As you already know from my username, I'm legally blind, so accessibility is really important to me. If a game moves too quickly or lacks contrast in the graphics, it's almost completely unplayable. Fore example, I had a blast with Order of Ecclesia up until I got to the skeleton boss in the prison area. I could see my character just fine throughout the rest of the game, but with that boss, the game puts a spotlight on Shanoa that also affects the contrast level around her. This made it so I couldn't tell where Shanoa was exactly, which proved disastrous for my attempts to beat the boss. I had to cheat to beat him, but the cheats ended up corrupting my save, so I had to start all over again. Please put in some kind of feature to make Miriam more visible in areas with low contrast. Those areas are great for atmosphere, but terrible for accessibility.

I'm legally blind myself, though just barely. I usually only have issue with text size. Dead Rising for example was pretty much unplayable. Circle of the Moon was tough on original hardware just because it was dark on top of having to hold it pretty close, but I think others had that problem too.
Aesthetically, large text can look bad/clunky, but can also be tasteful in a clean, simple way. The Igavania games more or less were usually fine for me. Since this will be played on an actual television, I think I'll be set.

Small text size is a really common complaint in games, you certainly aren't alone. If you're designing for TV, even to cater for 20/20 vision you still shouldn't have any text below 28px at 1080p.

I never considered this as a thread idea but I highly approve. If time permits, the developers could incorporate a feature that gives item drops a colored aura and then allow the player to toggle between color sets for different forms of color blindness. Also appropriate text size is a must. Some good games can become nearly impossible to enjoy because the text requires the player to strain their eyes.

While I'm not visualy impaired in any way I support this 1000% as i play most of the games that allow for it with color blind setting on so the colors are not jarring. For examples off this World of Tanks swaps enemys from red to this unusual blueish purple color. Battlefield 4 has three separate settings for different types of colorblindness etc:.
These settings while not super important to the masses really help players like the OP and even myself who prefer more subdued colors or contrasts on the game or the HUD. Any work put forward to this end would be greatly appreciated.

ue4 suppposedly has a built in colorblind simulator, so there is that, but i think good contrast and recognisable patterns or motion can be more effective here than messing with the color palette since this isnt a team based game where shades of a jersey/car/armor/arrow are set and players will supposedly have control over miriams colors anyway

While I'm not legally blind (yet), I do have incredibly bad vision. The text sizes of SOTN's menu's I was personally able to see reasonably on a 19" CRT TV at a distance of 4'. But my peripheral vision is a bit off, so when text for items and enemies appeared to the bottom left I sometimes didn't look until it was already on the verge of disappearing. I would suggest maybe a two or three second extension in that regard. It may seem like an odd thing, but in the end it'd likely be useful to the visually impaired and everyone else. Or perhaps an option to customize that delay? That could be perfect.
