I guess this thread is another I jumped late into, so I won't be able to comment on what was already written in it.
Do have this instead: (a full playlist of an orchestral remake of Link's Awakening's tracks, fan-made... Needless it's one of my favorite entries of the series ever. So much mystery, poetry and all)
Someday, I will talk about my history of Zelda gaming, which withered with the later years, as I was not addicted to Nintendo games anymore (esp' because they're system-exclusives). The attachment to it is real though, like for some other major franchises of the '80s and '90...
To be continued...

A couple interesting videos I found, starting with an orchestral cover:
For those who are more concerned with the voice-acting in Breath of the Wild, I found a voice-acting comparison video:
Anyone else up for continuing speculation on which timeline branch that Breath of the Wild will be set in, before the game comes out in March alongside the Switch?
Personally, I am still convinced that this is set in the Fallen Hero Timeline, especially because of the nuances (and dialogue) in the most recent trailer.

Nintendo can't resist the DLC craze eh... They truly have changed. I can't have nostalgia for them, though.

well, unlike most dlc like ea/ubi cutting half the game and selling it back a few weeks after launch as dlc or re5 selling you a multiplayer mode as dlc THATS ON THE FUCKING DISK!..., this feels like content that probably never got further than "hey wouldnt it be cool if we did X? yeah but lets file that under to be used later" and under normal circumstances would go into the next game, and remember they waited until a bit after the game had gone gold to even announce it (that means the game is done, off to print, and now the dev team either gets downsized, parted off into new projects, or continues work on a day one patch or dlc)
this is dlc done very well, they give you a little bonus thank you at launch (a shirt, a couple chests with a few items) and then they are releasing content 5-10 MONTHS down the line (which smartly falls in line fairly well with the 'summer drought' and the holiday season) whichll renew peoples interest in the game and give them more stuff to do after theyve likely played through a large portion of the game, as well as help bring in more sales during those periods i mentioned
the extra upside to this is theres also still a handheld team that could be working on another zelda, so we may be seeing an approach that can keep the quality of zelda at its high level and not have massive gaps between titles without putting too much stress on the dev teams and aonuma, you have a major release every few years thats a big 3d title, with little bits of dlc scattered about the year after release while aonuma and the head team begin the planning and the dev team stays to work on fun dlc before beginning production on the next big game, meanwhile the handheld team can be working on 1-2 games that come out in that gap similar to how link between worlds and triforce heroes came out between skyward and botw
so im excited for this, theyre using it as an extension of a great game as opposed to a cheap way to milk a few extra bucks out of you, and if it catches on we may see dlc coming back to being a good thing again

I got an email from the store that my switch and Zelda: BotW is going to arrive to me at Tuesday next week. Sometimes I just hate living in North-Norway, mail and packages takes so long to get here. But the reviews does look quite promising for a Zelda game. Lets hope that those scores are legit and not just because they got an early copy of the game.

Things be looking good so far. I'm now about to see for myself on why the game reviewers are going nuts over this game.
Got some shopping done, mostly for drinks... check.
Got my replacement bank card... check.
Got my pre-ordered Breath of the Wild from Gamestop... check.
My Wii U is currently installing it, and is just about time. I'm now ready. Ready to hear what happened 100 years ago. *Somehow turns on Breath of the Wild in an epic fashion*

this... this sums up my thoughts on botw beautifully I know some people are going to jump on the fact that the Link presenting the Master Sword in this image is one of those from the Fallen Hero Timeline. While I'm also convinced that Breath of the Wild is set in that specific Timeline branch, judging from all the nuances... there's been way too much commotion and argument online between obsessed fans about this. I'm just going to stay out of it until our dear Eiji Aonuma decides to clear it all up for the fans.

personally I am thinking that the only reason theyre using that Link because its literally the first ever link giving the sword to the newest Link. Remember how in Twilight Princess HD the developers put those three drawings on the stone walls of the walk way leading from the village, to the castle, depicting Link, a man, and a woman interacting with Gorons, Zoras, and bird people? The developers said that this drawing was meant to connect Twilight Princess to BoTW. So if anything I'm sure the game is part of the Child Timeline, set maybe some time before, or after, TP. If not that, then part of the Unified Timeline some how.

It's definitely set after Ocarina of Time, so it can't be the Unified Timeline...

So definitely the child timeline then, BoTW and TP wouldn't be be able to be connected if it wasnt in that timeline.

zelda 1 will always be my favorite, very few games can live up to both the initial memories of being tossed into a world with only a map and instruction booklet where i could go anywhere, and the fact that i can still pick it up and play it today and decide "think im gonna go get the wand and book early" and do that with maybe only a stopover to get the raft and ladder (and especially now that theres randomizers out for it that remove my knowledge of the games layout and force me to explore anew)
the original zelda handing its spirit to the newest game in almost a literal "its dangerous to go alone, take this" fashion with the new one having all the experience and legacy of all the previous games, what worked and what didnt, what other successful games have done right, and taking that into a new era, im glad ive been able to see zelda through all its incarnations and im hoping for many more great memories to come

Personally open world games have always made me super anxious, not knowing what im supposed to do, or what direction im supposed to go, ontop of the fact you can go 'anywhere' just weighs me down with uncertainty. Its the main reason Ive always avoided open world games. However being an avid Zelda fan I am still getting BoTW because it might be able to alleviate my issues with open world games. So far my only worry with BoTW is the fact that the games soundtrack was recently leaked, and its extremely underwhelming. Apparently they got a new composer for this game and it really shows, and in a bad way. Combined with the fact that there is no Overworld Theme that plays in the field like traditional Zelda games, its mostly quiet ambient noises, makes me even more anxious so I'm hoping there will be a music volume that lets me adjust this. I play games to have fun, and quiet games are not fun for me.
