*** Some spoilers about levels and bosses in here ***
So I don't know if it was obvious to all of you but I just noticed an awesome little detail that is added throughout Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon - The moon in the background changes its phase with every level until in the end it's a full moon!
In the boat level you can see the moon along with the castle at the end right after beating the boss. I could not find an image of this online. And finally: Pretty cool, huh?

Yup totally noticed it about level 4 or so, I was like... wait, did they forget how much of the moon was showing? Talk about sloppy! Then I played a couple more levels and I was like... OOOOOHHHHHHHH I see now.

roguedragon05The shape is quite similar, I never noticed though. Really cool! I wonder if that's intentional - especially since parts of that silhouette date back to that one painting Natsume did for the Kickstarter.

You could probably use that to get a rough estimate of how long the journey in this game was overall, though I'm not certain that was an intended effect of them making the moon phases change like that.

BusterificFascinating thought! Assuming that there's no moon magic going on, that would be about half a month I suppose. Makes you wonder what happens in between stages  Our heroes just take their time hanging out!

I'd think it's possible that there are areas less dangerous that they're going through to fill up the time. It could also allow for some off screen plot that would make the ending of the first play through be a bit more reasonable with Zangetsu going from "I'm not going to kill you because you are useful" to sacrificing himself for the other character. Either way I still think that was a bad ass ending and leads into the second play through well. |

Busterific Now that we're talking about the second run - I've got a little update on this specifically: I'm currently playing nightmare mode and just noticed that in nightmare mode the moon phases continue until it's a new moon right at the end. How cool is that??
