I backed at $60 so I could have the extras, but I'm so glad you asked. Let's suppose that every single person who responded to the poll and said they backed because of Mac or Linux backed, on average, $100, give or take. That means, 505 could probably have taken care of this entire problem for somewhere around $2000, which is chump change for a game publisher, even a small one. After all, everyone assumes that Linux and Mac are these teeny-tiny groups and, aside from those of us who were sent here when we asked for a refund, nobody else has bothered with it. Would it matter if I'd spent $100? $1000? Would it have helped if I paid extra for a signed physical copy of a Linux version that they never even tried to make? There wasn't any particular narrative behind why I asked the question, but it sparked my curiosity because money was brought up on a few responses. I'm totally for your frustration on the situation. But maybe consider how much of your time is worth all this frustration given the amount of money you put into it? I'm not advocating either way, but there's always another perspective to consider.

I feel the reason people fight things like this isn't about the money, but rather the morality behind it. Time is money, but many people are willing to spend their time in pursuit of justice.
Letting things like this go without a fight is basically saying it's okay to do it. It happens once or twice and you're like "Well it's not worth my time." But when it happens again and again you either step away from society, or you stand for your beliefs and say enough is enough.
Either give up and let people step on you or do something about it.

Then shall I say, keep up the good fight! Each person decides what's worth their time, and I was curious about what was the underlying reason for putting in the effort and experiencing such frustration.

We’re still on this? I wish they released this game soon or at least start the marketing push so we can start putting this debacle behind us. Once the game is out I’m certain we’ll remember this as well as we remember that Iga was supposed to cosplay for us (it was one of those additional achievements we got in the campaign) and yet never did.

They don't get to just forget because it's inconvenient for them.

Since they deleted the Linux/Mac version, I'm looking forward to the upcoming announcement of Epic Games Store exclusivity and the resulting deletion/delay of the DRM-free version (just joking... )

Poor you. Get yourself any of the supported platforms or leave us be. I’m sure you have better things to spend your time with than lurking online on every site whining about how they disappointed all 37 backers who were depending on a Linux version to play Bloodstained.

It'll be "fun" wasting the time of people who may still want to play the game despite knowing of the project's bumps in the road? Especially those whom it doesn't directly affect? What percentage of people across all of these sites' comment-sections do you actually expect to read and/or react favorably? What's your goal, exactly?

Browren and other backers impacted (myself included) are well within their rights to protest the treatment 505 has given them. You're not the arbiter of anything beyond your own actions here, get used to it and quit making baseless ultimatums that mean nothing or you look worse than the people you criticize.

Even if I'm not directly affected by the Mac/Linux decision, saying that complaining is a waste of time is, in my opinion, rather disheartening, especially for a Kickstarter campaign. The people affected are backers and fans just like all of us that believed in the project and decided to put their own money in it, and now after all the waiting they're told by the dev/publisher that they won't receive the game on the platform they chose, they won't receive their money back (I think this is the biggest problem) and, like it wasn't enough, they're told by other backers (not all of them) to "get over it" and stop complaining. Honestly they have all the rights to complain, and I'm sure that those people saying to "get over it" and to "stop wasting time", if they were affected by a similar decision, they would complain in the same manner.

I didn't say that the act of complaining in itself is a waste of time. I said it's a waste of time [and effort] to "have fun" trying in vain to convince people who have already determined that they're getting the game. It's pretty obvious that the majority of people complaining are backers & fans like us, but it's getting increasingly difficult to feel sympathy for those who seem to be planning to do worse than just simply complain; a couple of the same people on this thread have already threatened to go on a smear-campaign for this entire project just because they didn't get the specific port/version they wanted. Overall, those on this path are overestimating their impact. I know I wouldn't automatically call this project a "dumpster fire", or threaten to take the developers to court, if one of the specific versions I backed for in the past (Wii U) was dropped. Because an alternative was offered (Switch) without extra cost, I opted for that instead. Similarly, Wine has been suggested as an alternative to play the Windows version.

Backers, fans and anyone in general is welcome here to share their thoughts on the project and its situation, positive or negative, and regardless of their backed amount or contribution at all. We will also allow the expression of the intent to deride Bloodstained on other forms of media, but we won't facilitate or allow the organization of "brigading" as such here. If the official staff, admins or moderation team ever feel that it is getting truly out of hand, we will shut such an effort down. As of now, I see no cause to do that and again advise others not to engage the affected backers and allow them their voice.

Wine is very much not a "real" alternative to a cancelled OS support, at least not nearly in the way that Switch is an alternative to the Wii U.

The hoops you jump through to get Wine to work is definitely not fun, and when you get something working (if at all) the performance is like 50% most of the time.

Speaking of, as Browren showed us in this post, the game apparently ran as it is, but I just now noticed he was using the 2016 demo. I imagine the code and software at use is a bit different in the 2018 beta/final. bloodstained.forums.net/post/62552

It's pretty obvious that the majority of people complaining are backers & fans like us, but it's getting increasingly difficult to feel sympathy for those who seem to be planning to do worse than just simply complain This is EXACTLY why 505 sent us here, because of posts like this. Nobody asked for your sympathy, in fact the only people who were required to participate were those of us who got ripped off, and Question, because he is 505's representative. 505 gets you and people like you to do their deflection for them and hand-wave for them, and the people who they ripped off get written off.
Do you really think that any of us WANT to be here complaining? I wanted my frikkin' game.
Did they offer YOU a refund when they cancelled your port? Yep.
Did they offer us one? Nope.
If my pointing out these facts on review sites changes even one person's mind - or gets mentioned in a review, God forbid - then they're getting what they deserve for ripping us off.
