Regarding the censorship for games that has other religion symbols is not true (it was a thing in the past, like.. PS3 genre?). Releasing the game to a certain region depends heavily on the publisher, but not Sony Middle East or the General commission for audiovisual media. Only games with explicit content, overly gore (Mortal Kombat for example) and games that has a direct offense to the specific region. I will ask Sony ME to double check too, because all of the Castlevania games are already on the Saudi PSN, makes no sense for Bloodstained to not be in.
I personally use an American PSN account and buy prepaid cards from Amazon or digital shops, because they always release the games 3 weeks or even months later in the region. Has nothing to do with censorship.
PS: The game is not available in Brazil yet, It's definitely all on the publisher.

I let 505 know about this whole thing earlier today. Hope you guys get your games. I'm not worried about Curse of the Moon, as it has little to nothing to warrant a ban. But I am worried about Ritual of the Night, as it may get banned here for nudity (Bloodless) and religious connotations (cross although I haven't seen a cross yet in the game). Please look into that. If a censored version is needed, it would be better than the game being banned here.

Dengojin The information department here have recently banned games like God of War and Dissidia Final Fantasy NT in Saudi Arabia, as well as other nearby countries. The funny thing about Dissidia NT is it has nothing ban-worthy, except for one thing: Cloud of Darkness. That character might as well be nude. Sadly that was enough reason to ban the game here.

Arikado God of War was banned due to the paranoia created by the older games, so they started banning anything related to that brand. I sent a message to one of the Playstation Middle East guys and hopefully they will reply to me as soon as possible! If you want my personal opinion or suggestion regarding this, I would suggest you to create an alternative PSN account and choose different region. You can download the game from the alternative account and still be able to play it on your personal, main account. About your friends being worried that they will not receive their Collectors box. Rest assured, banned games can be imported just fine (in case Bloodstained is banned) and for the European codes, like I said previously, they can just create an alternative European accounts.. let's say UK accounnt and you download the Game/DLCs from it. You will still be able to return to your main account and be able to play the game and it's downloadable content just fine. Edit: Just found out that the Final Fantasy games are not publishing their newer games to the region and they are not banned.

Dengojin I do have an alternative US account, which I have set as a primary account on my system so I can play games I downloaded through it with my main account. Like I said, I'm not worried for myself, but for the game. I really don't want it to be banned here. @ edit: Wouldn't that mean they are banned? There's no reason not to release them otherwise, as they would be missing on more sales, and no company wants that.

Arikado The game sales count on this region would be heavily hurt if a certain games gets for sure, but it is beyond our control I'm afraid.. so the only thing we can do is just to send our complains to Sony and Sony will handle it to the information department. Banned =/= Not published, they're having issues publishing the game for a certain region, but it is not banned.

whitephoenix Think about it like this: If the game is not released here, many people will not play it, as not everyone uses a US account, and not everyone likes downloading games either. If it's released with little censorship, many people will get to enjoy the game, and its popularity and sales will undoubtedly rise as a result. I actually don't like censorship in games, but if it's the only solution to avoid a ban, I say go with it. Sorry, Nope.

Dengojin I'm not sure about the other Square Enix games that were not released here, but I've asked Playstation Support about Dissidia NT and I'll quote their reply here: According to them, the game was banned here. whitephoenix Understandable. I myself wouldn't want to play the game censored. My only concern is if the game does get banned, it may suffer financially as a result.

According my contact with Square Enix and Sony, the Final Fantasy brand is not banned, neither published to the region. Dissidia could be a different matter, it's a mess if you ask me since everyone will give you a different answer in that case.
I just received a reply from Playstation Middle East and they have no information about Curse of the Moon rating in the region or banning info, so it is safe to assume that the game is not out for some countries yet. (I doubt if they have any information about the game itself, anyways to ban it)

Dengojin Yeah, I'm not worried about Curse of the Moon being banned here. Hardly any reason to do that, honestly.

Maybe they were making assumptions about the concept art?
There are angel statues and nuns, would the powers that be be precious about those?

I have hopes that the Middle East will embrace the Bloodstained games as Gebel is named after an important historical man in the region who advanced the entire world in chemistry, mathematics, astronomy and more. Jabir Ibn Hayyan Perhaps localization could remove whatever may prevent publishing in that region. I'd like Bloodstained to be the Castlevania game kids grow up and look back on fondly like we do for CV. Dengo, I think this thread is good evidence a sister forum in your language would do well for establishing community in your region.

Seeing as how Curse isn't available in every region yet, I doubt this is a case of a game being banned. More likely it is delayed in that region or it isn't planned to be released in that region by Inti Creates. Have their other games released in the affected regions? That is probably a good indication on whether Curse is coming or not.
Regarding Ritual, I will mention the potential issue to Angel and see if it's something we can avoid for the launch.

I honestly don't think the game will get banned if the publishers are doing their job correctly there won't be any issue. I also don't think there is anything wrong with angels, Castlevania LOS 1 and 2 feature nudity violence and religous themes but they're not banned. The ban hammer seems random and personal rather than justified. I think CotM having publishing issues created unnecessary paranoia around Ritual where people thinking the game is banned. So please no censorship just do your thing and I'll be waiting for it day 1.
