Are people even complaining though? Most people who are used to your average Castlevania from IGA are expecting the game to go full broke at a certain point. Is there some database that they're analyzing from your casual fan who bought the game cause of the marketing spiel, who are now talking shit about how "broken" it is or something?
Who the hell complained about this in mass? I follow /v/ threads daily where people discuss the hell out of the game with the odd complaint here and there which is clearly the exception. It's not easy to please /v/ and they have a very strong metroidvania core in that place and they love the game. I can count the number of times someone complained about poor balance with one hand. I've been to dozens upon dozens of threads now.
I'm curious to know what was the logic behind this and it also a bit annoying there's no updates anymore, just small posts from community managers.

Who the hell complained about this in mass? Steam users, mostly. From what i 've been digging into myself, i see if not the most, at least the most vocal complaints PRO-nerf, originating there. Entire threads are dedicated on "celebrating" for the upcoming nerfs, that are to supposedly bring "balance" to the game, or crazy insane rants on "how that OP weapon ruined my experience with the game".

Anyone who has looked at typical Steam reviews should know how terrible the opinions of the average Steam user are.

I really doubt that this is in response to complaints. ArtPlay has made it pretty clear that they're adopting a rolling development model, and that people should expect changes and updates and tweaks over time. This is that.
Any complaints that the developers would be likely to read and pay attention to would probably be in Japanese forums anyway.

a rolling development model
Ah, the old "it compiled, ship it" version of quality assurance.
I mean I already knew, but it really speaks volumes about the switch launch.
This is, legit, the third game I've ever had crash on me on a nintendo system.
And it's the first I've ever had crash more than once without using some game altering device.
I don't care how good one version is if the version I want to play it on crashes regularly on a console.
Hell, I question how it ever got released in that state. I'd ask "Did nobody playtest it!?"
But then... Well, obviously, if they're 'tweaking the competitive balance' of a single player game.

Actually, we got the game first. Meanwhile, Japanese fans are coming to our board to get their voices heard.

I disagree. From the promo video itself they claimed they listen to complaints. The rolling development thing, it is about the 13 promised dlc, not nerf.

Are people even complaining though? The answer to this is always yes. That being said, I don't read the Steam community stuff at all (and I don't think 505 and certainly not ArtPlay pay much attention to it either, seems like a step above/below? 4chan in there from what I hear), but it would seem that our threads here are the only strong anti-nerf spots, and same for the DLC outfits thing. The discord was less one-sided than here and the reddit seems to stand with the dev decisions very strongly. IGA and his team have an ear to feedback that is filtered to them, but they only move on what they agree with and in some cases were already working on/thinking themselves anyway. Some of those shard changes are to things that I haven't seen mentioned anywhere (unless again it's 4ch or Steam etc), and that's likely tied to things they know more about than us. Well, to the root of it all, they know more than us about everything anyway so there's that. It doesn't preclude the discussion of preference and philosophy though and I can't speak for what they will/won't agree with anywhere.

I'm working to collect the info we need for the next KS update (possibly being posted on the 1st). There's been a lot of variables so we haven't had much concrete info to share. The goal is to provide updates on all the outstanding issues and also give a bit more context around the stat changes that are coming.

It's just that it quickly gets buried and hit by downvote brigades. If you go by the actual number of comments, support to opposition is about even at best, I'd say.

I complained about the platform cancellation and drm and got downvoted. Kickstarter page also opposes the nerf. I wonder who are the dev trying to please. They claimed it is easy to nerf, as easy as changing some value in excel. Then, they nerf craftwork, that further proves that they didn't even know what they were doing. One more thing, there are those who are neutral, they don't support nerf. Look at the screenshot from discord. They received more shit and downvote than upvote.

Maybe I'm weird in wanting to see what direction the developers want to take the game. There are some things I just didn't use because of the imbalance. Either it was so weak it became a hindrance or it was so strong I felt like I was missing out on what was the intended experience. My experiences with Igarashi's games is that the skills themselves don't need to be overpowered because the character will get there through leveling and finding the strongest gear.

The thing is in end game these nerfs don't do anything but inconvenience the player because everything is op. So before you would get the range of slightly op to extremely op and now that's been reduced. It's not fun, I like screen nuking literally everything if I want especially when farming because there is a lot of that. If i get bored with that I put on a base sword and stop using shards. Pretty easy to adjust without dev influence forcing it. Maybe our mod community will have to correct this if they won't.

Despite the backlash, they insist to nerf the game, their ego is the biggest problem here.

Well, damn. At least, i managed to beat the game, all current content. And to backup the 1.05 installer, for possible future use. GOG version is the best version, out of them all.

I was not sure I'd like this nerfing buisness at all. However after playing the update today, I have to say, I don't mind the nerfs at all. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Looking at you, IGA! lol

Nerfing is lame and shouldn't be a thing in single player games in my opinion Anyone who wants a challenge probably isn't going to get it against AI, other players and leaderboard records is the answer for that.
Considering we still need bug fixes and content it's really lame they are deciding to "balance" the game first if you're going to make controversial changes please get other things done first please Fixes>Content>Fixes To New Content>Cosmetic DLC>"Balance"

They can balance the PVP mode to their hearts' content but not in a single player game
