So I read online somewhere(I don't remember where) but it said that the game will release in Q2 2018. I think they either meant the demo will or maybe the demo will give us a release date that dates being in Q2 2018. If anyone can find something to back that up that would be nice, I will be looking as well. I'm one of the mods can disprove this but I figured I should put it up here anyway.
Notice thought I should put it out there to make it easier. This rumor was wrong and disproved.

I'll quote our FAQs. I guess I still need to find a way to make that information easier to see.
There is currently no release date.
Kickstarter requires a release date before the campaign goes live which can never be edited. That's why it still says March 2017. Due to stretch goals and more funding than could have ever been expected, IGA released an update that said the new window was first half of 2018. As development continued, 505 Games amended this expectation and now simply declarers that there is no release date.
I'm not an employee of ArtPlay or 505 Games, and I have no official information about release date. However as someone who follows the project daily I have my own expectations. Due to the Demo in June 2018, I expect that release will happen very late 2018 or very early 2019. I also expect a solid release date given to us in June or July.

Also guys, Angel-Corlux did talk about this on Reddit a little bit: www.reddit.com/r/Bloodstained/comments/8agbe4/this_game_needs_a_release_date/dx59ta2/So before anyone gets worried, it seems that Angel does know what the release date will probably be and the team does have a planned release date, so it's not like the game is in limbo or anything like that. Progress is going well. It's just that Angel and the team are keeping it quiet for now, in order to maximize the impact of the marketing campaign and ensure that the whole world gets to know about Bloodstained. So even though it's tough being kept in the dark for now, we can be assured that there's going to be a whole heck of a lot of action planned for the near future, and the release date will be announced in such a way that the big marketing guns will have the greatest effect ;D

I think they have more bargaining power after they released the beta to backers but it is still necessary to address the delay.

Iga's words in 09/2016 we're referring to were "while the release date is not set it stone yet, we are aiming for the first half of 2018". That wasn't a release date, and it was before 505 Games were officially signed on with them to be able to give a release date (granted this is hard to say, the announcement of their involvement was not long after, with Angel coming in several months later). Even if he had wanted to give his most sincerest date way back then to when the game would be released, without a publisher (and two years out) that couldn't really be said anyways imo
How I took that announcement was, and I think most people, was like "hey guys, yeah just like you all assumed, this isn't coming in March 2017". My response being "haha yeah we know man, it's cool, do your thing"

They did. March 28 update. That's a very vague statement. They have not yet announced any official release date (x/x/201x) for the game, that's true but Iga said the release date was first half of 2018. If they can't release the game in the first half of 2018, that's a delay. So, instead of making a statement "clarifying" that they have not yet announced any official release date, they should make a statement "admitting" that they cannot make it so they have to "delay" it. They have to own up instead of trying to wash it away. There is nothing wrong with the second delay if they have the beta to show us, there is no shame in admitting it. We all know that the dev need time to create a great game.

Press is sometimes negative and only talks about stupid things, if this game ever did get to be pushed back. And fans would also loose faith. As it stands. No date have been announced and there haven't been any push-backs. And is an strategic choice. Why make people go crazy? That's a chaos request imo.

In the end they just have to "clarify" and claim what they said wasn't official.

Iga said first half of 2018. So his words is meaningless? If that is the case, then I can't take Iga seriously if he says he aims for something next time. In the end they just have to "clarify" and claim what they said wasn't official. I mean, that's a legitimate position to have, but I wouldn't take *anybody* too seriously when they say they're just "aiming" for a certain date. The choice of words there is almost always deliberate, as it was in IGA's case and as it would be in most other places I've seen it used. People say they're aiming for something as a best-case scenario, but also with the expectation that it's not a 100% sure thing. So I can't blame you if you don't take IGA or anyone else seriously when they say they're aiming for something, but I wouldn't see myself as being betrayed if they don't hit what they're just "aiming" at either.

DSLevantine Do you mean this: Text if you can't see the video: "While the release date is not yet set in stone, we're aiming for the first half of 2018". So I can see that you feel it is suppose to be "We will release our game first half of 2018" but its not.

