Also, check out Nuckelavee of Orcadian mythology. The descriptions vary, but I like this one: I've heard it described "A horse with a large gaping mouth, one single eye that burns with a red flame, fin like appendageson on his legs, and a human torso growing out of the horse's back, like a rider. It also had no skin, with black blood coursing through it's yellow veins." This one looks awesome.

The first one pictured here would make for a fun enemy. Jumping over it would be a bad idea, and it could cling to the ceiling and attack with the tongue/tentacle, or even use that to swing around.

It may be entirely possible that not all of these demons will be enemies. Zagan from the Ars Goetia apparently has the power to "make men witty; he can also turn wine into water, water into wine, and blood into wine (according to Pseudomonarchia Daemonum blood into oil, oil into blood, and a fool into a wise man). Other of his powers is that of turning metals into coins that are made with that metal (i.e., gold into a gold coin, copper into a copper coin, etc.)." I personally would like to see more unique characterizations of these demons than simple villains and monsters for you to vanquish. Here is a A list of 90 Demonic sigils in which you can see that not all are exemplified by their evil nature.

I would enjoy that highly! As a die-hard fan of Aria of Sorrow for the Gameboy Advanced I loved being able to summon those "Support" demons to repeatedly pummel my foes.

Here is a A list of 90 Demonic sigils in which you can see that not all are exemplified by their evil nature. That list is inaccurate. For starters, look at the seal for "GAMIGIN, The Horse Lord", and compare it to this: That's the seal for Glasya-Labolas, not Gamigin, Glasya Labolas is the lord of manslaughter and bloodshed, and incites others to homicide. He's listed as appearing as a dog with wings, not a horse. This seal belongs to Gamigin: Whoever originally created this image was either very misinformed, or rather mischevious (or malicious, depending on how you look at it). EDIT: I am in agreement with you that not all of them are described as being evil, though.

Ah, my apologies Dragon. I had no idea they were incorrect, as my knowledge of the Lesser Key is passing at best. I had no intention of disseminating false information. However as far as my hopeful hypothesis goes I would also love to see demons as their own characters, not just familiars. Being generally cunning spirits all, Demons might even be willing to establish themselves as vendors of weapons and items., in return for those components that were mentioned in the crafting system.

However as far as my hopeful hypothesis goes I would also love to see demons as their own characters, not just familiars. Being generally cunning spirits all, Demons might even be willing to establish themselves as vendors of weapons and items., in return for those components that were mentioned in the crafting system. It's fine. Plenty of spirits appear in multiple texts with variations on names, seals, offices, etc. That list is way, way, waaaaaaay off, though. Like, off to the point where people either didn't do any research, or they just took the Berbiguier route and made stuff up. A few examples: "Adnachiel, The Hunter Demon" isn't a demon at all, it's an angel. "Agiel, Lord of Calamity" is also an angel. You use its name as part of the 1st pentacle of Mercury to invoke spirits. "Ambriel, The Changer" is an angel. It's a prince of the order of thrones, and its name is used on charms to ward off evil. "Aratron, Demon of Sorrow" is an Olympian spirit known for alchemy, medicine, invisibility, and the ability to make barren women fertile again. You could arguably cause sorrows, especially when alchemy is concerned, but it's a far more benign spirit than, say, Draplos, an evil-natured deceiver. And so on, and so on... Some demons are portrayed as cunning, and some more as forces of nature limited to act only within their spheres, and approached only with divine protection or with tasks/requests/offerings that fall within those spheres. Ditto for some angels, as many are cut from the same cloth, at least according to lore. The lore, though, is long, rambling, often inconsistent, riddled with errors at times, and also, most importantly... fiction I'd love to see some demon NPCs as well. It's one of the reasons I enjoyed the Shin Megami Tensei games so much.

This guy showed up in one of the kickstarter updates and it hit me when they first announced it since he's named Astarot. Which my girlfriend just so happens to have his sigil tattooed on her shoulder, even if it's really Astaroth.

Yeah, there's several different spellings or even alternate names for most of these demons. It's not exactly what you would call an exact science.

My girlfriend is suddenly interested in the game since they are using demons of The Lesser Key of Solomon which she knows about.

We all know that the fans have spoken when it comes to Miriam's familiar--the 'cool' knight. I want to pose the question to everyone on their opinion of how likely it is we'll see 'knight' demons in the game? Zepar--one of the demons from the Lesser Key--is depicted as a solider wearing armor....could he perhaps provide a rival for Miriam's initial familiar?

She still has trouble with the platforming parts but has fun playing it regardless so that's cool. I'm interested in playing Bloodstained to see how name them and tell me the stories behind them lol.

but when you look at many of the 'demons' in those books, they draw a lot from the pagan religions before that, often twisting them to whatever end the author wants, was much more fun to be loved than feared >_>

Ah yes, Astaroth from Soul Calibur. If we get any demons that resemble him or Nightmare with the Soul Edge, I will be very, very happy. I love the art direction for the whole series.
