Even though it's a backer designed room I really dislike when a room like this have no ultra hidden secret.
The confessional booth in Sotn was very mysterious but it ended up having no hidden secret.
It's so painful when mystery rooms like these are "wasted". I mean just make it REALLY hard to figure out...so random that it will take years for someone to happen upon by chance.

Not having a mechanical secret isn't a waste: it's just not what you in particular want out of a room. (I am all for more ambience rooms in games. The Save Room is one of the best room designed in RoTN, IMO)

I enjoy the room for it's maybe mystery. but I also enjoyed finding Mew under the truck next to the SS Anne in the original Pokemon games.

The ferryman part of SotN has no real mechanical value, but it was cool. This room is beautiful, and I don't care if it has something extra we haven't found yet or not. It's more amazing than the ferryman scene and the confessional booth put together.
It WOULD be extra cool that we end up finding out like 2 years later that there could be something else, but I don't need that to appreciate this great room. Is it required for 100% map? If so, it's likely one of the last rooms you will find and it's a rewarding room just to hang out in. Many of us wanted Miriam's room and didn't get it, but at least this room feel safe even if haunted.

That room is good to create fake rumors like if you manage to kill the ghost, a 3rd castle will emerge and you will go over 100% map completion, etc  I can totally see that happening if this was in the early 2000s and the internet was just starting. I can recall lots of BS game rumors. L is real 2401, run around the fountain clockwise and anti-clockwise 64 times to unlock Luigi. |

Its a backer room, designed by request from the backer.
It does what it is suppose to do - play some tunes and be filled with musicboxes.
Nothing else. Except show the world how cute the cat in the portrait is.
I suspect, but not confirmed, the music is made by the backer. If not, then for that backer.

Edit: Just had a thought for another, possible, secret. Todd. Has anyone decided it'd be worth it to see what happens after changing Miriam's hair style 666 times? Might be a worthy, if a bit dull, experiment.
