I think about this entirely too much, probably. Cool thing is, though, a console Igavania game was previously one of these, so why not keep dreaming? Right? Here's my 10 of my nostalgia-flavored, fanboy-biased dream games in...not really any kind of order, except the last one. Mega Man X9: I love Mega Man, but the X series were my favorites. Inti Creates' Mega Man Zero/ZX games were great, as well, but another game in this style would be amazing. What I would specifically be most excited for is something similar to how Mega Man 9 was a callback to the earlier 8-bit games--x9 would have the 16- (or 32-) bit graphics of that era. If successful, an X10 (XX?) could follow, just as with Mega Man 10. It would rock so hard...man! It's great how franchises lately have revisited the NES era, but many of the games closest to my heart were in this mid-90s phase. A console Breath of Fire RPG: Also on the Capcom front, this wouldn't necessarily have to be 2D/isonmetric. See this series brought up in the chat recently reminded me of how great of a game BoF3 was. The dragon gene transformations, the cool characters, just the fishing mini-game was great! This franchise is yet another game that has fallen in the mobile, JP only abyss. There must be some reason Capcom would opt to make things like Dragon's Dogma and Deep Down isntead of reviving this, but I have no idea what it would be. Lufia 3: A real sequel to the Lufia games. I really, really like Rise of the Sinistrals. The DS, um...Kingdom Hearts-y remake was...something?, but the drastic changes to everything made me a bit sad. The series has had much more offshoots and gaiden games with no actual new entry, and I think one is due. This was basically Wild Arms without the guns, plus raising monsters and a better Mystic Quest-style battle sytem. New Melty Blood: Now, this may actually happen. Maybe? If it were only just MBAACC on PSN, that would be amazing. This anime fighter in my mind is basically tied with Guilty Gear for being the best. I -could- settle with Riesbyfe being put in Under Night, but I don't think that's going to happen, either. My main reason for distaste towards Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax is that...it's not resources spent on Melty or UNIB. I would have to think it's something for them to make money on to fund their former games, but...we'll see. Capcom vs SNK 3: Hahaha. Self-explanatory and ridiculous. Poor SNK, KOF XIV looks to be...not so hot so far. I would have really, really been on board for re-use of XIII's...everything, but I guess 3D is after all the most efficient way to go. I like these two fighting game companies' games almost equally, so this would be great, but...Capcom would be pulling all of the weight, and there's no way it would be anything 2D. I guess we'll be looking at different crossovers in the future, sadly... A console FF6 remake: Now, this is...possible? Inevitable? I don't know. It's actually very strange to me how FF4 has gotten a LOT of attention in the last several years while this game, arguably still thought as the best by the majority of long-time fans, has absolutely nothing going on. I never could have imagined that just a few years ago. FF4, I actually consider a personal favorite, though I objectively see FF6 as the best game and also a favorite. Do you all feel the same way? There's a potential gold mine here. Unfortunately, I imagine it would be in line for the chibi 3DS style remake that the other early games received, and likely only after FF5. I do think that the the grand scale of this game 100% deserves a console remake, however. I wouldn't even be mad about 3D, lol. Valkyrie Profile 3: It doesn't have to be just like 1, or 2, but please...make it happen! Exist Archive becoming a thing makes me think that SE/tri-Ace couldn't/didn't want to get this going for one reason or another, but dammit, VP1 is one of my favorites of all time (obviously, see user name). Modern console Tenchu: I don't really know why this series went downhill with weird offshoot games, versus puzle game on Xbox Live (  ), etc, but man...a PS4 era game with Rikimaru and Ayame sneaking around would be pretty great. I don't know where the license/franchise lies right now, but From Software has had amazing success lately with the Souls games and could make this happen with a separate team. I love quoting the old games, and they had a unique feel to them. And now, everything past this will be Castlevania lol More titles like The Adventure ReBirth: Kind of in line with the X9 pitch, re-doing 'vania games like this, or even in Dracula X Chronicles style for that matter, is just an awesome way to go for the franchise imo. Sure, new "modern" 3D console games are the most obvious route, but I don't really know how they could well execute that at this point. Instead, what if Dracula's Curse enjoyed a Rebirth or X Chronicles style remake? MMMM I JUST THOUGHT ABOUT REACHING FOR MY WALLET AND FINALLY
A Castlevania fighting game: Don't say it, I know what you're thinking. Okay, now that we're past that, yes--perhaps Arc System Works could get a hold of it. Another old dream idea of mine was a Darkstalkers crossover (think about that for a minute). BUT, on my computer at home, I have a huge OneNote document of system and character ideas for this, a 2(.5 likely) game with subweapon/magic choices that affect how the character is played. This came about during an 11-month layoff period I was in, haha =/ And that's about it for now. What about you guys? Doesn't have to be 10, or 5, just whatever you want, but...can't see happening as things are. |

