Well buddy I have something to show you...Games Done Quick is a semi-annually speedrun marathon that raises money for the Prevent Cancer Foundation and Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières. The links go to their "About us" pages if you want more info on what GDQ supports. These marathons are sponsored by both Speed Demos Archive and Speed Runs Live (Places to sign up and officially speedrun). During one of GDQ's marathons, Awesome Games Done Quick or Summer Games Done Quick, a large variety of people come and show their skills on many different games and complete them as fast as they can. GDQ marathons also support people who want to get involved with speedrunning. It's a fun hobby (take it from me, the only minor speedrunner on this board at the time).
Do you want to see your favorite games like Mario, Metroid, Castlevania, Kingdom Hearts, Sonic, and many more get destroyed in terms of speed? This is the marathon for you.
If you aren't sure on donating, don't worry, during each marathon, they raffle off community made prizes and or real deals during specific parts of the marathon.
And if you sure you don't want to donate for the prizes, there are still possibilities. You can still give money by buying some official merch from The Yetee or one of their other partners, Humble Bundle.
AND if you don't want to donate at all (Which is fine. Won't judge you) you can still help promote the events (Seriously, these events do reach the top of Twitch with the most viewers).

Love GDQ. I've been watching marathons since...the first one I believe, in 2010. I remember I donated to have them name Shadow "Obama" in FFVI looooooool
It was close between that and Flonne, and I believe it was Mike Uyama iirc that reached in his pocket and threw some spare bills/coins on to the table to break the tie, saying "here's some change you can believe in!" Too good. It was quite a bit smaller back then. It's just awesome how successful they've been with this.
Nice lineup again this time. Closing with FFIV, too, nice.

Lol, my bf got me hooked on it last year, i really wish theyd fix their audio and boost it before they upload, cause a lot of their youtube vids are the quietest vids ive ever seen, and i can get grumps playing so loud i can hear it across the house

Looks like the Castlevania block starts on the morning of the 7th of January...
There's some great games in there. Ending with FFIV without the 64 floor glitch... nice!

Horraay for the marathon starting strong. I, unfortunately cannot watch and participate until later. The internet at my folks' house is rather terrible. So I cannot watch the first few days until we get our new provider this tuesday. Maybe then I can watch.
Only sad thing is, GVirus is running Axiom Verge (I know the guy) and I won't be able to catch him.)

They're super quick with the youtube uploads this time around, I've seen. Yesterday's runs were going up shortly after they aired.
I guess I'll donate during FF4...since I'll either be sleeping or at work for everthing else I'm interested in lol. I could potentially manage 2 AM, but that's cutting it close haha

It's always amazing watching them blast through crazy difficult games.
They just cleared Sephiroth in Kingdom hearts 1.5 (KH1), at level 1.

Ridiculous amounts of practice, man...like two guys one controller Dark Souls 2, blindfolded Punch-Out, and well...the Tetris blocks they usually do. That's not on the schedule this time, is it? Not sure how they could top the last couple of times anyway, though.

So far the funnest ones to watch were probably the Super Mario 64 race, and the 2 players 1 controller Super Metroid run. They just did Ninja Gaiden 3 without killing anything other than bosses which was interesting. They also did a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles speed run... which I'm sure many of us have played and plenty of us never got past the stupid dam.
I haven't been able to catch as much as I like. I'm sure the Metroid Fusion run must have been great, but I plan on looking back on the Metroid Prime run for kicks.

They just did Castlevania with no sub weapons and it's as tough as it sounds, but the runner made it look like his plaything, mostly...
Also anyone should check out the Super Mario Maker run as it was very entertaining.

I watched the Vendetta run this morning. It stars NOT Hulk Hogan and NOT Van Damme and NOT Mr. T going through NOT Final Fight with guns. It was awesome and looked like a quarter stealer.
I also watched Dungeons and Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara. He did a Blue Cleric run with the amazing earth shattering spell that won him the run!! Sticks to Snakes!!!!!
It looked tough as nails and he had to heal frequently. It's a funny coincidence though. One my favorite youtubers, Projared, was doing a DnDcemember which is all about DnD(of course) and he reviewed those two arcade games. Then this game got a run in January.
There was the Hat in Time run. I was surprised that this game even got one since it's STILL in development. It was fantastic though.
There was Mega Man Zero, or as I like to call it the bane of my existence. That run was fun and kind of scary because of the spikes.
I watched bits of the kingdom hearts one. I then found out that some worlds are skippable in that game. Something I never knew.
My favorite run so far is Hotline Miami. The dudes who were running it were hilarious.
Can't wait to watch the Metroid runs.

I really want to watch those NES games sometime this weekend...either in twitch archive or hopefully youtube archives. Hard to beat running those games to me. And of course Castlevania.
I saw the Mario Maker stuff too lol, very impressive how they went into that blind and had to form strategies as they went.
