The Nintendo Switch is a unique system to say the least... besides the hybrid nature of the system it comes with many bells and whistles... so here is the question, what switch specific gimmick do you want to be included in the Switch version? Amiibo functionality, HD rumble, motion controls. I really hope they at least integrate HD rumble in this game I want to feel different rumbles when I kill different enemies.

HD Rumble/ Motion controls. and to specify I'm when I say motion controls I'm specifically speaking of the directional shards, would be nice to have an option of moving the controller around (not required) to aim the directional shards instead of the right thumb stick where I would have to take my thumb off attack buttons and would be more difficult to multitask directional shards with regular attacks

Perhaps split Joy con can be used to allow a second player to manipulate a familiar, if time permits, the devs can allow a player to control an enemy and switch between the selected one. This second idea may work better in the boss revenge mode as a second player can take control of what player one will face.
I also voted other because I would like to see touch screen support for the menus.

the hd rumble would be nice, and if amiibo functionality for like neat costumes can be added without a bunch of red tape or cost then im all for it
the big draw the switch has that very few people have really utilized however is the switch has a touch screen, how cool would it be to be able to navigate the menus in handheld mode with a couple taps or a drag to reorder items?

How well would this version handle the aiming & usage of Directional Shards?

I hope they add it in because I kinda don't like using the stick controls for that... I mean it works but not its not my favorite... Perhaps split Joy con can be used to allow a second player to manipulate a familiar, if time permits, the devs can allow a player to control an enemy and switch between the selected one. I also voted other because I would like to see touch screen support for the menus. I never thought of that... the ability to control the familiars XD so cool. I can see a person using a split joycon for the familiars but I don't see split joycon controllers for Miriam. the hd rumble would be nice, and if amiibo functionality for like neat costumes can be added without a bunch of red tape or cost then im all for it the big draw the switch has that very few people have really utilized however is the switch has a touch screen, how cool would it be to be able to navigate the menus in handheld mode with a couple taps or a drag to reorder items? Yes touch screen I totally forgot about it... but what could it be used for? I can only see it for directional shards... but I am tired so my thinking is not all there lol

akuwa As someone who really doesn't like the right stick being used for directional ability aiming, I 100% support using motion controls as a replacement. allooutrick Astaroth I wouldn't complain about touch menu support, but I'd understand why they wouldn't bother as well. The main reason the touchscreen gets underutilized on the Switch is because it's entire functionality becomes inaccessible when docked. That means that all implementation of touch features have to be completely non-core to game play. Galamoth The Switch has the same basic controls available as every other major controller(setting aside gimmicks such as motion controls and touch pads), so there's no reason for the game handle any differently on that console than the other versions. That said, I really hate the right stick aiming in the E3 demo, so any alternative control options would be fantastic.

The biggest plus for me is the portability, since I take it with me wherever I go now, but it would be awesome to see what they're going to do with the HD Rumble. A Miriam Amiibo too? that would be awesome

Galamoth I don't understand what you mean... the controls for the ps4, xbox one and the switch has the same controls... the switch just have additional motion controls. it There are R2 and L2 button behind the two bumper buttons on top but they are called ZR and ZL respectively... so can you explain what you mean in detail... again I think I am missing something. (I know in text this looks sarcastic but I am not trying to go for that I really do think we are missing something)

the biggest drawback for handing off a joycon to someone is unless you can competently hit the 2 shoulder buttons now on the end of the controller you lose 2 shoulder buttons and the right joystick in your control scheme, so tying familiar actions to 2nd player would actually be better served through having someone else have their own controller entirely
as for galamoths question, i think he was specifically asking how scars would handle the directional shard if we didnt use the right stick to do it, as well as agreeing that the switch has the same amount of buttons as a ps4 controller plus the motion/ir/whatever stuff

ok I was waiting for Galamonth's response before... I was thinking for the motion controls, it should be on the right joycon, if you press the R button and point up, Miriam's hand goes up (the same in reveres with down)... and if you point left, Miriam's hand goes behind her same with pointing up/down behind her(in turn moving her arm)... reading this it sounds very complicated... can someone simplify my words haha sorry I am bad at explaining things haha...

This is, of course, all assuming they'll bother with the motion controls in the first place. I'm just wondering about the mere possibility of the specific buttons [normally used for Directional Shards on other console controllers] being left without function IF the developers decide to go with motion controls for Bloodstained's Switch version. Or, as JeffCross stated above, maybe the R-shoulder button could serve a slightly different purpose than for other console controllers (rather than firing the equipped Directional Shard right away; holding down R could enable you to aim Miriam's arm with motion-controls).

I doubt they will take out the functionality of the normal buttons for the motion controls.... so even if they have the motion controls in I think the original button mapping will stay... I don't think it will be one or the other. but to me I think the motion controls will be better (if done right) to hold the ZR (sorry I thought it was R) and move your hand... but it works in my head perfectly hahaha... I don't know if it will work that well IRL lol Yeah Galamoth I think that would work... or they can use the traditional ZR buttons (again that is my mistake for not looking for the actual button maps) and after they aim they can press in the right trigger to fire

for the motion controls I was thinking more on the lines of Splatoon 2s where its just a slight tilt up to aim up and a slight tilt down to aim down. holding down R to temporarily enable motion controls and ZR to use the shard would probably work great, though I'm unsure if R is already assigned to anything else, and remember that the point of the motion controls in the first place is so you don't have to take your thumb off jump/attack buttons in an intense boss fight where doing so is a death sentence. if done right it would get a whole lot more use out of directional shards for the Switch version, as by the looks of it now and for other versions of the game I can't see them getting much use when using them makes it difficult to jump out of an attack or use other skills in combat.

good point akuwa that makes sense and yes that is how I have the controls in the diagram... I just didn't think of the firing part of the controls... small over sight lol... but yeah I don't think R is assigned to anything yet. it would be cool if you could also move while aiming the directional shard... Edit: Oh I found out the B button (this is from the xbox button mapping) is not used yet... but they might have plans for that later lol

For what its worth, I set up the 2016 demo to be used with my PS4 controller, using steams controller config.
With it I am able to emulate the right thumb stick using the Gyro of the DS4.
Since the left trigger /L2 isnt mapped to anything in th 2016 demo I am using that. While holding L2, you rotate the DS4 controller to aim wherever you want to aim (think of it like a steering wheel when/if you try it for yourself) and you hit R2 to actually fire it.
Allows you to move while being able to jump and aim at the same time. Its a bit crude as it is an emulation.
It was fun to mess around with but ultimately i defaulted back to original controls.

Let us hope the Switch version will be well done I personally don't care if none of these "extras" are not included (a bit disappointed yes...but...) as long as the game is a competent port like Doom or Skyrim (to name a couple recent competent ports)... so even if it is done with no bells and whistles I will be happy.
I have every system right now so sooner or later I will get all the version for collecting proposes... I am a bit more excited for the switch version though, just because of the portable aspect of it.