Telltale Games presents: Nickelodeon's Avatar
I can't see it happening since Nickelodeon is done with the series due to demographic/money issues and it's not a currently ongoing/popular license like Walking Dead, Minecraft: Story Mode, Game of Thrones, Tales from the Borderlands, or Strong Bad's Cool Game 4 Attractive People were when they were made. It'd be 5 episodes long, each episode would be its own 2-hr stand-alone story about a different Avatar, and be in succession with the re-incarnation cycle from the show starting with Kuruk (tell the full story about his encounter with Koh!), then Kyoshi, Roku, Aang (adult version), and end with Korra.

Yes for Lufia 3. It's maddening every time I boot up lufia 2 and they have that leader-sinistral looking all important and stuff at the intro, and he never shows up again in the whole game, never showed up in lufia 1, and they never made a lufia 3... what the carp?! And holy crap was that action-spinoff an insult, it completely chopped off like 9/10ths of the story, AND the battle system was utter garbage compared to zelda, ys, 3d castlevanias, etc...the graphics weren't even good for a handheld either, not that I normally care about them but when it did everything else wrong too, you'd think they'd get that right at least, but not hey didn't.
Final fantasy 4 remake is a think... FF4 is actually my personal fave, but I never really played any of the remakes other than the GBA one which is pretty much like the original only with that bonus post-game dungeon. I hear the newer remakes are better/harder. but that bobble-head doll artstyle causes a gag reflex.
Anyway..
Xenosaga remake, featuring all 5 or 6 episodes, I forget how many there was supposed to be... remake as in not just newer graphics and sound, but remake as in they don't speed up-shortcut the story cuz they decided to nerf the series into 3 episodes... I bet your %@@#% a kos-mos-protagonist ninja-gaiden/DMC style game spinoff with armored core like customization would sell like hotcakes too.
Seiken densetsu 4/5... I say 4/5 because legend of mana is KINDA faithful enough to count as a 4.. it's a good game, but after that it all went to hell.. so if you count it 5.. but if you don't 4... but yeah, something more like Seiken densetsu 3/4... preferably with deeper combat though, when you get down to the combat in 3 it's actually a lie, most, if not all the bosses spam attacks you don't dodge or avoid or anything, they just hit the whole screen or home into you, and they don't dodge your attacks really, so you may as well just facetank them to death except their most basic attacks which consist of just swinging their shortest arm or tooth or something if you're standing in front.
I also agree with valkyrie profile 3 but that gameboy advance one is actually a pretty faithful 3...but when I want a 3, I actually want it to be like 2 in terms of 3d model parts breaking off and stuff... that was one of very few great games that actually was better in 3d because they made USE of the 3dness with the bodypart targetting and breaking off... I drool at the prospect of doing that with current gen system physics and calculations.. pleeasee.. pleeeeeassee!
Golden sun not suck... that DS version is a joke, undo it, and do it properly. blech.
Phantasy star online 2 NA... official... cmon sega, wtf... gimmie nova too, of course they wont...here have this super buggy sonic game nobody cares about instead.
Ogre battle 3... not tactics ogre.. ogre battle. I don't even know why they keep making more tactics ogre games. I mean yeah sure people like em, but the people who played ogre battle when it was new, people LOVED it. Not to mention alot of the assets and music and whatnot that people like in tactics were jacked from battle too, so some of the credit it has really belongs elsewhere.
I'm sure there's more.

Blood source port or remake of the game akin to the one Shadow Warrior got. Neither is going to happen because apparently legal rights to Blood franchise are a total charlie foxtrot or something. Which is a shame because that was probably the most atmospheric shooter I ever played. The first one anyway, Blood 2 was kind of "eh".

