All right! That was fun. Though while I was going for a jog, the Mana episode came on next automatically and I got sucked into that again for 20 minutes lol...those interview skills were on point, Mike. You were asking the very things I had on my mind about ArtPlay and we got to meet the great "CM" we now know as Mana. Anyways, back to goobycast, surprised crocy didn't bite on this one, but the demo was indeed released with a stated playable time period of 3 months in update #40. Since it's attached to Steam, I think it may just deactivate. They may have decided to extend that since they sent out the demo again after some second chances, but there hasn't been a further word on that. If the 3 months holds, it would end this Thursday, 9/22...this came up recently in Community Discussion where I was talking with a member about his desire to get a code after the deadline. Anyway, that update: Update #40 (third paragraph under "Message From Iga") It does feel vague at this point in time, though, I kind of expect them to either extend this or release something else sooner than we expect. Maybe. The audio/radio show thing you guys talk about is definitely a thing they do in Japan, and they're known as drama CDs. They can be bonuses included with collector's versions or standalone products released similar to a game OST where it's just the actors going through a side story. I know about these things from the ones that have been done for fighting games, but just so happens not all that long ago, a story following SotN was done in just such a way by the Japanese actors. This started out as a Konami internet radio thing and then was released on CD in 2010. Information on that, and a full sub of one of the projects is on Youtube: castlevania.wikia.com/wiki/Akumaj%C5%8D_Dracula:_Radio_Chroniclecastlevania.wikia.com/wiki/Akumaj%C5%8D_Dracula_X:_Tsuioku_no_Yas%C5%8DkyokuNow, I just found out about this myself...and from my understanding, the Radio Chronicle and the sub above are two separate things actually, on two separate CD releases. This guy has more info, but doesn't seem impressed: www.vgmuseum.com/mrp/cv-sotn/radiodrama.htmI'm interested to look into that now. I'm not sure if IGA was directly involved, but I believe all of this would have been recorded around 2008, so it's a possibility? It would be cool if he actually wrote some of this. Lastly, well...eh, you know I'm not really feelin' the SCIV whip thing haha. It might be okay, but it would also be a really hard thing to balance against other weapon types... Thanks for another podcast!

Well, it's clear now that the demo was planned to only work for a limited time of about 3 months. Somehow that bit of info didn't seep into my long term memory when I read that update. If I would have understood this when Goob brought it up our conversation would have gone differently and have been more informative to the community. Good to know now, though. I guess I need to play it again! Maybe I'll try and back up the files.

Hm, I don't think it's a big deal. The absence of any warning/reminder about the closing day in updates since that one feels like they rescinded that idea. They also just gave out new codes to some folks during the TGS stream on Wednesday with no mention of that, it'd be kind of weird to give it to people without warning them "oh hey by the way, you only have a week to play this, so get on it!" haha
Of course, those running the stream might not have known anything about that. I mean, if we ourselves on the forum couldn't recall specifics, doubtful that twitch staff people would know unless specifically informed. I wish they had said "hey, you can still back this game". Every time someone asks about it/what it is, the response is like "it was a Kickstarter" with kind of a sense of finality and missed opportunity. Too bad I wasn't there live to spam igavania.com/back
edit: Oh hey, one more thing I forgot to mention and recalled it because I was just talking about him somewhere else, I'm pretty sure Juste is pronounced like "Joost", almost "juiced" lol. He's juicin' with Belmont heart power

Vampires everywhere would love the taste of Juste's juicy blood the most. ^ Maybe his blood literally tastes like fruit punch? Juste Belmont has the greatest talent for Magic among Belmonts. Maybe his veins flow with magic juices.

I think I heard the ustay type pronunciation from cecil-kain. Gebel was pronounced a couple of different ways in this episode if I remember correctly. Pronouncing proper nouns has always been both a pet peeve and problem for me. Refer to Final Fantasy for more controversial pronunciation examples.

Heh, I always called chocobos "coke-a-bos", like the H was silent. I'm not really sure why. Maybe because my brother said it that way? Who knows.
The Kickstarter page has Gebel's pronunciation as JEE-bill.

