I hope this is the right place to ask this, but deadlines are almost here and this STILL has not gotten an official response. I have been wondering if the digital codes (for the retro game and the main game) will ever expire? I have not purchased the Nintendo Switch yet, but in the future I will be buying one. I am just wondering if the digital codes have some kind of expiration date on them? For example, if I end up buying a Switch 5 years from now, will the codes still work?

I think they should last for as long as the game is on Switch, but I'm not sure...5 years might be a long time. I'll tag Question and see if he knows.

I would think that also, but you never know with Nintendo (who is still kind of new to this digital world) and this age of digital gaming. I'm going to assume that question here, is the same Question on the Discord? if so, we have already had a conversation about it. He pretty much said the same thing as you did, so I a going to chance it for my digital back up of the game. I picked 5 years just as an extreme idea just to see how far the digital code would last. I'll most likely have a Nintendo Switch by then, but think of it as more of a "what if" scenario.

As mentioned on Discord, Nintendo codes do not expire, unless they are for limited-time events. Nintendo's site specifies this as well. My comment was that holding onto a code for years isn't a great value as the game will invariably be on sale at that point for less than the cost of the KS.

Oh, that all makes sense to me but the only reason I asked in the first place was because I planned to pick the Nintendo Switch for my Digital copy. The whole thing of value you bring up has little meaning to me because technically I am getting the digital copy for "free" (I backed it up to that point), no? I'm new to Kickstarter, so if I am understand something wrong please let me know.
Again, the whole thing with the 5 years was just an extreme example I picked to see if digital codes for Nintendo have a expiration date, happy to know they do not.
Everything is all cleared up now, so this topic has no purpose now.