I want a general SquareSoft (you read that right) collection. They were awesome back in the day, with plenty never leaving Japan. Bahamut Lagoon, Blood of Bahamut, Seiken Densetsu series, etc. They had plenty of gems that would shine bright if put together for the modern market. Especially with all the rpgs hitting the DS and Vita.
But for specifics, Legacy of Kain. Fantastic series. Great story. Needs a collection, reboot or sequel. Either would be awesome.

Haha, cool ideas guys. I see I'm not alone. ghaleon, yes, I was not impressed with the Lufia 2 remake. I was really excited that it would be more...actually like Lufia 2. The personality of it was all right, but...especially how they redesigned some of the characters was ugh. I used to like Guy and Dekar, now they're...idiots? I really like the GBA FF4 port. That added stuff at the end was amazing. Special character specific dungeons were awesome...and each gave the character something to make them viable endgame. You could beat Zeromus with Edward if you wanted, lol. The DS game was pretty good. I'm not a fan of how the classic sprite games are relegated to big head chibi 3D characters myself, but in spite of that it was fine. The FMV and acting was cool, too. Otherwise, not all that much stood out. It didn't feel harder at all honestly. I've played The After as well and that was fun. The only thing I've not played is the added stuff in the Complete Collection, which for some reason is a thing that added MORE things. Geez, so yeah, that's GBA remake, DS remake, The After mobile/Wii, Complete Collection. Can't really count FF Chronicles since that was just basically SNES FF2 with load times. I almost put Xenosaga in my first post, actually. I'm disappointed as well that they didn't end up making as many games as promised. XS1 was good, 2 was...2, and XS3 was great. I remember reading a bit about the team disbanding back when I was in the Xenosaga fandom, but can't remember the details (the "Xenolegacy" forums were probably the last big forums I was a part of). My home wifi is called UMN, lol. But yes, something like a Platinum Games stylish action game starring KOS-MOS is something that's crossed my mind before, as well. That character is REALLY popular and recognizable, moreso than the actual game she's from, kind of like the same deal as Morrigan. No one -actually plays- Darkstalkers, but they certainly want the succubus in every crossover game. The Valkyrie Profile portable game was actually DS, and it was pretty good, yeah...but it was at heart another portable tactics game. I took it as more of a non-canon side story than anything. I have mixed feelings on Wylfred as a character, too. But yeah, VP2 is a beautiful game that did so many things well. It's criminal that the game didn't get any attention at all. I remember when the Gamespot reviews came out for that and Bully at around the same time, Bully scored higher overall and graphically. LOL. No. Smaller Japanese games couldn't score higher than 8s anyway, though. Phantasy Star was something else that crossed my mind when I was typing, but instead...the Genesis games. Phantasy Star II and IV were kinda...different? I never got into PSO, I've actually never played an MMO (thank goodness?), but there was nothing like classic Phantasy Star back in the day, and still now. The only thing I can say is a sci fi JPRG is Star Ocean, sort of, but those really don't often have a lot to do with space. More that space dude ends up in fantasy land; chaos ensues. It's like a single Star Trek episode. I liked what I played of Ogre Battle, and that's a good call. Tactics Ogre went from being the cool, cult offshoot to being the main thing. Funny how that works. |

I heard one of the reasons they are remaking Tsukihime was so that they could update the artwork for Melty Blood.
Yakuza vs Shenmue
Kazuma Kiryu would travel to the Shenmue world sporting his look from Yakuza Zero and help Ryo on his adventures. Then for the other game or int he same game, Ryo Hazuki would travel to Kiryu's world sporting an older look. Heat actions would be killer, there would be team heat moves. And I'd make it so that the gameplay resembles a 3D Streets of Rage with multiplayer!
Street Fighter Alpha 4 (2D)
That's right! A new game in the alpha series that features those amazing animated sprites, speed, and precision of the alpha series in glorious HD. Whether it be based on Alpha 2 or Alpha 3 is up to them. I'd mix the two. Alpha 2's mechanics and Alpha 3's roster.