Heh, I always called chocobos "coke-a-bos", like the H was silent. I'm not really sure why. Maybe because my brother said it that way? Who knows. The Kickstarter page has Gebel's pronunciation as JEE-bill. I mispronounced and spelled chocobos "chobocobos" (or "cho-bo-co-bose") for years because that's how I first heard it pronounced in an old Newgrounds cartoon, and didn't realize it mispronounced them as a joke until I talked to my one other friend in high school who liked Final Fantasy. It was the first time chocobos ever came up in conversation between us, and after five minutes of talking about them he just broke down and said "Oh my God, why do you keep adding an extra "bo" in chocobo like that?!" I then went "...What do you mean?" "There's only one 'bo' in 'chocobo'!" "No there isn't. That's not how I heard it pronounced." "That's not how it's actually spelled either! Where did you hear it?!" "In a Final Fantasy flash cartoon parody on Newgrounds." "...It was probably saying it that way to be funny." "Why?" "...Because it's a flash cartoon on Newgrounds." "What do you- ...ohhhhhh." I still can't believe hearing a word pronounced a certain way made me overlook how it was actually spelled in the games. Similar situation with Bahamut; I thought it was pronounced "ba-ha mutt" because I saw it spelled "Bahamutt" in Super Mario RPG, but didn't realize it was a typo/mistranslation until I heard some other students in school talking about it. Then I tried asking them more about it because they were talking in public and, you know, it's normal for other people to join conversations if they have something to add, and I figured it'd be a good opportunity to make some friends because it was the 00's and it wasn't cool/marketable to be a nerd yet. They told me to go away because "Super Mario RPG isn't a real RPG!". Teenagers can be so bratty and mean. And stupid. With Gebel and Johannes, I'm pretty sure I'll get used to pronouncing them the proper way once more progress is made with Bloodstained and we hear people involved with the game saying the character names out loud more often.

Apparently, it is pronounced "Ba-hah-moot". A gigantic fish with the face of a hippopotamus, everybody! (But in dragon-form in Final Fantasy) Slightly back on-topic, only " real men" [with juice for blood] have great taste in furniture!

Must be...Baja moot :x
I also still say "Shy va" instead of "Sheeva" for Shiva. I think Ifrit can be pronounced a few different ways, but I always said it how it looks without any "e" sounds. Didn't give Ramuh any "ooo" sound, either. I may have said every single summon incorrectly.
edit: Oh, I didn't see Garamuth's post, yeah

Quezacotl comes to mind. I don't think I even spelt that right. I don't even know what the summons in XII and XIII are because I didn't play those games, haha...

Hey XombieMike! I love the hard work you put into this forums and the podcast but I have to nitpick something you said on this episode that was factually wrong. When talking about Iga's trip to Mexico you said you were happy he got to meet fans in "South America" when referring to my country. Like I said, its a tiny nitpick but it's a pet peeve of mine. Mexico is in North America (hint: think of NAFTA), not South America. You'd have to go all the way down to Ecuador and Colombia for it to be correct. For some reason I hear many Americans getting that wrong. If you want to refer to people south of the US border just say "Latin America" I didn't see Crocodile's post before mine. Should've known he'd be on top of things. And like he said, we noted that slip of the tongue in good faith.

Uggghhhh. I'm from Texas. I know what continent I live on and where Mexico is. It was a little slip of the moment. It's not the only slip I left in there, just the one people seem to be nitpicking me for.
Maybe I need an annotation in the YouTube version explaining I know basic geography.
Edit: Also, please don't edit out or delete that in your post. I think it's entertaining although embarrassing.

Not sure what you mean by it being "entertaining although embarrassing". And in this forum I think only Crocodile and me pointed out that nitpick. Its not worth getting upset about it. It's so minor yet inexplicably I've heard many make that mistake. It was just worth a mention, thats all.

I'm pretty sure I've made that same mistake. It's because of our culture that we tend to equate the US and "America" as the same thing, so subconsciously something south of us would be "south" America. Like, check this out:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/America_the_Beautiful
"One of the most popular of the many American patriotic songs". Then you have God Bless America, America this, America that...but these things are basically just United States things. Similarly, an "American" traveler is certainly perceived as someone from the USA...I'm not even aware of a better term for that. United Statesian? Hahaha...
For me, I know it's incorrect, but once in a while it might come out because of all of this.
So, it's just kind of confusing that our country didn't pick a better name to differentiate itself from other North American identities. You can be Canadian, Mexican, Native American and then...American-American? We don't mean to diminish or demean our neighbors or anyone else. Well, hopefully not most of us anyway ;p

A little late, but I finally managed to catch the episode! I really enjoyed it, Goobie was fun His commentary on stuff like quest options was also quite thoughtful, definitely cool stuff. I also agree with you guys, I know who the additional dev team is and what the plans for the Wii and Vita are asap!
