So I was looking through Amazon and ebay tonight and decided to search for Bloodstained curious what would happen, I found both what I expected and things that surprised me...
On Amazon I found a Miram cosplay costume on sale and glassware with Bloodstainedesque logos acid etched into the glass, neither of these surprised me as I'd heard about them before in fact I believe the guy has been selling the glasses since the Kickstarter campaign. However in addition I also found a poster of Mana Ikeda's art for sale. So far as I am aware none of these are officially licensed. (Please inform me if I'm mistaken)
Then I decided to search ebay and found a scalper had posted his/her $300 dollar tier reward for $900.
Now ultimately if scalpers want to sell their things at a markup there is really nothing to stop them beyond not letting your friends pay $900 dollars and reward them with a $600 markup for doing essentially nothing, hell they probably will get Fangamer to pay for shipping if they sell it before the game comes out. But so far as I know the other cases are people selling unlicensed merchandise meaning these people are making money off of all involved with Bloodstained (Iga and Mana most prominently) hard work without paying any fee's or anything. That honestly pisses me off more than alittle particularly considering they are often times charging far more then these things are worth.
In short PLEASE don't buy from or encourage others to give these people business.
Having said all that, if anyone that is in charge of merchandising reads this there are people that would like to spend their money on these things apparently.... Just saying!
Anyways I'd like to hear everyone's thoughts on this matter either for or against.

I'd like to believe there's a special place in Hell just for scalpers.

@autumn I usually agree, but in the case of exclusive Kickstarter rewards, I think it's a little different. The problem with scalpers in the usual context, such as with concert tickets, is that they buy up finite resources, leaving those they take advantage of with no recourse other than to pay the scalper's price if they want what the scalper is selling. But in this case, the finite resource was only the time during which the slacker backer option was open. Anyone could have gotten those rewards for the original price if they wanted. And no one can buy it for that original price now that the option is closed. None of that was affected by someone backing the game with the intent to sell it later.
It's not something I would ever do, but from my perspective, exactly two things happened as a result of this scalper's activity. First, the campaign gained $300 it wouldn't have otherwise. Second, someone who wouldn't have been able to acquire that reward can, albeit for a pretty ridiculous price. The scalper deprived no one of the ability to back at the same price they did. There is no negative consequence. So this is less like scalping and more like simple resell of what is now a scarce collectible.

I don't care for'em too much myself (considering I had to struggle to get a NES classic, which was a very annoying experience), but at the same time they ain't doing anything illegal. I can already see it now actually...you better believe that some people are going to make bank with their physical vita collector editions of bloodstained.

To be fair I myself wouldn't have any sort of issues with it were they simply charging abit extra for example if someone wants to sell their copy of the art book for 30 or so dollars then thats fine and it is true that they are not taking from a limited supply nor doing anything illegal and I'm not one to defend stupid people from doing stupid things if they choose too, still it doesn't sit well with me to see people rewarded $600 dollars simply for exploiting a situation.

But does the amount really matter? Either what they're doing is wrong or it isn't. And is it really any different than someone selling some obscure game cartridge for as much as people will pay for it? In both cases, the opportunity was there for anyone to buy it when it came out, but now the item in question is rare and worth more.
The way I see it, either someone will pay the seller's price, or they won't. If they do, then the seller is only selling at what collectors are currently willing to pay. If they don't then the seller was asking too much and will need to either lower their asking price or wait until the items have more value. It's no different than any other collector's item, and inherently different than scalping.

I found and reported the Mana poster to Angel. He's the guy to get up with if someone finds something like that.
Angel is in charge of the brand/branding of products, so such things will be taken down/care of if at all possible.

Scars Unseen To me someone's a scalper if they are exploiting a situation, the difference between charging abit more than you payed and 3 times what you payed is that one is a fair markup/profit and doesn't exploit anyone and the other is preying off of someone's stupidity. Ones fairplay and the others squeezing blood from a stone. Thats just how I feel about it. It's not something that I would lecture anyone over the morality of, if they want to do it then fine as we both agree it's not illegal But I would still tell people not to buy form that person, someone awhile back used the argument that stores do the same thing which isn't really true, stores have agreements in place and act as distributors for the product, they by and large operate within rules meant to protect the consumer from being exploited. Your not likely to go to a store and find an item charging $1000 for something that normally goes for less then a 1/3 of that. I'm more upset over the bootleg items personally some of them are charging dumbass prices for things I did as high school projects and it truly is stealing from Artplay/IGA and whomever else it would concern not to mention giving fans inferior products.

Apparently it's not even the first app in the series and the first one had floating medusa heads flying at you! A purely original concept as you can all tell.

I can't stand scalpers but here's a suggestion for those who may want the kickstarter in game exclusives but missed the mark:
War for the Overworld's developers released their backer exclusive content as part of a charity incentive. Perhaps the Bloodstained team could do the same. As an added bonus, it makes for great PR.
