Ah, the sheer anticipation. I can't wait to finally explore this huge castle. Maybe, as Galamoth, I could use this as my new base of operations. *scratches giant green chin in thought* Hehe, Galamoth trying to walk through human sized corridors would be funny to watch. *Galamoth's character-model spazzes out, struggling to enter the first door* "On second thought, I think I'll send in a Frozen-Half to scout this castle...maybe find a giant-sized Warp Room for me."

If they invert this castle as well I wouldn't know what to do with myself. Actually even if they don't I suppose it's not totally impossible that the roguelike mode might just produce one on it's own though.

If they invert this castle as well I wouldn't know what to do with myself. They're not gonna do that. What's the point of doing a twist you've already done before, people are expecting it. What would we all want more? Just a 1600-room Castle by itself to explore? (Which is already going to be awesome) Or perhaps a new twist idea for more exploration that IGA could have, alongside exploring this Castle? (We're definitely not going outside the bounds of the Castle) Let's see...the "Inverted" Castle's already been done (of course), and the "Castle B" idea has already been used in Harmony of Dissonance. ^ There's also the "demon realm"-esque ideas (Chaotic Realm in AoS; Abyss in DoS). Hmm... (Edit): Maybe...special stained-glass "Cursed" Crystal Rooms in the Castle?

A "looking glass" castle?
How about a time-shifted castle? It might be interesting to see a castle in two time periods. That might be hard to implement in a way that doesn't become cliche after awhile, but it could work with some elements of the story (Miriam falling asleep for so many years, for example)....

I just read, that without glitching in Symphony of the night, BOTH castles combined had a total room count of 1890, so, that's only 900 rooms a castle. Our fresh, sexy, new castle will have 1600 rooms in just one. Lovely. So good I know it's a lot of work, but there should be unique enemies and things every where. There's no limit to how many mythical creatures that can be created, I really hope we don't get a massive amount of copy/paste, though, if I was being completely honest, I'd still have a nerdgasm regardless. This is what I'm very excited about, I hope the castle design + the rooms have a nice variety to them!

Tbh. I have to say something that will make some people think im awful... But while 1600 rooms is a lot, i expected more. We DID get a stretch goal stating that this would be iga's largest castle to date by at least 20 or 25% or some such. Fact is sotn was 1800ish, so I either see this announcement as falsifying the stretch goal, or that we are going to get a 2nd castle in addition to 1600. I dont like entitlement, but now im kind of in the opinion that we had BETTER get a 2nd castle because otherwise we were lied to.
Dont get me wrong. I Truly appreciate the work involved so far, and im not going to unsupport this simply because of one falsehood, but I think its important to aknoledge the possibility of a falaehood when you see them, otherwise you excuse future ones.

I'm willing to have a bit of faith on this one, that they've taken the numbers into account with their promises. I'm not going to have any heart-ache over it until all is revealed, and that likely won't happen until we have the game in our hot little hands. They're going to have to walk a fine line with keeping us informed on how everything's going, but also leaving some stuff for us to be surprised as we play the game. Meanwhile, regardless of the specific numbers, as Motoko and other people have pointed out -- the quality of everything is as important (if not more) than the quantity...

it's not about wanting quantity over quality, it's about giving what was promised. This isn't even a situation where they promised a particular release date and 1600 is all they could manage in time, we are still extremely early in development.. it's like they are planning not to deliver what was promised from the very beginning...if they don't have a 2nd castle.
Frankly, I expect a 2nd castle, because people keep talking about it, everyone knows we want one, and given IGA catered to fan desires for some of the more silly things like an actual IGA boss (which I think is kinda dumb IMO but whatever), I think it would be madness not to cater to the desire for a 'secret' castle.. So frankly, I honestly think they are in fact planning to not only give us a 2nd castle after a 1600 room castle, but may stretch that 20-25% estimation further, and I will be grateful...But like I said, because of promises made, they had better, and I don't say that out of entitlement, but just out of someone who WILL speak up when I see something potentially wrong, nothing more.
If in fact the game releases with 1600 rooms and no second castle, I still expect to enjoy the game, and doubt I'll regret my support. But at the same time I don't want to hear people tell me or other people 'quality over quantity' like that is justification.