A 3rd Hotel Dusk Game/A Sequel to Last Window on the 3DS
It still makes me choke up that Last Window was Cing's last title. I had always thought they were ahead of their time with the beautiful rotoscoping technique they employed with most of their games. That isn't even mentioning the enthralling stories they told with most of their games. They went bankrupt going on 6 years ago though. The chances of seeing Kyle Hyde or even Ashley Robbins again are almost non-existent. I would have got the Wii sequel to Trace Memory, but it only works on European Wiis...because that's the only country it came out in other than Japan. At least the DS was region free so I could play Last Window. Anyway, the story could be one final ride for Kyle as he solves his last mystery. Would be nice.
Honorable Mention goes to Zero Escape 3, because not only did this game happen, it's coming pretty soon next year hopefully. I'd expect August.

RE: Alpha 4, well...SF5 is somewhat close? lol. That's my favorite SF series, though. Mid-late 90s Capcom was their best period.
I never finished Hotek Dusk. It seemed pretty interesting, but unfortunately I didn't get far into it.

a good bof game, new mm and mmx, silent hills, dq collection ds (1-6, want them all on one system, stupid ios >.<), ff collection ds (1-6+4ay, 7-9 can be their own carts), cv99, lufia 3 (still need to play 1+2), a new chrono, all the ys games on steam or psp >.<, ps collection ds with all 4 games, a good lunar 3, ff7r to keep all the raunchy, offbeat, and questionable sections and minigames in as well as make the golden saucer bigger and grander with more gil draining minigames, more sidequests, dungeons, hidden bosses and ultra hard weapons, a non PCed cast (dont whinybaby cloud, dont deflate tifa, dont decaf Mr. T, dont give vincent prozac, dont tone down yuffie <3, dont clean up cid, give cait sith more lines...?, keep the wierd nanaki intro, kill aerith still [but please leave in an extremely hard easter eggy new game + way to bring her back since no armaxes anymore? ;_;], restore vincent and yuffie as main characters storywise but leave them in as missable pls?, dont make scarlet any less evil but please please please rework the bitchslap fight to be more epic, tifas the best martial artist in the world, why does she resort to slapping scarlet?  ) more companies to release cut/censored content as dlc so you can choose to play the uncut version of the game |

Breath of Fire 7 on console: Sorry but BoF6 is scheduled for IOS in Japan. and I WANT the return of BoF3 gene mechanic.
Grandia 4: With a slightly updated Grandia 2 on steam (On sale right now) maybe this is a social experiment to let the devs know that we want a return of this underrated series.
Valkyrie Profile 3 Hrist: With VP1 and 2 Featuring Lenneth and Silmeria, we need to wrap up the sister trilogy.
Megaman X 9: Would anyone here doubt IntiCreates being able to makes this game, if Capcom ever hires/lets them?

I could get behind a new wild arms, id prefer it to be more like 1-3 with 1 style music, 4 and 5 just didnt feel like wild arms to me
And we sorta got an hd ff6 on ios/droid...

Damn Canopus, now those are some ideas.
I beat the shit out of LoLS. Modern Wizardry stuff is pretty good, I like how they tend to keep a little of the classic fantasy flavor usually, but it does make me laugh how folks complain about how hard they are. You can SAVE ANYWHERE in the new games lol. I have the most experience with SNES Wiz 5, which...lol. The harshest of deaths in that game. Love it. I bought the complete game from a local store recently...only SNES game I have atm.

Wild ARMs, man...I really, really like WA3. Do any of you guys have the Englsih vocal versions of the opening/save songs? I would really like those, can't find them online anymore.
SaGa: Have you heard about that new 3DS game that's essentially a SaGa game? It's called Legend of Legacy. Sounds fairly similar, but I can't say as I haven't played seen it in action. SF1 was so different in its day, I liked it.
I think there's even a new Seiken Densetsu project. A friend of mine and I were talking about some kind of Mana news recently, can't recall details...
Castlevania Warriors. Man, I wouldn't mind that at all. Considering that's one of the few actual directions that console/anime franchises are going in now, I could actually see that happening.

I don't know where the license/franchise lies right now, but From Software has had amazing success lately with the Souls games and could make this happen with a separate team. I love quoting the old games, and they had a unique feel to them.
