When Bloodstained's kickstarter was launched, IGA gave several interviews talking about the game, to promote it. Among these, he ocasionally dropped some information about ideas he had for the game, and some of those were never commented again. That led me to believe that they were probably dropped or changed somehow. I distinctly remember three of them, and i wanted to highlight them, see what the community thinks of them and even check with dev team ( Angel-Corlux ) if some of those things remained (if they can talk abou it, of course). Here goes: DROPS DIVIDED BY ENEMY PARTS
Flame eye from head part? IGA at shmuplations interview: shmuplations.com/bloodstained/ (...) there are five different kinds of drops, corresponding to different parts of an enemy, like their heads, arms, etc. Of those drops, some of them have magical abilities, and they sparkle to show their rarity. Normal crafting materials will be used on quests, or for weapons and armor, but the sparkling rares, if you level them, will become crystals. Those crystals will link with the magi-crystals on Miriam’s body and allow her to use special abilities/skills. I also want the drops to give different stat subeffects: for example, an enemy head drop will raise your magic power, or a drop from an enemy leg/foot will raise your movement speed. By using the different drop materials (even a single monster will have different drops) and the different stat subeffects, you’ll be able to customize Miriam to your liking."I believe that those crystals that would link with the magi-crystals on Miriam's body and allow her to use special abilities and skills, is the Shard System we have now. But the whole idea of enemies having different parts to drop and each drop from those parts offering subeffects is something that was never talked about again. It's even hard to understand if he is talking specifically about forging, if those parts are materials used for forging, to customize effecfs of forged equipments, or if was something completely different. USING ALCHEMY ON CRYSTALS TO UNLOCK POWERS
Alchemy-unlocking magic? I searched around for the source of this, and i couldn't find it, unfortunately, but i REALLY remember IGA talking about this.IGA said before that they planned on making Miriam only capable of using her powers after unlocking them with alchemy somehow. She would pick a magical crystal and bring that to someone else to apply alchemy at it, unlock it's powers and then she would be able to use it. But they thought that could be frustrating for players that wouldn't be able to use powers right as you picked them up. Nothing in the Shard System suggests applying alchemy at Shards to unlock anything. It seems the whole concept was dropped. Maybe something like that will be used for the mysterious "Seventh" ability commented by the cameo Voltic Chain power (pictured below) that they said "isn't demonic in power", as if it is something aside from Shards. THE SEVENTH ABILITY
Voltic Chain "Voltic Chain: Summons electrified chains to attack all enemies with electric volts. This is a special “seventh" ability—not a demonic one."Voltic Chain is a cameo from Gunvolt, from inticreates. What "Seventh ability" means? Voltic chain is not a Shard? It is something else? Miriam will have some other kind of power besides Shards? Or the whole "Seventh ability not being a demonic power" thing was dropped? Or even Voltic Chain itself was axed when Inticreates left the development? What do you think? Those ideas were dropped, or they will come back somehow? That's all folks!

I think what happened is that there is no crafting system, but it is still possible that certain quests require a key drop from enemies to collect when activated.
I certainly hope customization is still a thing. For the most part I heard there was a general assurance that everything that is promised is slated to be in the game.

I asked Angel about it at discord and he said that not only crafting system, but everything that was officially promised wasn't axed. If i'm not mistaken, he even assured that if anything in the game that was promised ends up being axed, we will know.

I always thought that the Voltic Chain was tied to the special attacks or inputs, like Alucard's Tetra spirits.

