Koji Igarashi's agent Ben Judd of DanGen and DDM joins the Bloodstained Community Broadcast yet again to continue our Halloween tradition! I had a great time with this one, and we gave a bit of a description of what Bloodstained is at the beginning in hopes you will share this around. You can listen to the show on YouTube, Wordpress, iTunes, Stitcher, Google Play, or by the RSS feed. Please show your appreciation by following DanGen on Twitter and by joining their Discord community!

Thank you for asking my question, XombieMike! I'm glad that Ben is still on board with Iga and Bloodstained. And yeah a Curse of Darkness remake could be amazing Great Podcast overall, was a lot of fun to listen to!

Sekiro ...yeah I knew Ben had said in the past he was working with From Software, but didn't know what the extent of that was. Maybe he got them hooked up with Activision or encouraged the gears to get in motion in general for the Tenchu-ish Souls action game. Really looking forward to that as a fan of both franchises. Aw man Mike, you should familiarize yourself with Platinum Games. Main guy behind that company is Hideki Kamiya. Main notable works are Bayonetta 1-2 (dev and publish) and Nier: Automata (dev). The guy's favorite action game is Castlevania 1. Somebody you should be a fan of! haha It's been so long since I've been enamored with Magic Sword, I used to play it at my hometown Food Lion but I never had opportunity to hear the music. I need to get on that. No idea Matsumae-san did the music and I'm in a darn picture with her lol. Dude I'm a competitive player of King of Fighters 14 and I didn't know Ben was in the credits. That's awesome. I'd bet good money one of those remakes happening is Dino Crisis. I've heard rumblings of that here and there in the past, and I think it's a concept that would work great in modern day, especially if it can look anywhere near as good as RE2 remake. I can't imagine it'd get that budget, but still heh. Wonder if Ben has played Octopath Traveler yet? I'm into the old style JRPG genre myself so much that I bought that game on release and still don't have a Switch heh.

Just remembered something else from the episode...Phantasy Star 4 was A HUNDRED DOLLARS? Wow. All this time I'd been using the clear example I remember in my mind of SNES Street Fighter 2 being $80. Me and my brother must have gotten Phantasy Star 4 a good bit after release. What a cool game...I've been thinking off and on today how I could make Alys in Soulcalibur. heh
I think Rune is probably doable at least. Also I need to look up that board game. I have the Dark Souls one you guys were alluding to, I was a Kickstarter backer for it.

Its funny, I've been getting back into playing board games with groups of friends, started back when Totalbiscuit (rip) was also talking about a renaissance of board games. I've personally nabbed the Bloodborne card game, which is a ton of fun, and other groups of friends have games like Sherriff of Nottingham or Smash Up.
So many left board games behind because we 'grew up' and now we're going back to them because board and card games are awesome XD

Hey Ben, If you want to create a Bloodstained Board Game, an approach like the Space Hulk Board game might be worth it. Space Hulk is a game where you have rooms, junctions and hallways that you set up however you like. With come creativity, No two play will be the same. You can make the area as big or small as you like and if you have buddies who have the game as well, you can expand the size of the map. Maybe even create a Boss Rush where 1 room = 1 Boss.

Yeah I'd definitely play a Bloodstained board game. I wonder if that's something Fangamer could manage to produce? Each individual part are things they've done before (mini figures, cards, many other custom dodads...)
Working in multiple characters and bosses, sounds like it'd be great.

I for one would totally buy a well made Bloodstained board game. Fangamer may be able to produce it but someone needs to design it - IGA, perhaps?

Oh yeah, thought of something else I wanted to mention - fans seemed divided on FF4: The After Years, but I enjoyed it myself. Might have to bug Ben about it sometime to see what he thinks. The PSP collection even has a story that bridges OG 4 and The After, I really need to do that...
Hopefully S-E eventually re-releases that stuff somehow. Pretty unlikely I'll play a PSP game at this point, unless it's on Vita PSN? hmm

Just remembered something else from the episode...Phantasy Star 4 was A HUNDRED DOLLARS? Wow. The 8- and 16-bit generations were before my time, so I find it especially surreal to hear about how wild prices were back then (also considering that Phantasy Star IV is $0.99 on Steam, which is a little wild in its own way).

Haha, yeah I usually bring up one of these examples when folks are complaining about game prices and why companies use DLC - because they kind of have to/need to often since the cost of games hasn't gone up in 30 years (and in some cases like this, down). Of course, sales and the way budgets work and licensing deals etc can bring different circumstances than the 80s and 90s gaming scene, but the point remains as a part of this. Also, just adjusted for inflation with a calculator site for that, and $100 in 1993 when PSIV came out would have the buying power of $177 now. It's of course worth noting as well that at that time, people had in general more money to spend, the economy was pretty strong but yeah lol. data.bls.gov/cgi-bin/cpicalc.pl?cost1=100&year1=199301&year2=201809
