the sound effects on sotn are special to me. they had a lot more punch to them Completely agree, especially the fire sound effects, its one of the things that bummed me out post SOTN. The sound effects all sounded very uncool in comparison. We have Yamane to thank for the cool SOTN sound effects. They should just let her take a crack at it again.

to be fair, the ds as well as most headphones couldn't produce bass anyway. there may very well be bass ingame, but the speakers available were not suited to it.

To answer Galamoth in another thread, yeah I'm caught up here now haha. The last post I'd seen before was yours about the Salamander attack. That would have to be a pretty late game, high cost deal...but elemental spirits being tied to high level elemental weapons is a neat idea. Leviathan for water (maybe even Vepar)? Atlas/a titan for earth? And so on.
I agree on the sound effects being great in SotN. Marsil's and the "swish" of the Alucard Sword were a couple of favorites.

I know those of you that have played SotN, have gotten the Heaven Sword... I want more of these types of weapons in the game, when you have one, instead of swinging it you throw it and it comes back to you... the best part was when you equipped two of them and pressed the two attack buttons at the same time you get this awesome attack... I'm not good at explaining stuff so I will leave a video of it here. Now who doesn't think this is awesome

I would love a throwable sword that woks like the boomerang in Bloodlines. It returns to you but in an arc above you. It's damage could be quite a bit higher than other swords but the "catch" is that you have to catch it on its way back or the punishment is you having to go back to the menu to equip it.

I wouldn't mind seeing stuff like the Claw weapons from Curse of Darkness return. Though admittedly I don't find this likely, given that Miriam favors kicks when she doesn't have a weapon and we already have boots that more or less are her version of "buff the hand-to-hand". So maybe seeing more Boots that give her more elaborate kicks would be a nice nod. Attachments:

I wonder if the weapon categories in the demo are final. I hope axes find a place in Bloodstained. I find it a little strange that there is no axe category, given that they've been well-represented in previous Igavanias, particularly CoD and DoS. In general, I'd like to see a variety of long-handled weapons. Axes, scythes, hammers, or a nagamaki! I like somewhat slower weapons, because they make the game more about spacing and pacing than just jamming on the attack button. I'm not that fond of whips (blasphemy, I know!), but you can put pretty much anything on a long chain and I'll probably fall in love with it. Like the kusarigama posted upthread, or a chain mace, or a giant shuriken: One of my favorite glyphs in OoE was Lapiste, the giant stone fist: So I'd love to see something similar, maybe a gigantic gauntlet weapon like the one crocodile posted in the Transformation Shards thread: This is a total joke/gag weapon but it wouldn't be the first time something like this was done (Alucart Sword) Ladies, Gentlemen and everything else, I humbly suggest A PILLOW WEAPON! It could even be hard-coded so that it only does 1 damage (even with crits). Maybe pave the way for a 1 damage challenge. Why a pillow? We need more weaponized pillows in video games. That's why. I'm reminded of the Terror Bear from DoS. Igavanias have had some pretty fun joke weapons in the past, I hope that tradition continues!

Torabi I'm sure that the weapon categories in the Demo aren't final. They do have concept art on this game's Kickstarter page showing Miriam holding a large hammer/axe(?) weapon that looks like it's coated with ice.

There is one quality I'm interested in regarding Heavy Weapons like Greatswords, Battle Axes and Warhammers: and that's impact. In the 2D games of the past I always felt like Soma/Jonathan/Whoever swinging big weapons didnt have an impact. The weapon just swung slower and did more damage.
So what am I looking for to improve this feeling? I'll use an example:
One of my favorite moves of the Greatax weapons in Curse of Darkness was a move where Hector would scrape the weapon across the ground and hurl debris at his target, or the greatswords, where he would spin and slam the ground: sending up clouds of dust and rubble. Later entries in the Dark Souls franchise also took this approach and I loved it.
I would love it if, when Miriam swung a big weapon, there would be an actual impact with the ground and some visual effects, maybe have enemies go flying when she deals the deathblow. I want the big weapons to have more of an impact besides swing speed and the numbers on the screen. I want to FEEL like I'm crushing something with a giant Zweihander.

Not an ancient or weapon from history/myths but...... I sort of want Alucard's Sword from the Trailer to the game that never got released.
But that would be copyright infringement.....So adapt it to this.... instead of the Bloody sword, a sword of stained glass.

While it may not be final, it would seem that we won't be getting any "Fist-type" weapons (gauntlets) in Bloodstained so far. Just judging from Miriam's base kicking attack without any weapons equipped, it looks like there'll be exclusively shoes and boots designed for combat as her "unarmed" weapons. ^ I wonder if these kicking 'weapons' will have special/critical attacks with specific command-inputs. I'd love to see Miriam doing Taekwondo or Muay Thai kicking moves, personally.

Somacula Bows...I don't know. Projectile weapons, to be "free" use or unlimited (i.e. not a subweapon), would have to have some kind of drawback (lol drawback, bow, get it?). It would likely end up being really good or pretty bad...like how Soma's gun had to be not particularly strong, for example. *cut* What might be kind of interesting is if there is just one bow, magic or relic type item that allows the firing of arrows, but the arrows themselves differ and have to be crafted via the crafting systems for use. Since we're crafting things anyway and arrows are obviously finite ammo usually, it could be interesting to focus your gameplay on the forging of element-specific/monster weakness arrows. This could be similar in aspects to things I've suggested before where you have to decide between a few different things for the precious resources you've gathered - do you make better armor, a new melee weapon or put together monster-weakness arrows or standard arrows otherwise for monsters you're having trouble with and want to stay away from? It could be an interesting dynamic. I was searching for an old post of mine and came upon this back in January, lol. It sounds like what they ended up doing with gun ammo! I hadn't considered firearms at all back then.

By "unique", you must be talking about weapons that would be outside of the established categories/types. I remember suggesting a double-scythe quite a while back.
