absorbnix - In no way did I mean to direct my message at you. In fact I feel that Mac/Linux backers deserve to be refunded. My point was that the Kickstarter comment sections is, for lack of a better word a complete "shitshow" with posters routinely attacking each other. The atmosphere between Kickstarter and this forum is night and day.

Actually, unless the place is expressly 'for' Bloodstained, everywhere becomes a shitshow when Bloodstained gets mentioned.
I blame slavering Hollow Knight fans. Not because I have proof, but because I'm kind of a prick like that.

All the crap that was being raved about I simply don't share. I grew up with JRPGs and when SotN came out as a bizarre mish-mash of so many things including RPGs and gear... I fell in love with it.
Also, flatly, I dislike the aesthetic immensely. I'm also very done with the whole Dark Souls-esque thing (which only drew me in for the RPG elements that are eschewed here). I've died enough times in those games that I'm all played out with dying a lot.
This game ain't for me. I'm simply not interested.

Hollow Knight, objectively speaking, is a good game with good art.
I gave the game like, 5 hours on my friend's laptop and I still couldn't get into it because I don't like how "cartoony" is trying to be "dark and gritty". It could also be because I still prefer my gothic castles with monsters and not bugs. He loves the hell out of it though. In contrast, he doesn't like Castlevania. Not even the old ones. He isn't a fan. I usually don't express my lack of interest for Hollow Knight because the last time I did that, I had a lot of downvotes at Reddit even though I wasn't being biased.
Kinda funny how SotN fans make a game that is essentially a love letter to SotN, only to produce an audience that massively prefers it over the inspiration. I'm not trying to be an elitist or something, but Castlevania (or Iga's work in general) has the charm that I am looking for. I prefer remembering places in the castle because there's an iconic clock tower, a marble gallery or a really creepy underground.
Unlike Hollow Knight, areas are just places with different palettes and some minor changes to the environment (I could be wrong). Plus, I don't like bugs. BUT, Silksong looks promising. I'll give that one a shot with my money. Sometimes, the only time I will feel obligated to finish a game is if I actually spend money for it.

I wasn't planning on coming back to this forum after the launch window announcement because as some may know I was really disappointed in how this Kickstarter project has been handled ever since the Linux and Mac cancellation, but I gotta say a few things and this thread makes the most sense to post my comment. First, I'll concede that there are clear improvements being made to this game and that I was too critical of it before, partially because of my frustration with the project. Second, my interest in this game has been rekindled, though not that much. I will wait for reviews before I buy it and if the reviews of this game aren't mostly positive I'll wait for a discount. Third, some Linux backers just crossed the line and started verbally attacking 505 Games staff on the Kickstarter page and that's just completely ridiculous, and because of that I don't stand with them anymore. If they were superbackers I would understand their frustration because it would mean they spent a considerable amount of money only to get nothing in return, but those people are just out of their minds right now. There's simply no excuse to being so aggressive like they're being now. And them spreading lies about how the game is going to be a flop when it's the 3rd best selling game on the Switch and the overall reception of the game is highly positive doesn't really help their cause as well. So now I'm cautiosly optimistic about this game and will keep an eye on the following updates until release. So only now you took issue with the (pardon my french) shit flinging going on in the KS page comments because someone targeted a staff member while throwing a temper tantrum and said some bad words to him?
I honestly don't know what you're trying to achieve here. If you wanted to say you've changed your mind about the game you should've said just so and stopped there. The rest of your comment reeks of hypocrisy because apparently you seem to be completely fine with the rest of the toxic comments there.
The comment sections on the KS page has been a shit show for months now and I'm pretty sure devs / staff members have been insulted numerous times before, so coming here now demanding moderation only for certain comments is not only hypocritical but also dumb.

Easy now, Holic. Kono Dia Da! has expressed a willingness to change their views and has also condemned at least some forms of toxic behavior, so don't be too quick to accuse them of double standards or similar charges. I agree that there's been a lot of trouble on Kickstarter for a while now, which will hopefully subside as we draw closer to release and the sting of the mac/linux cancellations fades, but here on the forums, let's try to cultivate a much more congenial atmosphere. Us mods, and I can speak reasonably well for 5o5 and the staff too, do appreciate your support and agree that all forms of toxic behavior are bad, but you're not a moderator and it's not your responsibility to "call people out" here--in fact, we'd prefer you not do it, as "calling out" often makes our job harder. Such is often a form of toxicity, in fact.
But yes, we certainly want to put a damper on toxicity, but on the other hand, also remember that not everyone pays close attention to the KS comments. I myself don't go there very often, because even though I backed for 500 dollars, Kickstarter won't let me comment because I paid via paypal ):T It's quite possible the person you were referring to just checked back recently and saw the most recent slew of comments attacking the staff, and hadn't been immersed in the miasma that had been building over there for some time. Let's be charitable and assume the best of our fellow users on here instead of immediately rushing to condemn them.
In any case, though, Question and Angel are very experienced when it comes to dealing with people mad at them--as brand and community managers, they've dealt with angry backers or people whose orders have been messed up before, it's part of their job. As annoying as attacks on the staff may be, especially when (as Kono Dia Da! pointed out) the game is on an upwswing, 505 is capable of dealing with it, and I personally have faith that they'll be able to mollify the disgruntled mac/linux backers eventually, whether through making a really great game that can still be played on those systems via Proton or Wine or whatever, or something else we haven't seen yet.

gunlord500 I'm sorry if my comment was out of line and I apologize for it. But Kono Dia Da! explicitly said in another comment that he / she has been following the comments on the KS page closely and the he /she knows about people who have verbally attacked absorbnix there, so I'm not going off on any baseless assumptions. Again, I apologize for my comment, but I just couldn't let this one slide. I have been vocal about my dislike of what's going on in the comments section of the KS page in this forum, and as someone who has suffered cyber bullying and completely gave up on multiplayer games because of toxic behavior this topic resonates a lot with me. So when I see someone being selective about what they find toxic it strikes a nerve with me. Like I said, you're either against toxic behavior or you're not, there's no middle ground to be taken when it comes to this matter.

The vita version getting canned just a few months after the slacker backer option closed REALLY pissed me off. We were reassured that RotN was still coming to the handheld that very spring. What pushed my hype down the drain was the fuckups with the Curse of the Moon codes. Some regions never even recieved their codes. Lame, weak, not cool, etc.
However, if the kickstarter bonuses stay exclusive to the kickstarter backers and if all of the contents planned are included on the disc/cartridge... and we get exactly everything else promised during the kickstarter... yes, then I will probably get some of that lost hype back.
Thankfully, hype is not needed to enjoy a game.
