like ive said before, IF the nx is supposedly as easy to port to as rumors say, go ahead and make an nx version alongside wiiu because it makes good sense, if it ends up being as hard to port as wiiu will be (meaning they have to offload the port to someone like armature to prevent it from bogging down core development) then id say ask us, show the pros and cons and let the backers talk with iga and come to a decision, id be slightly sad if the wiiu version went away because i wanted to see what interesting things could be done with it, but an nx version i would buy in a heartbeat because it sounds awesome
i get the dilemma igas in and theres no truly clean answer here, he either stays with wiiu and potentially misses out on more people playing his game, he goes with nx and potentially loses out on the good faith of some backers, or he goes with both and potentially has higher dev costs which means less profit that can go toward the team and into making the next game
as for the vita i seriously doubt anything will happen to it because its already budgeted for, and honestly if the tweaking of ue4 to the wiiu/vita overlaps i seriously doubt the wiiu version will disappear either, if so then its a matter of how much extra will it cost to port to nx and is the risk/reward worth it?

Yeah, I guess it comes down to what was promised in the Kickstarter. Wii U and Vita were stretch goals, NX was not. It should be more about whether or not to add an NX option and less about dropping Wii U.

Expect either a NX version OR a Wii U version, but NOT both.
I'm sure IGA will stick to the stretch goal if backers really want that, but I assume everyone would rather have a NX version and I'm also sure IGA would do that if that's what the backers would want instead.
Printing both will not be an option. There are minimum print requirements and they would have to sell well enough on both systems to justify both. That's not going to happen. After the NX comes out, sales will certainly go from Wii U games to NX games. There are licenses and SKUs and store shelf space and whatever other factors that would make it either a NX or Wii U only decision and not both.

It seems logical to me to offer the Wii U Backers an alternative perhaps exchange for Steam Key or GOG version, maybe offer NX port as an alternative because by the time 2018 rolls around the Wii U will be long dead. As a result any Wii U copies of Bloodstained that get produced will not sell because no-one will be buying games for that system then. It seems a waste of IGA's efforts to port a game to a dead system but i understand that promises have been made so perhaps by way of apology Wii U backers could get a little something extra as well as an alternative of their choice - maybe some exclusive Bloodstained merch or something, a cool t-shirt always goes down well and might soften the blow a little bit.

hey you think perhaps to fix the limited printing issue by having the Wii U version of Bloodstained be digital download? that way they can still do the physical and digital copies for the NX, while making it so wiiu owners can still get bloodstained via digital download. Would that cost less to do than try to do both physically?
Sure Wii U's liekly wont be selling anymore, but I doubt it'll be dead. the PS4 has been out for how many years now? Developers are still making PS3 games here and there. Just because the NX is going to be out doesn't mean everyone's going to have the time, or money, to just run out and buy an NX while abandoning the Wii U. Gamers don't just abandon an older console generation soon as a new one is out, its a gradual process of using both t ill the newer generation has more games that causes players to go to that one more often.

Businesses look more towards financial gains from were customers are going, not past and the Wii U has never been a financial success and that will get worse, not better in 2018. Ps4/Ps4 pro and Xbone /Scorpio is where the money will be at with PC at the side.

Because if there's either an option to play Wii U games on NX or for backers to change their Wii U copies to Xbone/PS4/NX/PC copies, affording a copy Bloodstained by itself probably shouldn't be a issue. |

From what I've gathered from it, IGA will definitely take it up with the backers before making a final decision, so that makes me feel a bit better about the whole ordeal I suppose. It just sucks for those who were dead set on the Wii U port, if the NX takes new precedence. :( |

I think that IGA wouldn't do that to those backers if they really felt that way. I'm sure they would speak up. It would take a few more backers than a handful feeling like that though. I'm just speculating, but it just makes sense.

If not, you'll just get a refund. Hell, even if that didn't happen, you could always sell your backer copy and get a retail version when it is released. For me, the main problem actually is that we dont know what NX is! It might not be a worthy successor to Wii U. What if it more a mobile device with touch control and augmented reality? I am sure I dont want to play Bloodstained on that. If NX is a console with more power than Wii U, and if it features normal controllers like previous Nintendo consoles, I would probably buy it at some point, to play Bloodstained and some other nice game from Nintendo. Until I dont know what NX is, I want the promised Wii U port. I think the Wii U port would be very special, with the unique features on the Wii U gamepad. Even if I had other consoles, I would want to play it on Wii U. Now, lets wait and see what NX is and what the community wants then. I think they will be a questionnaire for the backers to help make a decision.

No. We don't know if IGA has a DevKit. We don't even know that the NX is. EDIT: I just read the first post in this thread again. Wow did Nintendo miss out on a great E3 opportunity with the NX. They didn't fuel the hype train at all for it. That's literally been Nintendo's shortfall for a lot of their consoles. Not only do they fail to raise hype for their consoles, but they had next to nothing for 3rd party support with their games.
