I'm honestly surprised people think it looks better than expected. looks like a typical 8bit platformer castlevania game to me only with somewhat oddly coloured playable characters, mechanically advanced bosses, mechanically advanced player abilities (which worries me about making the game too easy), and regular enemies who seem unable to be a threat to the more advanced player abilities/control.
I mean it looks fine enough for me, it's pretty much exactly what I expected minus the PC colouring.

Holy CRAP this came out of nowhere! We're getting the retro spinoff game in less than 2 weeks! And its basically Castlevania 3!? AWESOME! Now i see why Inti was not involved with the main game, they hustled on THIS.

This is perfect, since I've been wanting something closer to a Classicvania for quite a while. I started giggling like a loon when I saw all the Castlevania III influence. That pretty much describes my reaction when I first saw the trailer, too.  |

The Japanese trailer has better voice narrator: Japanese voice recordings are always better ^_^ #subsnotdubs IMHO Also... ghaleon : Personally hearing mini-game I expected a slightly bigger game than the "No Super System Card" "game" from Rondo of Blood: Okay - a bit exaggerated  - more reasonably I expected a proper game, but something like 30 minutes of mediocre gameplay, or 15 minutes and higher quality content tops. ...so getting something presumably larger than CV1, mechanically similar to CV3 - and then getting in just a few weeks, is quite the positive surprise!

It looks like they'll keep the 3DS aspect ratio (5:3 aka not quite widescreen) and I hate how it looks on a 60" HDTV like mine. I hope this was just the trailer but it wouldnt be the first game that because it appeared on 3DS the ports to consoles dont quite fill the 16:9 displays and I really dont like that.
Other than that potential problem I have it does looks amazing.

The voice in the trailer seemed... competent? Maybe a little 'trying too hard', though.
Regardless, looks really good! I joined the Castlevania franchise a bit late (Portrait of Ruin was my first) so while this retro game won't be tickling any nostalgia, it'll at least be a fresh experience for me.

What scares me is that the ones who made the english trailer thought that using that tacky voice was a good idea!! Don't you dare talk shit about Maxwell Powers, I will slap you On topic, this looks amaaazing. I like how swapping between characters is fast unlike Dracula's Curse, which means it's going to be the central mechanics. This looks like it'll be to Castlevania 3 what Adventure: Rebirth was to Adventure with all the quality of life tweaks, new ideas, and cool-looking boss designs. Given Inticreates' experience with Gunvolt, the bosses give me the same vibe with their huge areas of attacks, and the branching paths remind me of Rondo of Blood. It's games like this and Shovel Knight that still prove that 2D action games with old-school influences and design are not only relevant, but important in the current age. I'm beyond hyped. |

Damn I had like 0 expectations for the side game but now I think this could be the new classicvania fans were waiting for, truly this came out of nowhere. I knew my trust in IGA wasn't misplaced when I backed this project. Can't wait to fire this up in my switch.
