There's the Junction system which made leveling quite literally a non-factor in FFVIII, especially if you played the card game for a while. And the card game is quite fun, so I don't see why you wouldn't. You could deck your character out in 99 of some magic and have godly stats from the first disc, and you can get the Lionheart, Squall's ultimate weapon, by the second disc. I love FF...started with the 1st NES title and own or played most of the titles except those side games like Chocobo Racing, Crystal Bearers..etc. I read online that the leveling system was a bit off in FFVIII making it so you could pretty much annihilate the bosses with low levels. My comments have nothing to do with this topic so I'm done now. Oh, I was just replying to the other person in the quote, it wasn't really aimed at you. I've played most of the main FF games except for 2, 3, 11, and 14.

Awesome, another fan of FF VIII! I thought that I was the only one...I bought it in 2009. I should probably finish it or start over. There's the Junction system which made leveling quite literally a non-factor in FFVIII, especially if you played the card game for a while. And the card game is quite fun, so I don't see why you wouldn't. I'm glad that you know about those methods too. Yes, that can be considered a way to defeat the purpose of Leveling. Personally, I didn't mind the fact that you could beat the game relatively-easily regardless of Level. I played Triple Triad (the card-game) in FFVIII a lot, and experimented with Junctioning GFs (helping them learn abilities, and seeing which characters are better off with certain GFs). It's also best to obtain the Lionheart by the game's 2nd disc, because it gives you access to every single one of Squall's "Renzokuken" Limit Breaks. (Addendum): Did you ever notice that Squall's "Accuracy" stat is 255 right from the start? (In other words, even if he's hit with the "Blind" status-ailment, he never misses when attacking) Anyway, back on-topic, I think I'd actually like it if there was a way to manipulate enemy levels in Bloodstained (all to affect drop rates and EXP gain, if not other things). The enemy/weapon/item that may give you such an ability certainly doesn't have to be a direct reference to the Tonberry.

Re: skill trees in Metroidvania games, Valdis Story is one example. It was a pretty good game, too, but I could take or leave that system being there. Iga may feel the same about this as he does for "combos", meaning it may not fit his style of game. In the past, your weapon choice and Soul/magic/glyph etc was essentially your "skill tree" and how you customized your character. I like how it's always been done, no need to complicate it too much.

Didn't seem to help him in one of the cinematics during the game I remember him missing Seifer a few times.

Didn't seem to help him in one of the cinematics during the game I remember him missing Seifer a few times. Seifer was wearing special Plot-Armor at that time. lol. It may not be an element of RPGs, but I'm sure you won't be able to defeat/kill certain characters with your amazing stats right away in Bloodstained. ^ That reminds me...I'm also going to try a Low-Level challenge in Bloodstained when I get the opportunity! (EDIT): At the same time, I don't think there will be any " scripted" fights in Bloodstained, like the Final Fantasy series is somewhat infamous for.

I hope low level challenges are easier to have fun wirh by allowing the player to confirm or "spend" levelups instead of being automagical

I dont like the idea of level up the armor, I like to level up the character as always. I think that the enemies of the area should not give you enough experiencie to beat the boss if you are grinding. Anyway I think Orden of Ecclesia is pretty well balanced so I have no problem with the latest leveling systems.