I trust Iga and his team to deliver, besides theyre naturally going to be very tight lipped on any speculation regarding any incarnation of a secret area/castle, and we also dont know yet if their definition of room means a tv screen of content or an actual full room, 1600+ (the + is important since it could be keeping the extra 25% secret as well as shrouding just how big the game will actually be) rooms could be 1 castle, it could be 3 versions of the castle, it could be the castle and a secret area, is the backer boss going to get his own secret area of the castle, sealed away behind a locked vault that requires the 7 keys of Pentuzler, a crystal, a ring, and a nokia cell phone to open? i cant wait to find out \^_^/

The only reason SotN had as many rooms as it did was because half of them were literally just flipped upside down with maybe some different textures. 1600 is the most UNIQUE rooms in an Igavania game, EVER. Or did I misunderstand your point? EDIT: No no, in your first post, you said "SotN had 1800-ish rooms", and as for that, see above, half of those were just flipped upside down.

Well, i disagree about the fact it is less than SOTN combined castles, most sprites are just the same/reused, i am not sure if we should add the two together, since they are basically the same... that's just what i feel, and 1.600 on a single castle is definitely better than 2x SAME CASTLE with different effects and enemies.
And i do not expect there will be a second castle, actually i don't even want that, i prefer all the work on a single beautiful perfect castle than time spent on reusing the whole castle. Excluding the reused sprites and the little changes on SOTN inverted castle, 1.600 rooms actually means it will be ~50% bigger. Anyway, i see there will be people who prefer a second reused castle, that's a matter of personal taste.
I think a second castle strategy fits better on a follow up game of the series, since on the first they need to create everything from scratch, it makes me think it is better to get the experience with a single first castle before attempting such a thing.

Just going to clarify that 1890+ rooms was both the Normal and Inverted Castles in SotN combined. The Normal Castle only had 942 rooms by itself. I'm sure you may already know this by now. I'm just going to leave this post here. I don't think the announcement of IGA's Biggest Castle being only 1600 Rooms is final, though. The development team is very likely to add even more for this one Castle.

I realize that TECHNICALLY its bigger than a castle in sotn. But I think people are kidding themselves if that what was supposed to be interprited all along. I mean when these forums were brand new, one kf the first threads was about secondary castle mechanics. Anr I was literally the only person who said I would prefer one castle larger than both of sotn's than two slightly larger ones or whatever. Not one person objected or stated that they thought "castle" literally meant a single castle and not "size of areas to explore" (consider how better to put it than castle... Game isnt it because that can be interprited as having more enemies and ewuipment and stuff too).
Now size of individual rooms is indeed a factor. I personally wouldnt use room#s to measure or state how big the game is myself, but that was what iga used so thats what we are talking about.
Anyway, i just want to repeat this is not an upset post or an accusation at this point. Just something I feel is worth discussing constructively.

double post cuz this one unrelated to previous.
I read the destructoid magazine code thing, and in it there was a question that made IGA answer in a way he had a very similar answer to in one of the ask IGA interviews... He mentioned how original concepts had a male protagonist, and that they changed it to female. However the 2nd part was slightly different. I can't remember what it was last time, it was similar, but not quite the same. This time however he said he's only wondering if he can/should attempt the same kinds of 'gross heineous situations' that would have been done without question if the lead was still male.
I'm honestly clueless here... what exactly gross heineous situations do male protagonists find themselves in that women protagonists not? And I'm not asking to be politically correct, I don't have a clue at all what other people may even think, like, I don't know what he's talking about/referring to... Does anyone know?