The official release date is 2018. That's it. No more, no less. The new (and probably last) demo will be out on June. Now, there are three points to be made about this: 1) You can't release a game before a demo; 2) You need the demo's feedback and, at normal game developing cycles, the code freeze (when the game's code is locked and only bugs can be fixed, no more large content can be added without lots of effort), happens 4 months before release. Remember, the demo feedback will only work if the game's code is not locked yet. 3) You need to do the marketing campaign for the game's launch. Considering all that, expect the game to be released between October and December, 2018.That is, most probably, their window release. My guess? Pre-order on November 2018, delivery by first two weeks of December 2018, to use the Christmas release window, when people buy games to give as Xmas gifts. it's one of the best, commercial holidays for seeling. The game even released christmans hat as clothes for Miriam. And, who wouldn't want Bloodstained as Christmas gift, right?

i don't unerstand why is everyone making so much drama about the release date. my guess is the haters just want more chances to say some stupid stuff such as: MN9.2 or the Kickstarters curse is real... and like Enkeria said, the press and the gaming media says nothing but stupid things it like they try really hard to destroy indie games as it is a pretty common thing to see them highlight the flaws and mistakes of the game so i expect to read lines such as "looks like the game is getting another delay" instead of "the game is almost ready and its going to be great" the gaming community is extremely toxic these days but thats the talk for a different topic. NOT ME! i would love to play it on halloween. think about it. to play a game about demons, magic and curses during one of the festive days that bases on very dark rites that involve demons and monsters? Sure! and with the Bloodstained soundtrack at max volume it sounds even better! but christmas? i don't know playing a game about demons and darkness during the holiest holydays with the family gathered and everyone singing christmas stuff. eh, it wouldn't be satisfying and i wouldn't be able to run away to play in peace. also a big part of my family is actually super religious so if i say something like: oh im going to go play Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night . my grandma is going to have a looooong chat with me. either way the game is coming in 2018 and thats all i need to know.

Speaking of that Beta demo, does anyone know if that's just for initial backers, or anyone who slacker-backed/pre-ordered the game? All I know is it's supposed to be for backers and available on Steam.

Eh. games releae before making a demo...well I'd say all the time but most games don't have demos at all these days.
Now if you meant beta demo, yeah ok sure.
Also I don't think there's much release date drama. I agree that the gaming media is crud, but I would be careful about judging gamers as so toxic or something, you sound like the media yourself when you do that. My policy is to judge less and consider more.
edit: err, I mean you sound like the media when you say that and only that. not saying you're just like them you're awful go away rah rah.

oh don't worry i hardly take things to personal but you are right, i should have been more specific when i talked about the gaming community being toxic, i apologize. like i said: thats a thing for a different topic. then again release dates are always a dramatic thing, maybe you don't see it here but out there you can find a lot of people and sites that are hungry for that particular kind of information and bloodstained has already been victim to that where a small mistake caused several people to believe the release date was coming in the march KS update and then you have twice the amount of people thinking there was another delay for xy reason and that generates a negative image of the game and its developers. as someone that loves to read news and articles about videogames and technology i can tell you that Indie games have it hard. its a very crude and vague way to say it but for whatever particular reason AAA games are mostly worshipped almost as if they were paying writers to say that, while indie games developed by small companies are criticized for almost every single detail. youtubers are even worse because well... youtube. (all you need to do is to read the comment box to lose faith in hummanity) so i cannot take them seriously specially when theres people praying that games like Blasphemous play and look more like SOTN than Bloodstained because of 2D Pixel Art but unfortunately theres people that actually believes that and the game loses potential chances to become a big selling hit. i would lie if i say something such as; "I don't care what people thinks about the game i like" Because i do care and if bloodstained happens to be a big hit then chances are we will get another amazing game. Back to the main topic... Bloodstained: Ritual of the night COMING SOON™ 2018

I like games, and I like to be aware of them, but.. My disdain for its media is probably worse than your own. It would pain me to give them relevancy with my traffic, as small as it may be. so I don't.
Indie games however are something I get the impression are not universally worse off from media attention. Rather I think that when it comes to indie games, they are just slower, until they can get an understanding of what the general consensus is, then they inflate that consensus as much as they can to come across as the biggest supporters. Take Undertale for example, first people said they thought undertale was cool, then they said it was great, then it was WOOO GAME OF THE YEAR.. then it was AGHASFJKJ@ASKFDJLASKGIHJG IM SEROTONIN OVERDOSING@#%@%@#*@%N *explodes*.
I do however think doujin games get virtually no exposure at all. So much so that most folks here probably don't even know what doujin is... It's Japanese indie, and if you think 'why not call it indie?'. Well Doujin is actually a much much larger market before steam came around, that's why, and I think they generally have a better understanding of what their playerbase wants more than indie games who have to balance between satisfying customers and the media for exposure.
