the very least, I can have faith in IGA's judgment regarding publishers. And having a publisher is obviously a good thing.
Just don't make us cry like anime fans on prom night with a 'Masterclass' trailer, mmkay?

Definitely not a fan of the portraits of backers being in the main entrance of the game. It breaks the fourth wall and usually they're very goofy out of place looking portraits. I kinda wish it was just a big room you found dedicated to it rather than an essential area Yes, but the backers shouldn't have to 'look' for their portrait. I think the placement is well thought out.

What I read is this: The failure of the VB spelled the end of his run at Nintendo. If he wanted to retire anyway, why did he form a new company and make a new handheld? Sorry, should have been more specific. This is the part I'm refering to: "Another of his creations, the Virtual Boy, was a commercial failure, but was not the reason for his subsequent departure from Nintendo. According to his colleague Yoshihiro Taki, "Yokoi had originally decided to retire at 50 to do as he pleased. His retirement had simply been a bit later than planned.""

Oh, this is great news! With 505 games on our side, we'll be getting some of the talent that helped make Indivisible a success. Seems like there's a great Indie Alliance these days

I think that I'm really lucky that I have upgraded my graphics card If I still stick with my GTX 770, I don't think I will be able to play this game when it's on the final stage we have seen that improvement on the graphic settings and the background quality GTX 770 will not be able to pull this game at 1080p 60fps

My only real knowledge about 505 Games is that Lab Zero has pretty much nothing but praise for them so that's good enough for me.
I'll echo what others have said in that the entrance footage is looking good AND that I dunno if that is the place where I would put the backer portraits (though I assume its for maximum exposure). I thought the Hall of Champions area that Shovel Knight had (see below) where all the backer portraits went was a good idea and I think it t would probably be better to replicate something like that here (say as a Treasure Room or the Library or wherever). Not to say what they have here can't work (and I'm assuming they will work hard to make sure the portraits fit in stylistically with the castle) just the placement wouldn't be my first choice.

This is honestly not a bash at the team I just think there's more aesthetically interesting ways to do backer portraits than just slapping them in the entrance hallway. Let me paint a cool picture.
You enter the catacombs, and there's coffins in the walls with the portraits of all the backers above each one. Zombies spawn in the room too. Aesthically you are making it work with the background and it doesn't take you out of the world. Whereas a bunch of random portraits in the entrance kinda does.

I don't think portraits take you away from the game at all, they have been in every castlevania before bloodstained, just mix them up between some other paintings in different places and it's good.

The castle is looking great, cant wait to see it full of monsters. I also think that the backer portraits could look better in different areas of the castle, even in secret places but in the end I dont mind if they stay at the hallway.

You don't typically see many portraits in general in igavanias especially not in ONE area bunched together like it seems to be here. My post shows that there's CREATIVE ways to artistically insert them in a way that benefits the games aesthetic and artistic value. IMO

Wait a minute...in the update before last, it was stated that they were securing a new "development team" and would be announcing more details soon. Did they instead mean a new publisher, 505, or is there still more coming on that? If this was about publishers all along, then that would answer some questions we had... From what I know, 505 games have also developed their own games So, maybe both "development team" and publishers are 505 games? Uhm, probably not IMO. I'd say 505 only handles the whole PUBLISHING process for BS. The dev team might still be in the "secure process" or IGA hasn't decided yet. BTW, anyone noticed Mana in the video?

Portraits shouldn't be right in the beginning unless they're are extremely well done and blend perfectly with the rest of the scenery. This is the key thing, and IMO, needs to be the case no matter where they show up in the game. It's a backer reward, sure, but it is also going to be a part of the game, and thus needs to match the rest of the game visually. I have no problem with the backer portraits being in the entrance personally, but I'm fairly certain that I would not be alone in being disappointed if the backer portraits just ended up being some photographs that were put through a Photoshop filter. They need to take whatever photos they receive and use them as a reference to create original painterly style portraits in setting-appropriate attire that won't be obvious backer content to the unaware, but will create a cool moment of recognition for anyone whose portrait is included. The last thing we want(and I'm sure that goes for people who are getting their portrait in the game as well) is a Pillars of Eternity situation where the backer content is obvious, incongruous, and drives people to actively mod it out.
