Are you going to look at it when you first get it and risk spoiling the game for yourself, or are you going to wait until you beat it first?
I'm torn between the two. I'd like to take a good enough glance at it to know if it arrived undamaged and defect free, but then again I might see something like a hidden room that sticks in my memory. (I'd rather find hidden rooms and any other secrets myself.)
Also, if I wait and play the game first, then the thought of having the full map ready to go like a side arm will be very tempting to resist. lol
If you're getting the map, are you going to look at it before playing the game?

If you're worried about the condition, I'd recommend getting a friend or friendly neighbor to look at it for you. I'm not getting the map, but if I was, I would unquestionably keep it locked away until after 100%ing the map in the game.

If it hadn't have been an extra $200 dollars just for the map, or if the game hadn't gotten the overwhelming support that it did I woulda gotten the map, I would definatly have checked it out before hand and looked it over occasionally as I explored.

I am really hoping the digital game guide, to contain the map (in digital form). Or else, somebody skilled enough, to up a wallpaper out of it, so we can study...
I always like and need, spoilers. Especially the maps in GTA series.

I'm sure there will be "a" map in the guide but "the" map and it's unique design will probably stay just for the backers as it should be, least the ones in the guides will be alil bit more manageable, presumably

I expect the retro game manual will be like game manuals used to be - introduction, mechanics, characters and maybe some hints, but probably not a map. Even if it did try to port over the same map as the enormous $500 tier's, might be pretty hard to read. Imagine a map 2x the size of SotN's on a PS1 instruction manual page, whew. Of course, there are .pdfs of these too, but I still can't say I expect that to be there.
It's tricky on the map, yeah. At first I didn't back for it myself because I didn't think I wanted the spoiler, but later when I heard people talk about it, this did occur to me that I could just put it away until later when I had finished the game.
It's really too difficult to say what/how much you could be showing yourself by looking any at all at the map first. Sure, you might be able to forget all the details and it not influence your adventure much if it's a big ol' singular map printed on one side etc, but what if the map obviously has two castles on it? Or, some other very easily identified indication that x/y is where the game's progression twist is. If I had bought SotN and seen a two-castle map from day 1, my experience would not have been the same, and quite a bit lessened.

Personally imagined the map being large enough that you'd need a wall to plaster it on as you could'nt hold it in your outstreched arms.
