Realistic-tier: 1-3 (with horrible filters, crappy backgrounds, noticeable input lag, audio problems, save states and no extras whatsoever) and that’s it! thanks Konami I guess…  Good-tier: 1-4 and Bloodlines, Good.Best-tier (It’s not gonna happen): 1-4, Bloodlines, Vampire Killer and Castlevania Rebirth, you must clear 1-4 to unlock the other games. Here's a kooky notion/theory that just hit me... The only game that is technically an "anniversary" in terms of even years is Castlevania III, which was released in 1989 in Japan, making this the 30th anniversary. Well, what if the anniversary collection is more along the lines of IGA's earlier "Chronicles" releases. Given the Netflix series' success dealing with Castlevania III, could we possibly be looking at a release of the NES and Famicom Castlevania III alongside a new remake of Castlevania III with Netflix-related character/art references all in one package? The only other thing that makes me wonder this is that the E3 2018 rumor was a collection and a new game. What if Requiem was the collection and this is the new game, or else this new release is both a collection AND a new game. I think it's a bit far-fetched, but still, it would explain the title...

I just want every single plot based "canon" Castlevania game regardless of system released (Yes even Castlevania Order of Shadows) in one collection for my PS4, (though I'd buy another system if needed) with a huge tome of information on each game to come with the package.... Is that SOOO much to ask Konami? (Yes I know it is... but still)

There was also rumor of a 4th ReBirth game that would come alongside the other 3 being re-released for Switch, so that could line up with the "new" game being CV3 ReBirth, something I've wanted and posted about for a while, though I do feel like Curse of the Moon already hit a few of those notes. It could perhaps or perhaps not have Netflix tie-ins, which would be a great idea for cross-promotion, but I would prefer it stick to original or new styles than the Netflix canon/designs personally. I don't think Konami will put a lot of effort in this new collection, but I hope they hire a competent company with experience in porting classic videogames to modern systems like HexaDrive, Arika, Backbone Entertainment or even the legendary M2. What I expect from Konami? Castlevania 1-3 nes roms in a digital download and without extras or fancy stuff, perhaps savestates, backgrounds and filters.

That's what I was thinking, that it would be collection the first three. But your idea about the remake is interesting... I mentioned earlier that this year's the 30th anniversary of Castlevania: The Adventure as well, but it's also the 10th year anniversary of Adventure Rebirth, so there's some precedent there. Also, the tag (or whatever it's called) at the end of the Castlevania Netflix show's second season they show an 8-bit pixel-art version of the show's Trevor Belmont design. It proves nothing, but it's quite the tease. When you consider that Requiem was released in tandem with the show's second season, they may be considering further tie-ins. |

RichterB There might be other Castlevania shows in the future according to adishankar since the Netflix adaption went so well and became well recieved by the fans across the world. I remember he said he liked the story of Alucard in Symphony of the Night. So that's a thing.. Stories could be told in a fresh new way, and if Konami wants to, they could make a deal to adapt the new stories (of old) into epic new games. And by epic, I mean in a smaller scale, but lots of energy and love poured into it. Or.. Would be awsome if Mr. Shankar shake hands with IGA-san and made a Netflix adaption of Bloodstained - Ritual of the Night.

Konami could seriously make big cash if they released a GBA + NDS collection.
Like, update the assets to fit an HD screen please. Konami, for once, can you make an effort in making your collections updated?
I pulled back on buying Requiem since I finished SotN and RoB so many times now! But if we were to have a GBA + NDS collection with updated assets (and adjustments to the lack of a touchscreen) then I might restore a fragment of hope for Konami.
A lot of people love Castlevania now because of Simon and Richter's inclusion in Smash and as well as the fact that the Netflix show is a massive hit.

Lepstadder I didn't bother with Requiem either. Got Dracula Chronicle X on PSP.. Its a nice collection right there with 4 game. Edit: 1 of the games are ... uhm, small.

The Netflix show itself that we've seen is continuous/not over yet, and it's our assumption that it will eventually go into Dracula X/SotN territory. Shankar is also a big Soma fan.
But who knows what we'll really get since Ellis is the writer lol

I am sadly predicting that the 3rd season will be the final season, and the production will move on into working DMC anime and other projects, they will wrap up the Hector/Isaac and Carmilla's storylines. I'm hoping that Alucard will sit the 3rd season out and Trevor, Sypha will team up with Grant to finish off Carmilla.

There was talk that the Netflix Castlevania and DMC universes would be somehow linked, some kind of pseudo-shared universe. I don't think it's ever been clarified but that crossover idea is based off of an intentionally nebulous comment made by Adi Shankar in which he said that him and his team were trying to create a bootleg universe of diverse properties. Fan's speculated this to mean that DMC and Castlevania were gonna have a crossover and tie into other franchises much like the Marvel cineverse. However there's been no hint of this being the case so far as I know and being as Castlevania and DMC are owned by separate companies I highly doubt this will happen. Adi himself said let the speculation begin and dropped the subject. I think the comment is simply referring to the fact that he and his team want to get the rights to several franchises and do there own versions of them much like they did with Castlevania. But who knows? |

The collection is somewhat disappointing, I wanted at least SotN on it and I think it will not be here. I still have hopes for Rondo. The only confort is that it seems to be the FIRST CV collection, which gives hope for the second one with medtroidvanias.

ReySolPersonally I'm hoping there will be other games like Bloodlines, Legacy of Darkness, Circle of the Moon, Harmony of Dissonance, Lament of Innocence, Curse of Darkness, Aria of Sorrow, The Adventure ReBirth. Symphony of the Night is already on several systems and was released for Requiem just last fall.

I hope this collection isn't crap. From a content point of view it seems fine with that number of games and the inclusion of Belmont's Revenge is surprising. The emulation must be done properly, though. I won't trust Konami until it's out, but I could buy it along with the Contra collection, if only to have a way to play certain titles without downloading emulators (which I hate) off the internet anymore.

Symphony of the Night should be on Switch as well. I think there is a lot of possibility for GBA games on the second collection. I will buy the first collection to support the franchise, but I am not sure if I will play these games. I only like Rondo of all those classic CV games. The older games are frustrating due to controls and difficulty.
