Hmm....really starting to wonder if it's not a cpu issue.
Edit: Figured I'd add my specs, even though the game runs fine for me. Doesn't hurt to have more information in these matters, eh?
CPU: Intel Core i3-4130 3.4ghz
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB
OS: Win7 64bit
RAM: 8GB

For reference, I was able to get by doing a combination of the previous advice here.
1. Changed resolution to 1600 x 900 2. Slide into the crate then push forward on it a bit 3. Repeat step 2 until the box is in position
For me it only took a minute or so to get it in a good enough position to jump up with. When doing the slide trick without changing the resolution first the box didn't move. Box bug defeated, wahahahahahaha!

Spamming menu while pushing at the same time makes the crate move much faster.

What worked for me to solve the crate boss. Have a Nvidia 940mx. Changed settings to 720p windowed and was able to move the crate and performance improved so that controls were not sluggish.

I couldn't beat the crate--only tried the slide trick people talked about--so just went with the save file fix at the top in conjunction with the 505 Games instructions: support.505games.com/en/support/solutions/articles/24000027517. (Don't forget to remove the <> in the user name and replace it with your own). MANY thanks for that.
...Then I had to grind to get my shards back, because it wasn't my save file. But you know, I heard people talking about changing resolutions. I can't even change my resolution settings at all. Like it doesn't allow me to move the resolution left or right. But maybe that makes sense. It's chugging at 720, and I don't think there's a setting below that.

i did some testing with it, and it seems it's fps bound. in 1080p at 60 fps the crate moves fast. in 1600x900 the fps drops to 30 for some reason and the crate moves much slower (but when it randomly spikes above the crate starts moving faster). 720p runs at 60 too and the crate moves fine.

I got same issue here, and I was in Window mode. I tried to switch to Fullscreen mode and the issue is resolved. And when I switch back to Window mode, it appears again.
Hope this helps.

If it does happen to be more on the fps side of things, it's possible the resolution changes from full to windowed could cause enough of a fps drop so as to render the crate as one of the ultimate bosses in gaming. I'm sure this will be something that's patched out, but still funny to know we already have a fairly decent meme to work with and who knows? Maybe they will add in an actual secret crate boss due to it.

My laptop is fairly good so I can push it quite fast. But if I unplug my laptop, the game runs slower, and so the crate moves at a snail's pace.
Such a weird thing. How can character and enemy speeds be consistent amongst all setups, yet this one crate plays by its own rules?

I mean, either that or David Hayter is hiding out in it at random.

it's not that uncommon, things in various games are bound to fps instead of being independent from it. the crate's speed probably needs to be changed to take fps value into consideration and adapt the movement speed according to it, just like everything else in the game, to always be consistent regardless of how many calculations per second are performed. i'm guessing if you ran the game at 1000 fps, while the game itself would control the same since it's mostly fps-independent, the crate would instantly hit the wall if you touched it.
one example of other games that have that problem, lockpicking in skyrim/fallout 4. if you remove the frame cap to go above 60 fps, and have good enough pc it'll go into thousands, so fast you can't control it anymore, with picks breaking instantly. in dark souls your walking speed is affected by it, so in 60 fps mode your jumps are shorter and sometimes sliding down ladders makes you overshoot the ground level and fall through.
in bloodstained's case it's probably an oversight.

Known and agreed. Jests aside, just been trying to help narrow down what the causes could be. Noticed some have had under 3ghz cpus, which could likely cause some issues, especially since it's hard at work rendering all that water in the background and on the floors, but also noticed what you stated with fps seemingly derping it out. It could also have something to due with unstable collisions, most likely caused from either or both of the above. Also, royally hated the lockpicking on Skyrim and FO4 being tied to frames/resolution. I remember FO4 having no lockpicking visuals on certain resolutions and the workaround was a pain as it could bork other things.

Yeah I've had the same issue on my laptop, used the save file mentioned in the edit above and that got me past it.

I tried changing the resolution, and for me one setting worked - full screen 1600 x 900 - managed to move the crate with no issue; tried on a different playthrough - no bug encountered. It worked for me.

If it's just an fps thing, that's fine enough. But I thought I might add this thought in case it proves relevant: Could this be tied to the order the area loads? (An if/than sort of thing.) For instance, I skipped the crate room at first. I went and used the cannon to blow up the wall to the left and go back to the save point BEFORE returning and going up toward the crate (which leads one toward Vepar). I remember a similar bug being caused by what order a player did things in with Metroid: Other M, where a door would be permanently locked if the player went one way first instead of another. There was a similar problem with Lords of Shadow's chess area, too, if I recall right.

I had the same issues on both my laptop (Intel i3 2ghz processor w/8gigs of ram), and desktop (Intel i5 5ghz w/8gigs ram). I lowered the resolution on the desktop, but it didn't work. Then I tried sliding a few times into the crate, I noticed you couldn't actually slide into it, it turns you around. And then I noticed the crate was moving. And I didn't have to try sliding anymore, I could just move it normally.

Can confirm I just came across with this issue. Can't push it. Loaded a new save, got there, same problem again. This sucks.

Does anyone who can't move the box have Steam VR installed? I uninstalled it and loaded back in and was able to move the crate when I was previously stuck.