I always thought that the Voltic Chain was tied to the special attacks or inputs, like Alucard's Tetra spirits. That was always what I said about it/that possible "class" of abilities, something separate that takes inputs rather than shards to use. I was thinking the magical throne and wine glass throw (featured in the same update as Voltic Chain iirc) would be in the same category, as they all involve the materialization of crystalline things. From the "Special Attacks and Inputs" thread's submitted data: - ...For relevance, a personal idea if this "different" category of attacks needs a spot to fill in the narrative, some of these actions could be the attacks mentioned early on in the Kickstarter, such as "Voltic Chain" which was specifically described as "not a demonic ability". These seemed to me to originate directly from Miriam/her back crystal itself rather than external demonic abilities, and most were crystal or glass-like in origin (the wine glass, throne, chains) - could this mean she produces a crystalline substance to a degree, as also would be evidenced by concept art of stained glass-appearing weapons? Could this Iceman-like production be related to crafting then, as well? (narrative relation/plausibility)
So yeah, notice how all of these involve her back glowing/the attack coming from her back as she does them: Update 15's "Special Attacks"
Them being denoted as "special attacks" rather than specifically demon shard abilities gives some credence to their separation category-wise, too, but we again don't have official clarification on that. Regarding the specifics of crafting and enemies dropping various body part components, I think that's still likely. I think in reading that, we assume he means that every creature will have differing drops for every limb (which sounds more unlikely), and that may not be the case - more like, say in the example of the Barbatos archer enemy in the last update video: 1: Wood (from his bow/arrow "body part"), 2: tunic cloth, 3: boot leather, 4: metal, 5: sparkling special item (like a complete arrow/bow that adds a passive thing to bullet shards or gunshots) The part about acquiring a crystal and having to unlock its powers - that does sound familiar, but moreso in the context of leveling up its "quality" probably, if it's still around. I think that in some instances, we'll need to bring things to Johannes (or Dominique) to possibly improve the efficacy of things. Using the example above, say Barbatos' shard ability is something that looks like SotN's magic missile (the straight arrow shot), and bringing the alchemic component of the sparkling bow/arrow above to Johannes after you've leveled it up/combined other things to it, a process occurs that confers the improvement to this Trigger shard of Barbatos, now making it into a stronger Directional shard projectile with the green energy trail. That's just an example. Who really knows what the crafting is/isn't, but I do still think that there will be a shop that utilizes shards in the same way Yoko's shop used souls - likely Dominique's. She exorcises/extracts the shards for use as a resource, Johannes handles the alchemic side that Miriam herself can't do alone. Dubiously?

Pure Miriam Definitely understand why you'd be curious about some of these things, and I think that apart from purifyweirdshard doing a good job of replying, what I can add is the following:
First of all, I've said it before lots of times on Discord and I'll say it here or anywhere else as well, "Nothing from the Kickstarter has been cut from the game, if we ever do have to cut something, we will communicate that to everyone honestly and explain the why behind the cut".
Secondly, a lot of these concepts were back when Iga was still conceptually working to create and envision how the game would work.
Third, unfortunately I can't concretely tell you the answers to some of your questions, like "what's in the game?" or "How did this idea evolve?" but needless to say that the time will come when you can see for yourself and will be able to tell exactly how it took shape.
Hope that satisfies a little bit even if not 100%.

I admit that I'm still curious to see how "Seventh Abilities" will work in the final game. Can't wait to use "Voltic Chains" and the "Gluttony Summon".

I personally can't wait for the alchemy system, and quest line system. I hope it works like the villagers from Order; but maybe with other parameters such as 'Defeat X number of enemies,' or 'Go defeat X superboss to avenge my family...!' Stuff like that. As for the alchemy system, I would LOVE if it was something akin to Krak Pot from Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the starry skies. <3 Also, good post, Pure Miriam.

The drop/crafting system intrigued me when I first read about it, but I admit that I completely forgot about it until I read this post. I know myself and I probably wouldn't have used it without a guide anyway. Doesn't mean I don't want it in the game. Glad to see it wasn't cut.
Other than Voltic Chain, I'd love to see "Dark Metamorphosis" for giggles. Input based commands would be perfect for 7th abilities.

Three ideas Bloodstained probably dropped:
- Putting me in the game
- Since they didn't want to use zombies, there would be "Xombies" instead
- Angel spawns sometimes and drops Luxagna - lasagna, but more lux-y, and only while Luxurious Overture is playing.

Three Ideas Bloodstained probably dropped:
1. The moon on the status bar getting bloody as Miriam's hp drops.
2. Twists and turns, unnaturally shaped rooms(seriously, the majority of rooms , at least those with a chest, are squarey and big, creating an empty feeling in some circumstances with the lack of foes. Hopefully there be stuff similar to the winding tunnels of the underground cavern or catacombs.)
3. I'm wondering how boss revenge will work...simply controlling it will be a challenge, no? And how to make it interesting with what I assume will be a cpu controlled player character? unless it isn't cpu controlled...
